Rated 4 out of 5 by Electron Good Shirt, Miss the Washable Version
One of my favorite shirts of all time was definitely L. L. Bean's washable wool field shirt. I like solid-colored wool field shirts as they're good for both hiking/backpacking and casual wear. The Washable Wool Field Shirt has been unavailable for some time now, so when I saw this I thought I'd give it a try. It's a nice shirt. Well made, good looking, fits well. I'm not quite as fond of it as the previously available washable version, however. Not being washable is a pain. Further, it seems that the finish on the washable shirt also served to make it more resistant to cat hair. Less of a concern for anyone who doesn't have pets obviously, but I found this shirt to gather hair quite quickly.
Overall it's a good shirt, and I'll probably buy more someday if the washable one doesn't come back. Good wool shirts are hard to find these days, and L. L. Bean's prices on them are a little better than most others. I do miss the washable wool shirt though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by iris44 Nice shirt - tight weave - bought it for my son.
My son liked the shirt & couldn't tell it was wool, saying: "It doesn't feel like wool" as it was so smooth. My only complaint was that I ordered this shirt in the evening, and the next morning all items were 15% off.....wish I'd known, could've saved $15!!!!!:(

I was expecting a much heavier shirt similar to a shirt once known as a CPO shirt. What you call a field shirt, I would describe as a handsome woll dress shirt. While I will keep your shirt, I found it necessary to find the shirt that I wanted elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Grayhair Too much material
Nice shirt. I like the material and the fit at the shoulders, BUT there is way too much material at the bottom. It is three or four inches bigger around than all my other LL Bean shirts, making it difficult to tuck into my jeans. There are also a few flaws in the stitching on some of the seams. Not really up to my usual LL Bean expectations.
