Very nice and comfortable vest, lightweight but warm. I usually wear a woman's Small but this vest was too large on me, especially in the chest area and under the arms. I am full-busted and still found it too large. I'm exchanging mine for an XS.

I bought 2 of these vests for a trip to Alaska in June. I wore one everyday as our weather was mostly cold.. It layers nicely and is warm. The pockets are great. I am a true medium and LLBeans mediums have always fit perfect. I got the charcoal and deep violet which is very pretty and looks nice with a scarf "dressed up" These are perfect vests for my climate too so I will get lots of wear out of these.

In this vest, one feels one can do anything! It is practical not just for the outdoors, but for life, for just wearing around.
So light, yet warm, and not too "sporty" and so it goes anywhere. Fabric is soft, even snuggly, but not bulky!
Looks good on Plus sizes too!
Perfectly tailored, loose and comfy but not baggy. Shoulders and collar, sometimes awkward spots, are smooth and neat. Good length, not too short as many vests can be.
Zipper is top quality, easy to use, sturdy. Not a double which would be too clunky. This looks more streamlined for a vest.
I've got a few of these so I can match a color to my mood. LLB might consider a plethora of colors, 25 or 30. At this price point, people would have fun getting shades to augment their wardrobes.
LLBean might broaden how they market this vest. A classic style, and fun colors for everyone! This vest is cute and versatile, no one should NOT be buying at least one. Make it the impulse buy, with an irresistible color for every taste. It has potential to be the purchase no one can resist.

Rated 4 out of 5 by nightgale Comfortable, classic vest
Good design all around, collar, wrist, zippers, not too tight, good material, keep warm but not bulky. Love these Vests for all seasons, except for one problem...
Colors. That is why one less star. What is orange (day lily)? Looks like a highway worker. LLB is terrible with colors, whoever is designing them in on another planet, or maybe it's a manufacturing problem. Black, gray, OK, those are basics. But what about some style? That "straw" is the ugliest color I've ever seen. Looks ok, but arrives and is a faded yellow color that will compliment no one. The Fern, OK, fun for the few people that want something shockingly different, same with that hideous orange/red. The teal is beautiful - hence it is backordered and LLB lost 2 sales today, one for me and one for mother's day, of the vest since no other color is acceptable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by nightgale Greatest vest for comfort and versatility
This fleece vest has got to be the greatest ever for classic fit, comfort, all-season warmth, durability, lightness, ease of movement, soft fabric, quality design and details, such as a good zipper and nice high collar. No wardrobe should be without one. They also look good enough to wear to real-life events, not just outdoor stuff.
Too bad the one problem is color. Look at these bizarre options, season after season: orange, neon green, yellow straw, and such. Who invents these tones that don't fit in any wardrobe or compliment any complexion? I got black and violet.
This vest (and jacket) are great LLBean style. Produce it in 20 colors - NORMAL COLORS from pink to red (normal red, not weird fire), ivory, tan, beige, sky blue, and such - and they would all sell out.

I love vests because for spring and fall because you get warmth without lots of heavy layers. This vest is the perfect example. You can really feel the difference Polartec makes in warmth, this vest is as warm as a sweatshirt. And I have dressed it up with a scarf to make it perfect for casual Fridays in the office.
Glad LL Bean brought back Polartec for this line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CosmicBlue Zippered Pockets....YES!
I really like my trail model fleece vest. I especially like the secure zippered pockets to carry my cellphone and keys. Since it has no sleeves, it doesn't limit my shoulder and arm movement or feel bulky if I wear it under my coat. I have L.L.Bean comfort fleece and trail model fleece in other jackets but prefer the weight of the trail model fleece. I also think after multiple washings that my trail model fleece looks better than my comfort fleece. The comfort fleece pockets do not have zippers. My usual medium fit well.

I loved my first Trail Model vest so much I ordered a second in 'daylily'. "Day glow orange" would be a better description. I seldom wear it because I feel it is more appropriate for working on the highway.
It's still a great vest, but I will be more careful about colors in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chiki Love this vest! More colors please!
I live in New Hampshire and chose this vest because it's warm and sturdy, and I like that it has zippered exterior pockets (it has interior pockets too!). I love that I can layer it under my winter coat, or wear it alone over a long sleeved shirt in warmer weather. I also wear it at work when my office is chilly. I could pretty much live in it! The only drawback is the limited color selection; I have three of these vests (Teal, Charcoal Heather and Violet) and now I'm kind out of color choices. It would be nice if this was available in a wider range of colors. Would love to be able to get it in some nice pastel colors.

Last year I purchased a couple of these vests in large. I loved them. They still fit and are wearing well. This year the styling has been substantially changed. The arm holes are large enough for an elephant's foot. I first ordered a large as I had last year. Fit terribly. Way too big and the arm openings were huge so I sent that back and ordered a medium. Arm openings are still too large to be wearable. They gape unattractively. Also, the fleece in this vest is stiff and coarse to the touch. I'm really disappointed. I expected a better product.
