Rated 5 out of 5 by NN4CR Anywhere vest
These traditional LLB vests are the greatest vests of all time. Warm, sturdy, high collar for neck, quality zippers, good pockets, soft fleece, thick but not too thick, nicely shaped, loose fit but still flattering, not constricting.
Suitable for athletes hiking in spring, campers needing an extra layer, couch potatoes snuggling with the remote. Always good to keep one in the car.
The colors can be strange, slightly off from what you expect, and therefore a concern for ladies to find a flattering color. The teal is really pretty, so is the dark purple. The straw was hideous, but I'm sure someone liked it. As long as LLB keeps adding new colors each year and keeps the black and they very nice gray, we will be OK.

The vest is well made. Not too heavy, a good vest to wear under a turtleneck and keep warm. We actually bought 2 in different colors...

I bought a large peitite. I normally wear an XL petite, but the XL was enormous. The L has a close fit but isn't skin tight.
I love the fit! As other reviewers have said, pear shapes may not like it. But it is good for apple and rectangular shapes. The chest is a bit large, but not enormous like the XL was.
I cut out the bungee draw-cord around the bottom. At its loosest setting it was too small. It constantly hung up on my hips as I move around.
As other reviewers say, even the petitie is longish. But it is shorter than the regular. Now that the bungee is gone I just roll the bottom when I sit so it doesn't puff up into my face. If there'd been a 2-way zip I'd have given this 5 stars.
The collar stands a bit high for petite. It covers my chin. I prefer collars to end below my chin.
The fabric is substantial and warm. This isn't a thin fleece. It's texture gives the color a variegated look.
I really like the huge pockets. They zip shut too.
I'm considering a second one since Bean's hasn't carried a basic fleece vest with this fit in petitie in a long time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by OregonNana What happened to sizing?
I have an LL Bean fleece vest from a few years ago that I just love and have worn a lot. I was ready for a new color but have been really disappointed in the current Trail Model fleece vest. My previous vest was a Large/ Regular and it fit perfect. That is what I ordered only to find it way too big in the armholes and too long. So I returned it for a Large/Petite. This size is no better. The armholes are 3 inches larger than my vest from a few years ago and the Petite is an inch longer than my previous Regular. And the body is 2" bigger around. And to top it all off the embroidered logo on the front is sewn crooked. I am giving up on this model. Back it goes. Looking elsewhere for a new vest.

Rated 3 out of 5 by NMDreamer Nice weight but odd fit
As others have said, this version simply does not fit as well as the old Trail Model Vest. I've been holding on to an old and very well worn version and hoped to find one to replace it at last. The old one is a Misses Regular. I bought a Misses Petite now that they are available (yay!!). The petite vest was several inches longer than the old regular version. It was larger through the arm holes and narrower through the hips. The extra length and odd shape emphasized all the wrong things on this pear shaped body, and I looked dowdy in it. I never felt that way (and still don't) about the old vest.
I wasn't bothered by the lack of a bottom-up zipper option only because these vests never had that feature, but in the new long length, it's absolutely necessary and a big miss.
I'll be returning this and trying to keep my old vest from falling apart.
I really hope LLBean gets the message and returns to the shape that worked so well in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by JJNH Cut is different from previous year model
In spite of what the product description says, it is NOT a relaxed fit. It is FITTED. Also, if you buy petite, you'll find that is too long even in the petite length. The fleece material seems good quality, but, very thick and bulky. Very unflattering look overall. I have two trail model jackets and one vest from the previous years. They had truly relaxed fit and petite length.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MidnightBlue pros & cons
I ordered both this and the fleece-lined fitness vest. Will review the latter separately. Not sure which I will keep--wish I could combine the good features of both. Re this one:
Pros-?love the color, fabric, warmth, lightweight and longer length (than some in the past?I'm 5' 51/2", and also longer than the fitness vest). Great that it's recycled too (some previous versions of the recylced fleece haven't felt right).
Cons?no 2 -way zipper (fitness vest has) which is really needed since it's trim fitting in the hips. Would really help comfort when sitting down (it bunches up a lot of zipped up) or if one just wants a looser fit a the bottom over layers. Most all my Bean jackets & vests (even shorter ones, where its not as necessary) have a 2-way zip, and this one really needs one. This may be a deal-breaker for me. Armholes are very large so gap, even over a sweater.
I'm size 8-10, so between a small and a medium in Bean clothes depending on the style & cut. I got a small in this. It fits trim in the hips though I'd prefer an extra inch or so, especially wearing over sweaters and without a 2-way zip! It's perfect in the midsection and length, and chest is roomy but okay. I couldn't size up to a medium as armholes would be way too huge and chest too big as well.

I placed my order online on Friday and Monday morning my vest had arrived. It is exactly as pictured and described. Solid construction, sturdy zippers, good shape and strong seems. I ordered the green teal and it looks exactly as pictured. I am vegan and have a winter coat which is synthetic wool with no lining. I bought the vest to add some warmth for my torso without adding bulk. I live in Upstate NY and winters get very cold here (mostly below 20 F). I was able to wear the vest today, zipped up over my suit jacket and was still able to button my coat as the fleece is thin and fitted. I should also note that I ordered the 3X and normally wear a 2X. There is just enough wiggle room without being tight but not too much. I was also elated when I read on the tag that these vests are made from 50% recycled materials. I didn't see that in the listing but felt so good about my purchase after reading that. Thank you LL Bean for considering the environment and that your customers also want to make eco-conscious purchases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fidalgoshopper Great vest and earth tone: more, please, LLBean!
It's very hard to find women's outerwear in warm earth tones, especially from LLBean. Black-gray-navy-purple-burgundy-blue-white (or bright primary colors) are the usual offerings. So I especially appreciate this warm, spicy russet. "Cayenne" is the perfect name for it. Good fit, well made: I'm going to be wearing this a lot! LLBean, please give us "springs" and "autumns" more warm, earthy color choices!
