Rated 5 out of 5áby asmithsgirl Held its own: MI winter 2014
I thankfully bought this coat in fall 2013 prior to the record breaking winter this year in Michigan. This coat was so light weight, but I was never cold this winter. The fit and style were flattering, and I received a number of compliments. I liked the long length to keep me nice and warm, though it was a little harder to zip. I have not had any issues with the arm/sleeve length as mentioned by some reviewers -- for me it fit perfectly, unlike some I coats I tried on at the mall that were too long or too wide open at the wrist. The coats at the department stores were either not flattering, too heavy and bulky, not warm enough, or a combination of these issues, so I took the chance and ordered this one without being able to try it on. I would like to see this come in more colors!
I have not figured out how to keep the hood tight -- my old LL Bean coat had a simple mechanism that this one does not seem to have, so this one did not stay tight for me when I needed it to.

I am 5'2, 115 lbs and purchased the Petite Small in black. It is soooooo light wirght ,yet very warm. I love the hood on very cold, windy, or snowy days. We've had a very cold winter and this coat has gotten quite the workout and has pulled through.
There is room for imporvement. The zipper should be a large/wide zipper like one would find on ski gear. This coat is a bit of a pain to bend over and find the zipper apparatus to initiate zipping it up. A zipper storm flap would be nice as well. I would like larger pockets, but I love the fleece lining in the pockets. I would have liked fleece around the inside cuff area and an adjustable cuff. I suppose. With just a few changes, it would be absolutely perfect. I would pay more money for these features.

Rated 4 out of 5áby lunamiela Great coat but not as warm as stated
I just ordered this coat to replace a long down coat that I have been wearing all winter and have gotten sick of. While I love how light and flattering this coat is, I would not wear it in temps below 15 degrees. I have long commutes which include walks over the Chicago River and this coat is not warm enough for those walks in frigid weather. I also wish the sleeves were longer. I sized up to a medium so that I could wear thick sweaters underneath and while the sizing works, the sleeves are still a bit short for my liking. I am 5'6" and weigh 115 pounds.

Like this coat. Warm & light. Really wish it was mid-thigh length instead of knee-length.

Rated 5 out of 5áby GreenAppleGal Best Coat I Ever Purchased for Below Zero Weather
Buy this coat if you are in need of a light weight warm winter coat.
I bought this to take to Wisconsin during the cold weeks of Jan/Feb 2014.
This coat has lived up to everything LLBean has promised!!!
Worth the money!
It was -30 to -40 in Madison,WI and I never felt cold wearing this coat. It was so lightweight I could fold it up and carry it in my backpack or handbag.
Thank you LLBean for such an exceptional product.
A GreenAppleGal from NY.

I wanted a lighter weight coat that would still be extra warm for commuting. This coat is perfect. I wear a petite small. Everywhere I go people ask me about my coat. The plum color is beautiful and the hood is great. Thanks for making this coat.

Rated 4 out of 5áby sariedos Short Sleeves!
Super warm coat, but the sleeves are too short. I'm 5'7" and a size 2 and the XS sleeves don't completely cover my wrists. They don't have anything other than the cuff on the sleeve (no soft fabric to extend it) which means that there is a gap between my gloves and my sleeves. The coat is a bit too big as well, but I can get by with a sweater underneath and not feel too baggy. Unfortunately the sleeve thing is really a problem so I think I have to send it back.

Rated 3 out of 5áby RTR14 Sizing is off
I bought this coat in S and XS, because I wasn't sure which one would fit better.
I tried them both on. I am 5'5'' and about 119 lbs. Size SMALL was too large around the waist, they really should have made the coat a little more fitted in the middle section, because I looked like I had no waist and the coat was not flattering at all. The sleeves were JUST right, I would probably like them to be even longer, but they were ok. I would expect them to be on the short side for someone taller than me. See, not all short people are slim, and not all tall people are on the heavy side. So, if you need size SMALL but you are tall, - there is going to be an issue with the sleeves of this coat.
Next, I tried size EXTRA SMALL. It was fitting better overall, but again, I could have taken a better fit in the waist. It seems almost like they made the coat like a rectangle...
(I could have easily worn size SMALL, if it was smaller in the waist.)
The biggest problem with XS was the fact that the hood was pulling on my head when on. It meant that overall, size XS was NOT meant for people taller than 5'5", which is strange - I am not super tall.
So, I am debating to keep the XS or return both, because I can still tolerate the hood, though uncomfortable...
P.s. - did not try it outside yet, just a short walk to the car in about 10 degrees F - was warm enough. But that was a real short walk.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Wrex6278 Very light, good looking
I bought both the XS and S to compare, and kept the Small because it offers more room to wear with a bulky sweater or suit jacket. It still retains a nice shape (per my husband). The coat is very light and comfortable. My only complaint is the length of the sleeves is almost, (but not quite) too short. I am used to longer sleeves that extend to the bottom of the hand. The length comes to the wrist exactly and could stand to be a bit longer.

Rated 4 out of 5áby MDCust Ultralight 850 Down Coat, Long
Purchased for my wife. She loves that it is so light and comfortable. It is excellent quality and very well made. Her only complaint is that while it is warm it is does not have the equivalent warmth of one of the heavier down insulated coats. So it is a wonderful light and warm coat but do not expect equivalent warmth to one of the heavier insulated down garments.
