The jacket runs true to size. I am 5'5" and a true size 14. I ordered the jacket in both large and extra large, and the large fits the best. The XL seems to have a lot of extra fabric and the sleeves are too long. This coat in large hits just below my hips. The sleeves are the right length. Although I haven't tried it in cold weather yet, it seems quite warm and cozy, and I like the zippered front pockets and inside drawstring.

I always read ppl's reviews on items and on this item some said it ran big, some it was just right and some said it ran small. So I debated on ordering the 1x in Gray but decided against it and went with my usual size XL and am so glad I did, because it fits great. If anything it is a little roomy in the arms in case I want to wear a heavier top. I guess it all depends on the individual. Its a chance we all take when ordering online. Anyways this is a great weight also, may think about getting another color.

I got this jacket in XS Petite in black and it fits perfectly! I'm small framed, 5'1, 100 lbs. I was hesistant to buy this size thinking it would be too small but if anything it runs a little big and that's great for a jacket. So if you're a petite person do not be afraid about it being too small. It's comfortable and flattering and I love that it does not have elastic cuffed sleeves.

I just got this jacket in the mail today. I am 5'7, med build so I purchased a size medium and the color grey. It's a nice medium grey color and will go with a lot. It has a good fit with a little extra room in back shoulder area which is great for layering underneath. I just ordered the packaway vest tonight in the ruby coral color so I hope that is as nice as it looks online.

I purchased this item in Cayenne colour, XS regular. The colour is as shown and the size is larger than I expected from an XS but it is good for the intended use (camping) as I will be able to fit another, tighter, fleece or a large wool sweater below. I am 5'2" (petite) and 120 pounds. I decided not to take the petite sizing to have more space and a longer back and sleeve length (for better protection and warmth while camping). If you are my size and needs a jacket true to size, I recommend buying a petite XS.
This item will be perfect for camping, gardening, or for after a session at the gym but not for the city, as it looks really "comfy" (large and slouchy). I like the cinch waist and the length which goes just below my bum. The hood is tight around the face and fits easily under a rain jacket hood, it will be perfect for long evening at the campsite. It is really warm.
I was happy to see that it has inside pockets (the material used to make the pockets has an opening at the top which is perfect for sliding a cell phone ou a small wallet. This was not indicated on the website and is really useful. I included a picture to show this (please note the jacket isn't as bright as on my picture, the website colour is right on).
What could be improved? One major annoyance (for delicate me) is the top of the zipper: there is not chin guard/protection and those zippers get really annoying when you wear a fleece all day (as I do when camping). Particularly with a jacket that has a longer neck (good for keeping heat in) and a hood. This is the only thing to improve and the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5.

I am 5'1", 125 lbs, with a very curvy hourglass figure. I bought an XS Petite and it is the right fit. I ordered a non-petite jacket first, but because of the trim/cut of the jacket, the fabric in the bust sat a little lower than it should have on me and looked "baggy".
I frequently have a hard time finding shirts/jackets that fit my hips without being "poofy" in the waist. The drawcord solves that problem. I love that the jacket is slightly longer around the hips so that it slims my bum and flatters my curves. The hood is a nice touch - it cups around your face evenly (not too tight, not too loose) so that the wind can't blow it off. I also love the teal color - it hides dark and light pet hair! ;-)

I love this jacket like a child loves a favorite blankie. I love the thick fleece, the asset-covering length, the zip pockets, and the attached hood. I wear this for dog walking, by itself or as the perfect toasty layer under a waterproof jacket. In the evening, as soon as the work clothes come off and the comfy clothes go on, this is what I reach for. Now I want a light blue one and a navy one - maybe next season?

Rated 2 out of 5 by GratefulWife Comfortable, but too saggy-chested
Several reviewers complained that this jacket was large across the chest, but I figured they were probably wrong, since L.L.Bean has a reputation for well-designed merchandise.
Sadly, when I received this item (and also the regular Trail Model fleece jacket), I was disappointed to discover that they were each so roomy across my chest that I looked like a saggy elephant. Even my husband thought the same.
(On a positive note, I could tell as soon as I put this jacket on that it was WARM, which was exactly what I was hoping for, since I work in a warehouse.)
Everywhere else--shoulders, arms, waist, length--the jacket fit perfectly. But since I do not care to go out in public looking like a half-deflated balloon across the chest, I am sadly and still coldly returning it.
