I have only had the bag for 3 weeks but I feel I may finally have found the perfect bag! I needed something that was more water proof than the previous messenger bag. Unfortunately I haven't yet taken it out in the rain but I am hopeful. It appears well made, adjustable strap is perfect for me as I'm shorter than most. It's roomy too. At first I thought I would be bothered by the fact that it doesn't have a zipper close but so far the flap closure adhering to the velcro seems to form quite a tight seal and I haven't lost anything out of the bag yet! If you are looking for something durable, waterproof and still stylish to use everyday - this could be the perfect bag!

by OBXBeachGirl Handle broke after three months
After three months of normal business use, the handle broke. The metal handle sawed through the straps in two places and the bag dropped to the floor as I was walking. I rarely used the handle as I normally wear the bag over my shoulder.
I only carried a laptop, air card, usb cables, a mini flashlight, a few pens and my lunch each day so I never came close to the bag's capacity.
I was fortunate the bag was near the floor and didn't drop far and damage something. The metal handle is just a bad idea.
I love the bag for its other features but will exchange it for something with a normal handle.

The bag is OK, except for a major design flaw. The metal handle has edges that cut and fray the nylon cord that secures the handle to the bag. This fraying was noticed several hours into my first trip with the Traverse bag. Obviously, I do not recommend this bag until this serious design flaw is fixed.

I've had this bag since August, and both of the handles are now broken. It's due to the poor design of the handle. I have ordered an exchange for a new bag, but I doubt that it will last any longer than the current one. I would not buy this bag if you plan on using it a lot, or for anything heavy.

This lightweight bag is large enough for laptop, accessories and other items. It has convenient outside pouches for water bottles, and the strap is comfortable. However the handle, which I don't use much, broke after only 3 months of use. Not only is it made from uncomfortable-to-hold aluminum, but the ends are sharp, which cut through the fabric supporting it. The bag needs to be redesigned with a comfortable and durable handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by aMontanapilot No enough foam padding for computer, but fixable.
The bag was purchased to haul around a "17" diagonal screen" HP laptop (actual width 14 7/8"). The padded sleeve for the laptop is a snug fit, but that's fine. There is not enough foam padding at the base of the sleeve, however. I slipped an additional foam strip into the bottom of the sleeve, and that fixed the problem.
The strap to close the sleeve needs a longer strip of Velcro; when snugged down to hold the thin HP, the Velcro barely engages. It would be fine for a thicker laptop. This is not a big deal. There is a backup mechanical latch and strap that works fine.
The bag is roomy with lots of pockets to hold other stuff, which is nice. I particularly like the outside pocket on the side opposite to the big flap. This provides easy-to-get-to storage w/o having to open the big flap.
The big flap has a very noisy Velcro closure, which is embarrassing in a library. The Velcro automatically engages every time the flap is closed. It does make it less likely I will pickup the bag and accidentally dump stuff out. The aluminum handle is well placed, though - even with an unsecured big flap, I think it unlikely I'd accidentally dump my stuff. I may cover the noisy Velcro to make the bag more library-friendly :-)
All in all, I am well-pleased with the bag.
