Rated 5 out of 5 by A2Mark Very Solid Product
Have had more than a dozen pairs over the years. Hold up well to weekly trips to the cleaners. Colors are sometimes a little wierd. Otherwise these are great. Plan to buy many more.

Bought a pair for my husband last year and he asked for more. They were his go to travel pants last summer, especially when he wanted to wear shorts but not common or as acceptable in a foreign culture. They do wrinkle but neaten out on their own and they are cut wide in the leg so if you like a slim cut, you may not like them. The fabric is soft and has a brushed, semi- worn look, but still neat enough to dress up with a nice shirt.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ArnMagoo Men's Tropic Weight Chinos
I was looking for tropic weight chinos, and these seemed to fit the bill.
They truly were "tropic weight chinos".
In the past I've found LL Bean pants to be generous sizing through the waist and body. However, that was not true of these pants.
To the contrary, the waist was a somewhat tight 36" and the body was less full than I require.
I would say the fit was designed for a younger person more than my more mature body.

It is the widest pants my husband ever tried. Size 34: 23 inches wide at the knee, 27 inches at thigh (5 inches below the crotch). Measure your hubby and ask if he would like to walk around in two big skirts and extra space behind. Ladies, maybe it is for us to try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by David21 good value
First, a big thank you to Bean for bringing the Tropic-Weight pants back in a traditional plain front style.
I have 5 pair of the 'new' style and 3 pair of the older styles. I live in the south and it's surprisingly difficult to find nice lightweight everyday khakis. The Tropic Weight pants are a good value and I would recommend these pants.
I agree with the posters that noted the fabric is not as light as earlier models. To me, when new the fabric has a 'peached' type finish that's not really good for steamy conditions. That said, the pants do improve with age and are some of my favorite pants.
The British Khaki is a different shade than you might expect but it's grown on me, the taupe is a lighter shade than pictured and is great.
My suggestions for the suggestion box are: add a another shade of khaki, add a canvas waist liner, add odd waist sizes and give a cuffed hem option.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jackeb Strange fit
I bought these thinking they were basically the same chinos with a different fabric. I was wrong. The pant legs were long (32" should be the same from pants to pants). They also seemed to fit differently than other natural fit trousers. The colors also seem to be slightly different in real life. I returned them both.

Rated 2 out of 5 by lovegolf Fabric and drape not as good as original
I love my LLBean tropic weight pants that I bought years ago (natural fit/pleated). The fabric was lightweight and the pants looked decent coming out of the dryer. But the fabric in the current pants is not the same. It does not feel as light and airy, and thus is not as cool as the original fabric. It also doesn't drape as well. After wearing them for about a month, I have returned all three pair that I had ordered. I cheered when LLBean finally brought these tropic weight pants back in regular waist (not comfort waist), but my cheer has turned to disappointment. I think LLBean missed the boat in not ensuring that this fabric was as good as the original.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CalSenior Such limited colors!!!
Fairly good pants though my impression is not as good quality or wear as they used to be. but the big complaint are the colors. I was very happy when I saw that Bean's was bringing back the regular variety and even some chino without comfort waist. But Im looking elsewhere due to the very limited color selection. The only dark color is the nearly navy blue. How about the dark tones available in the cargo pants. Cargo and even comfort waist are rather too casual for 'business casual'.
And please do not insult our intelligence about 'free' shipping. Its gotta come from somewhere and its often the quality. Old LL may be turning in the grave.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RangerAngus I love them
I buy a fair amount of clothes from L.L.Bean , but had not purchased any chinos in a long time. I purchased these about a month ago and i think I have worn them every other day since, As promised they are light weight, ( I live in the tropics so thats great) , they hold their shape and they are very very comfortable. Over the last few years I had been purchasing much dressier chinos, at 3 times the price but was always disappointed in the comfort. you wont be with these, they are fairly unconstructed....and this leads to the light comfy feel

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wurselen Exceptional fit, style, and fabric
As long as they're reasonably durable (they look like they will be), I would classify them as my favorite pants ever.
I ordered more than one for each of the colors. (Knowing that outstanding items will sometimes sell out on LL Bean.)
Lightweight, breathable, and the nicest soft cotton. Pleasingly simple but stylish and well-tailored.
Natural fit: yea!
Plain front: yea!
Short inseams offered: yea!
