This Rugby Shirt is not like the LL Bean Ruby shirts of old that stood up to years of wear. I still have LL Bean Rugby shirts that are 10 years old. I don't think the current model of Rugby Shirt would last that long...especially since the placket started unraveling about 2 mos. after I purchased it. That said, it is a VERY comfortable mid-weight rugby shirt with a bit of stretch in it. It's also softer than the older rugby shirt models. LL Bean offered to reimburse me the cost of a seamstress repairing the placket since there wasn't a shirt in my size..I also think that the Rugby shirt is getting a tad expensive for a shirt that might not stand up to being worn in an actual Rugby game

Rated 5 out of 5 by tcwv Really Nice Rugby Shirt
This is a really nice looking, good quality rugby shirt. The fabric is substantial without being too heavy. The fit is spot on - a very trim fit but not ridiculously slim like some of the clothes available today. I just wish LLBean would make it available in more colors and patterns (solid, chest stripe, thin stripe).

Rated 5 out of 5 a real rugby
It is an old fashioned heavy firm cotton rugby shirt. Great fit , feels and made just like the 4 others I've had for 15 years from LL Bean. Wish there was more variety of colors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonnymous A good shirt, but not a rugby shirt
I love the rugby shirts that LL Bean used to have and purchased this one in the hopes that I would like it as much. I don't, because it is not really a rugby shirt. The pique is a knit fabric, not woven, and is lighter in weight than Bean's earlier rugby shirts. It also hangs differently and is sized somewhat smaller than the earlier shirts. Because of the knit fabric, it is a stretchy shirt. This is a good quality shirt and I do like it, but it is not a rugby shirt. It is better described as a long-sleeve, heavy-weight polo shirt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bobnews Great for emergencies
I am enjoying this shirt and also a very similar navy blue version which I bought over a year ago. I use them occasionally as regular, casual shirts in cooler weather. But their primary use is as sleep ware. They are very warm and nice so we can turn the thermostat down. Most important to me is that I can be comfortable wearing them in case of an emergency fire or earthquake. With these Rugby shirts and sweatpants, I will be well covered and comfortable outside, in a shelter, out shopping and in restaurants. Think about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OldKnees Great Mid-Weight Rugby Shirt
I love to wear rugby shirts from fall to early spring. Most of my rugby shirts have been purchase from LL Bean. If you're looking for a heavy weight rugby shirt like LL Bean use to sell, you'll be disappointed in the current selection. If you're looking for a mid-weight rugby shirt, you'll be very pleased! This year's offering is soft to the touch, mid-weight, well made and very comfortable. I've received a number of compliments on the blue/heather-blue rugby shirt I purchased. LL Bean is still my go to place for quality and comfortable rugby shirts.
