Got this for my brother as an early birthday gift. Gave it to him early since our weather will turn on a dime before his actual BD. He likes the INK color and is delighted with all the zippers. This is a man who uses his pockets! ALL of them. Thus, he was very pleased. I picked this for him because it should really be a 3-season item. In spring and early fall, it will be a jacket on its own. As Winter forces us inside, it will be a great cardigan around the house, and when we get nailed in February, it will be a great layering piece under his outwear. Lots of ways to use this and the fleece is easy care, which he needs. Thanks LL Bean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ericsundbergVA Great jacket. Fits correctly and great fabric
Finally a jacket that size truly matches as described and not oversized as the current trend is. I measured it and a large listed as 42 - 44 truly is 44 inches.
Great fabric weight too, medium to heavy with nice feel.
Tried to buy again in different color but alas no browns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Biologist 5 stars but not yet perfect...
I'm lucky to live near an LL Bean retail store. So I get to try on most clothing items before purchase. I've had a few fit issues over the past few years. I usually wear large, fitted jackets and shirts form LL Bean. This jacket fit me very well. However, the zipper pulls are not tied off well; the knotted end is not heat sealed or glued and become untied easily. And the pulls are important when wearing gloves. I always replace them with better pulls.
Great jacket ... needs more reliable pulls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Maceairsidh Really nice but,
Love the quality material in this jacket(& the vest)but 'traditional' sizing doesn't appear to be what it used to be. Ordered XL(205lb/44 chest)as per usual and the fit seems to be rather tapered through the body & shoulders. So good quality but too tight, so sizing doesn't work & had to return.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dj007 Releases Fuzzy Fibers
I really liked this jacket for it's features - length, open cuffs and hem - but I wore it once before washing and it got fuzzy black fibers on my shirt. Thinking that it just should have been washed first, I did that but the next time I wore it they were even worse.
Even though I like the jacket it is being returned because I can't put up with it fuzzing up all my clothes!

Rated 3 out of 5 by muffer sizing very small
I purchased a trail model fleece jacket after I read the reviews on it. Many customers said they run very small. I normally wear 1XL on jackets or coats at LL BEAN, but since so many reviews stated they run small I ordered a 2XL. It was still very small across the shoulders and around arms near the pit area and shoulders. So I was going to order another size up ,however they don't offer that size. With all the reviews stating how small they run why isn't LL Bean correcting the problem with the manufacturers ? Does bean like to do returns do to defects from manufacturers ? Poor quality control. Other than sizing it's a nice jacket. I guess I'll have to return it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by CCalle Not the same old Trail Model Fleece!
I have been buying trail model fleeces for a long time. I would say since 2005. I still own my first one and have bought about 6 more for my family. They were great! Now that my original one is showing it's age (11 years), I was exited to get a new one. What a disappointment! The new style seems to go along with the ridiculous trend of men wearing their clothes way too tight. The sleeves are so tight my wife has to help me take it off. And it is way too snug in the trunk. I wear a large, and if I were to order an XL the sleeves would be way too long. Speaking of sleeves, there is no elastic around the sleeve like the old Trail Model, so cold wind comes right on in.
I'm a stocky, middle-aged school teacher. I don't want tight clothes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by oldgeekyguy Nice Jacket, Better Sweater
I read the reviews. Yes, the sleeves are long, but not too long if measured as a sports coat they're perfect and perfect for keeping your wrists covered. Yes, the jacket is a bit "slim" in the fit but I'd planned on wearing this not just over a light layer as advertised but as a mid layer under a wind breaker, a barn coat, a parka, or whatever. If I'd got an XL it wouldve been too big, I'm sure.
Considering that, it's as advertised including the open cuffs. Materials and workmanship top notch. Just got it two hours ago and took it for a walk with jeans, insulated boots and long sleeved tee. It's 39?F in small mountain college town with 5-8" old snow on ground, clear path through city park. Just right. I'll update this as I use it...
Been LL BEAN shopper since 1971. Never been disappointed with anything from socks to coats and everything in between. Any infrequent issues were swiftly and cheerfully resolved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BillP44 Almost Perfect
Purchased this jacket several months ago and waited until I had some use on it before reviewing. Used it on a fishing trip to Montana and it worked great. It's a great casual jacket for cold weather. It's soft and warm. The fit is perfect for me - a large at 6'1" and 188. My only reason not to give it 5 stars is the problem of putting it on over most anything long sleeve as others have mentioned. If the sleeves were lined with a non-clinging material it would be perfect, but that's a problem with most fleeces.
