I've tried many different styles and quantities of bags to accommodate my "portable office". This bag fulfills all of my space and organizational needs. I love this bag! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking at consolidating their "portable office" into one comfortable bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AmandaInMI Beautiful bag but strap is not wide/strong enough
Sorry but this beautiful bag is not what I was looking for to carry my books. There is something off about the strap. The pad on the strap is great but the the strap itself is not long enough, wide enough or strong enough feeling. Disappointed to return but this is the first item I have ever returned! It might work for you but I carry a heavy load daily.

I'm a high school teacher, and 5'2". I was looking for a bag that was big enough to hold my laptop & iPad (both required for school) as well as a small number of papers to be graded and my paper gradebook and a small notebook.
I also wanted it small enough that I couldn't bring home everything under the sun, since I rarely have time to grade everything at home. This bag has worked out GREAT for this purpose.
It fits me perfectly - with other messenger bags I often felt outsized - like they were just too large for my frame. This is definitely perfect for a short-to-midsize female. It comfortably fit my laptop (a lenovo thinkpad 14" screen) and my iPad. There wasn't a TON of room for other stuff - so once charging cables, usb drives, notebook etc. got put in the bag was full. This doesn't bug me as it makes me really consider what I NEED to carry with me.
The only downside is that there wasn't a pocket that's a good size for a water bottle. But, all told I'm willing to live without it.
I love the purple color, it's a darker color and looks beautiful.
All in all, highly recommended!

While padding is a good idea considering this is designed to carry a lap-top, the padding at the front in the smaller zippered pockets decreases the amount of usable space in those pockets, makes them "stiff" and awkward. The pocket on the side is oddly shaped, not practical for a water bottle (which is what I hoped to use it for) even with a zipper. There's a small piece of webbing in this side pocket, not sure what that's for. there's a zippered mesh pocket next to where the lap-top would be carried, not sure what that's for, papers maybe, but it's constructed rather tightly against the lap-top sleeve. Unfortunately, will be returning. the one good thing about it is in addition to being able to use a large-sized piece of velcro to secure the bag, there are also buckles. And I agree with another reviewer who wishes this style bag had a zipper across the top to secure the contents that way.

Bought this bag to use for work. It has lots of pockets in it and is a nice water resistant material. I walk a couple blocks to work everyday and wanted a bag that wouldn't get saturated in the rain or snow. Have only had the bag 2 weeks but love it so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by twokidsanddogs Practical daily use bag
I like: * the size (made for a woman's frame)
* The inner handle, for use when the flap is open
* The assortment of pockets, for stashing many things
* Being able to fit my lunch bag along with laptop, planner and books
* The broad should strap that doesn't slide when I am rushing
* The durable cover that withstands unceremonious dumping several times a day
I'm not sure if I will use the different color straps provided.
One problem: the front pocket bulges when fully loaded, and the velcro sticks as I try to pull the flap down.
Overall, this bag meets my needs admirably.

Rated 4 out of 5 by altorecorder Darn near perfect.
This bag is comfortable and well-balanced, holding everything I ask it to hold. Considering how much it holds, it is not particularly bulky, and fits almost anywhere. I have the plum color, and get positive comments about the bag's attractiveness.
Of course, it could be even better:
the hook & loop fastener on the main front flap is too noisy, and I had a panic when I couldn't find the theater tickets in a little inside pocket, so a lighter-colored lining fabric, and/or contrasting zipper color would be helpful!

Rated 4 out of 5 by DachshundFriend Right Size, Strap Issues
This bag is wonderful for me for school. I am currently taking one class in college. I can carry one largish textbook, a small binder, my tablet, my wallet, cell, keys, and sunglasses easily. I can also get some snacks and other items in.
I wanted a bag that was not huge as I am only on campus for a few hours and with one class and this is perfect.
My one complaint is that I am a big girl (5'8" and plus size) and the strap is a little shorter than I would like. I would like it to be about 6 inches longer to comfortably wear it cross body. I can do so, but I would like the bag to ride a little lower. Additionally, the strap adjustment is not the double over strap found on many other bags, so any adjustments cause the strap to flap in the breeze. This is the reason for the bag losing a star.
I did not want the men's version as color important to me and the men's (or unisex) is also a little larger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by InternationalTexan Great messenger bag!
I've had this messenger bag for a few months now and it's great! I use it to commute to work and for travel and it has plenty of room for my daily and travel needs.
The strap has an adjustable pad and is pretty comfortable. It has one large main pocket with a laptop sleeve and a slightly padded pocket that's suitable for a tablet. It easily accommodates a 13" laptop and a tablet with room for other essentials. There are four other pockets that are also useful. There's a small pocket on the flap that's perfect for keys, phone, an mp3 player, or other small things you want easily accessible. There's a side pocket that's similar. There are two pockets on the front, underneath the flap that are good for other small things you'd like to keep track of but don't need super-easy access to like the other 2 pockets.
It easily accommodates what I take to work daily or what I like to take on an airplane carry on. It's held up very well and the materials are very solid. Both LL Bean and Osprey have great customer service, so in the event that something did go wrong (unlikely) it would be easily rectified, I suspect.
