I did not like this coat at all. Bulky and Stiff. Has no personality. Heavy and does wear well. I am a fan of LLbean but tem is the first one a hate.
I am planning to return it. On top of everything I said it does not fit me well at all.

I believe that the sizing is spot on as far as I am concerned. I am not tall, but the bottom hem certainly goes midway down buttocks. it is very warm. I have both this coat from Sterling and the other wool jacket (not the duffle coat). I am very happy with both.
The coat has side pockets for cold weather. It is a reasonably heavy coat. it is probably not as heavy as coats manufactured 20-30 years ago, but that is commonly the case across the board.
If you do some internet research, you will find that it is not unusual for wool coats meant for hard use in day-after-day wear to have 20-30% nylon for strength, durability, and an ability for the garment to keep its proper shape over time. While wool is heavier than some of the man-made fabrics, it will often outlast lightweight down coats.
Many coats like this and even duffle coats are frequently made from recycled wool (still new, but reintegrated refuse in the cloth manufacturing process) and even scrap wool which is from old wool garments where the fibers have been chopped up and reformed (boiled wool or felted finish wool). It is less likely to impact a coat like this, but the point is that Sterling guarantees that the 80% Melton wool is virgin wool with the long fiber intact.
I intend to purchase the duffle coat next.

I was concern about the item being shipped to my office because I forgot to put c/o my Company name but Cust. Serv. assured me that If the pkg does not arrive, LLBean will replace. But I was happy to see that the original pkg was shipped to my office without any issue.

I have been searching for a wool pea coat or wool coat to replace my no longer properly fitting wool coat. I'm 5'11" and 220 lbs. My dress shirts are 17 1/2 neck and 35 sleeve. I usually get XL clothes if I want a baggy look but L is my size. I went to a local store to try the coats on and get my wife's opinion. The L fit me across the shoulders, but I would need several sweaters to fill it out. The M was a much better fit, a more modern/slim type fit. I was still able to wear a medium-weight fleece underneath and it did not fit tight or smothering or even look bulky according to my wife. This coat is much warmer, thicker and heavier than my prior wool/cashmere blend coat. I bought the Yankee Blue which looks almost black, depending on the local lighting. Beautiful looking coat and very warm even on the recent single degree wind chills days we've had here. Seams and buttons were properly constructed and look like they will last for years. Great coat to wear on cold windy days or dressing up and going out in the city.

Very nice coat was very pleased with the Quality well worth the price. Was nervous about the size to order after reading many other reviews, but used the sizing chart and the fit is great. I usually wear x-large in shirts and coats but with this sizing chart I am a medium. I am 6'1" tall and 185 lbs. This is the nicest coat I have ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Superstretch8 Awesome Classic Quality!!
This is a beautifully well made classic pea coat. I am pleased with every aspect of it down to the anchor embossed buttons. I ordered the medium and the small to see which one would fit best. I am 5'-10" and 165 lbs. and the small was perfect. The medium was way too big. Remember a pea coat is designed to be fitted so you don't want it to be baggy. This is made in the USA and you will be so proud to wear it. This is a staple for every gentleman to have in his wardrobe. Well worth every penny!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Englishman First rate qualityand a comfortable fit,
I bought the Yankee Navy pea Jacket in the Regular XXL size. I'm a good-sized chap with broad shoulders, barrel chest and narrow hips - an inverted triangle! The jacket was delivered today; it fits perfectly in every respect. The quality and thickness of the material is obvious. It's a heavy coat and it will be wonderfully warm on Winter days. I can wear a suit coat under the jacket but it makes it very bulky indeed so a sweater/cardigan/jumper over a shirt is probably sufficient clothing to be worn beneath the pea jacket - easier to move in as well. One point: I don't think I would like to try wearing it to drive the car - far too bulky and heavy and, anyway, unnecessary with heated seats and efficient cabin heater in the car (auto to you!) Highly recommended - great to see that it's Made in the USA! No wonder it is of such high quality! Well made, Sterlingwear of Boston!

I have long looked at Peacoats and finally gave in and ordered this one. Great decision, as I've received many compliments on its appearance and it is great to wear in cool/colder weather conditions and is a great length for in/out of and driving the car/truck.

I have received my peacoat and I'm very satisfied with the quality. The feel and the warmth is really much better than my anticipations. You should order one size smaller than you normally do. I used the size chart and it is perfect. I give this coat a 100/100
It is very warm for my outside work in Montreal.
