Rated 3 out of 5 by purplecrone Fabric catches easily & not very warm
I own several shirts similar to this. Decided to give this brand a try but was disappointed for 2 reasons. 1) the fabric catches on almost anything and snags. 2) not nearly as warm as my other similar tops. (I use them as layers for skiing and winter hiking). But the styling is nice. Wish the fabric was better and warmer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by llbeanershopaholic One of my favorite purchases.....out of many....
I really love this shirt, I have worn it regularly this winter on its own, not as a layer. It is super comfortable, washes well, dries fast, and just all around a winner. I am size 12, and went with a large. It is one of those shirts that I grab when I don't know what to wear. I've used it for snowshoeing (fabulous warmth and functionality), and casual wear. I highly recommend.

Gave this item as a gift and I noticed it quickly became part or her go-to everyday cold weather gear. She loves the thumbholes and swears they help keep her hands warm during outside activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by eurekabeaner Love the new fabric, . . .
. . . love the shirts. I bought the midweight zip in berry (last year's color?) and the lightweight zip in smoke. Also have a lightweight and midweight from a couple years ago in the old fabric. All in Medium Reg except berry is Med Pet. (Thank you LLB for the petites!!) I'm 5'0", 145#, about 38-32-40. If you are familiar with the old ones, the fit is virtually indistinguishable - the stretch fabric hasn't changed that. If not, fit is pretty true to size (I usually get Med LLB tops, occasionally Lg depending on styling and intended purpose - Lg was too big in these), relatively speaking maybe a bit more ease in shoulders & chest and trimmer through waist & hip (but still not too snug or clingy over my clearly plump middle). Back length of the Med Reg is about 26-1/2 - 27 inches and the Med Pet is about 1 - 1-1/2" shorter - pretty long but good for maintaining a substantial overlap between top & pants. Sleeves are about 3" too long on me of course, probably long enough for most everybody though the longest arms might not be able to comfortably use the thumbholes (which I used to think I didn't care about but use more & more when gloves might be overkill but hands need a little cover). Pet. sleeves are about an inch+ shorter than Reg. One fit anomaly (I almost don't want to mention it, so it doesn't get changed!) is that the sleeves seem to be cut somewhat generously- a pleasant surprise for those of us who frequently struggle with sleeves that are too tight in the upper arm.
Love the new fabric - soft, cozy, less "stiff" more drape-y than the old but not clingy, stretch lets you pull up the sleeves if temps (or you) warm up. Unlike other reviewers, I found the flatlock stitching to be reasonably soft, certainly not as scratchy as in this year's Beansport tops.
I use these shirts almost exclusively for moderate to vigorous hiking & snowshoeing Fall through Spring, temps as low as10 and as high as 55 degrees, so the wicking, drying, insulate when damp properties are crucial and these shirts seem to perform well - and breathe/vent well if you're warmer than expected. (Of course, I haven't yet used the stretch ones in all temp ranges - I'm assuming the bit of stretch is not going to change the fabric performance.) In the top part of that temp range, I can wear them mostly alone, a light 2nd layer for lunch stop, top of ridge with wind, not working hard coming down. At bottom of temp range, a light to mid down or fleece layer and mid-weight shell will probably be enough. I understand another reviewer's questioning whether these are "base layers" - they are substantial pieces, NOT thin & tight, not going to "hide" under anything but the bulkiest sweater.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SamanthaMT It all depends on what one considers a base layer.
It all depends on what one considers a ?base layer.? I purchased this on the premise that I would wear it under my sweater and winter coat?thinking it would be a close fit on the body. However, these fit more like a second or third layer as there is plenty room to wear a shirt under the top. It fits well, but as a pull over and not as a ?base layer.?
For reference: 5?6? 160 lbs, size 8 jean, size M/L in tops, and measurements are 40-30-39?I have a rather large bust, arms, and shoulders. I ordered the medium.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Timms Perfect fit but picks easily
I bought these tops for each of my teenage daughters for Christmas last year to wear skiing. The tops fit beautifully (Size XS for my 115lb daughter and Size S for my 125lb daughter) and my daughters really love the turquoise colour. The only trouble with them is that the fabric picks and snags very easily leaving them looking worn very quickly.
I purchased the similar but thicker Expedition Weight top for myself last winter because I am always cold and it doesn't pick at all and stays looking new . In fact, the Expedition Weight top and bottoms are the warmest under garments I've ever had and despite the frigid winter last year, I was stayed warm all day skiing. That is a first for me as I am always freezing!! Please bring back the Expedition Weight tops and bottoms!

Rated 4 out of 5 by nhseacoaster Warm and Sporty Pullover
Great pullover for layering or as a mid weight sweatshirt for spring weather. I typically prefer fleece pullovers because they are more cozy for winter. But I like the color and feel of this one. I also like the fact that this pullover is slightly fitted rather than boxy. I'm 5' 5" and slender.
My 13-year-old daughter (5' 1") also liked this pullover so I got her an XS. It's a little big on her, but she loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shelley123 Power Dry Stretch Base Layer, Midweight Quarter-Zi
I absolutely love this shirt, feels great wearing it, looks great too. I purchased an xs per another review that I read, as I am 5'2" 108, and the shirt fit exactly as she said it would. The best part is my husband loves the shirt on me as well. I would recommend this shirt to anyone. I bought the black with white trim.
