I ordered this jacket in the lovely hard to find forest fern color and really looked forward to its arrival. I ordered it specifically because it appeared semi-fitted (princess seams), making it warmer and better for layering than a loose fitting jacket.
I ordered a small. The fit was much larger in the bust and midsection than I'd expect from a small (4-5", I'm usually between a small and medium), and weirdly, the princess bust-seams are about 2-3" too low and look obviously out of place, yet the overall length is as expected. I'm 5'6, 130 lbs, 51 years old and a 34 C. I'm not petite, short or "perky". This is just an odd cut jacket for anyone other than a barrel torso-ed woman who doesn't mind mis-located princess seams competing for attention with her actual bust line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChicagoFitMom Top notch quality, fit a tad less than perfect
I think most of the reviewers here have synthesized the scoop on this item pretty well. I am 5'3"", pear shaped and weigh 132 lbs, size 38d. Usually wear small with LL Bean an ordered the same size in the heather gray and cayenne. First, the heather gray appears to be thicker and warmer than the cayenne, but the cayenne color is absolutely stunning. The reveiewers are right, the sleeves a about 1/2 inch too long and there is an odd sag between the waist and the shoulders. This is is much less pronouced in the cayenne. They are both incredibly warm, actually much warmer than a comparable product by the leading outdoor catalog seller in the same category. You can wear a thin chemise under a fairly warm turtleneck or maybe even a sweater and still have your regular size of this jacket fit comfortably. But I found myself very very toasty in 35 degree weather in Chicago with just a short tee underneath, and I am normally very sensitive to cold. The reason i decided to keep both pieces and also give a four start review was that 1) they feel fnatastically comfortable to wear and can be used in countless combinations of layering for the temperamental Chicago weather and 2) my husband who is very very picky about my wearing clothes that fit very well and also look stylish was insistent that both jackets made me look both young and stylish. He was very complimentary. since he is not easy to please and has an excellent eye for style, i am going to keep and enjoy these toasty fleece pieces. Hope this helps

Love this jacket. Excellent fit. Roomy enough to layer underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LETITSNOW2 WARM, PERFECT FIT
I bought this jacket for my daughter. She loves the cut/fit and it is true to size (medium 10-12). This size jacket can be layered with a light to medium layer. I have several of these jackets and love them all-good quality, like the front & pocket zippers, keeps me warm, and launders well (hang to dry). I recommend this item.

I am disappointed in this item because it pills very bad. It is very warm and comfortable but not up to the usual LLB standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dogged1 Warm and Toasty...and Pretty, Too!
I bought two of these (one is on back-order) to use as a layer because I am outside in this frigid weather a lot. In the spring, they can be used as a jacket alone. These are super-warm and the Polartec material is substantial without being too weighty. The material is flexible and moves with me. It washed and dried well according to directions, retaining its shape and beautiful color. It is a flattering cut, skimming feminine curves and falling at the hip. I even got compliments on it, when all I wanted was to stay warm. I am very happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Maren44 My favorite jacket!
I love everything about these jackets from their warmth to their zippered pockets. I took the Forest Fern color with me on my hiking trip to Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado this summer, and it kept me warm at elevation and visible to my family while on forested trails. It is perfect for layering both over light pieces and under the waterproof rain jacket I carried for when the mountain weather became tempermental. I've seen complaints on other reviews about the jacket being roomy in the chest area, but as someone who measures as 38C, you'll see no such comments from me. In addition to the Forest Fern color, I now own jackets in black, grey, lilac, and daylily (a great color for visibility while jogging or hiking, too, as it is very bright). I'm tempted by the teal, and if a pink jacket were to become available, I'd probably snatch that one up, too. Well done, L.L. Bean!

Rated 1 out of 5 by jeffsdate What the H happened to the fit of these?
I have two of these already and LIVE in them all winter long. (One of them is at least 4 years old.) I ordered the gray in my usual size a few weeks ago and it was tight in the hips and HUGE and poufy in the bust area -- as others have noted. Dolly Parton, anyone? I can't imagine whom these would fit!

First ....I have purchased several fleece items from LL Bean over the years with total satisfaction. Their fleece is great!
NOT this item! I bought this in the gorgeous color Daylily. I like the fit and the look of this jacket. I've worn it twice and washed it twice.
This jacket STILL sheds HORRIBLY!! Worse than my cat!
The orange fleece fuzzies and fibers is all over my car seat. It has gotten all over my clothing so badly that I have to carry my lint roller. I've cleaned my car seat, but it is still showing up on my clothes.
Both aggravated and bummed about this purchase. Also inconsistent sizing lately and cost of returns, I hesitate to make future purchases. Sorry Bean ... not a happy customer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by GratefulWife Warm coat, but really saggy-chested
Several reviewers complained that this jacket was large across the chest, but I figured they were probably wrong, since L.L.Bean has a reputation for well-designed merchandise.
Sadly, when I received this item (and also the Trail Model drawcord jacket), I was disappointed to discover that they were each so roomy across my chest that I looked like a saggy elephant. Even my husband thought the same.
(On a positive note, I could tell as soon as I put this jacket on that it was WARM, which was exactly what I was hoping for, since I work in a warehouse.)
Everywhere else--shoulders, arms, waist, length--the jacket fit perfectly. But since I do not care to go out in public looking like a half-deflated balloon across the chest, I am sadly and still coldly returning it.
