I am tall and generally wear an XL women's size at LL Bean just because I like coats to be roomy for sweaters and blazers. I have 3 LL Bean coats which fit me beautifully - plenty of room and no constriction in the arms at all. I could even have bought an L comfortably (I have a long quilted down coat, barn coat, and ski jacket). This coat is just strange. I LOVED it when I saw it online but the fit is bizarre. It is very constricting in the arms and shoulders, but plenty of room in chest and hips. I had to remove my sweater to wear it. I wanted to love it so much but the arms seem size M and the rest seems size XL. Also, it would be great to have a hood (detachable) and also great if it came in Women's sizes. I would have exchanged for a 1x to see if arms/shoulder room improved. LL Bean - please tweak this jacket! It's a great price and potentially amazing item.

I was very excited to get this coat as I travel a lot and this light-weight but warm coat seemed perfect. Unfortunately, I couldn't button it up all the way. I do have ample hips, but I have an LLBean raincoat (size XL) which fits perfectly. This coat is a bit straighter than the raincoat, but I expected some consistency in the sizing. When I checked LLBean's sizing charts for the coat, hip size is not shown. When I checked their general sizing chart, my hip measurements fit in the hip size range shown for an XL. I would be willing to get a larger size, but it is not offered. LLBean - please pay attention to your own information and size your clothing and coats appropriately. This is going back.

I just got this coat yesterday and I already love it. It is warm and it fits perfectly. I also like the length as it is not too long.

My new navy quilted riding coat arrived today, a mere 2 days after it was ordered. I am just so happy with this purchase. I ordered a petite large (normally wear an LL Bean size 14 petitie in pants), and the fit and proportions were just perfect. Love it!

Previously, I owned the shorter version from a few years ago and loved it. It was time for a new one but I don't like the style changes made to the shorter length (snaps not buttons, different collar, different pocket style).
The longer version still has buttons and the double breasted collar, which I think give a more polished look. However, I find that this version runs bigger. I ended up with size small and have plenty of room for a sweater underneath (5ft 6in, 135lbs) whereas before I had a medium with the same fit.

Good quality coat. I love it. I usually wear Mp, but this coat runs a little to small. Is not room for heavy sweater. I am 150 and D cup bra. But definitely is ok because I can move my arms and another thing, is not heavy.

My riding coat arrived today, and it is so sleek and chic in black and I just love it. It makes me look a size or two slimmer! I'm 5'8", 150 lbs. and the Large is a perfect fit but I don't look large in it. If it goes on sale I may buy another one, though I certainly don't need any more coats. I like to wear colorful cashmere scarves as soon as the weather turns chilly and they'll look good with the neckline. A long sleeved tee or a flannel shirt fits just fine under this coat. I think the price is fair. Thanks, LLBean!

This is the 2nd time I ordered and returned a petite xs coat from LL Bean. I got the measurements of the garments before the orders, the sizing differences between petite and regular are in the sleeve length and the center back length, they are not proportionally sized for petite. I wish LL Bean change its practice in sizing.
I am 5'2" & 110 lb, petite 2 or xs from other brands generally fits well for me, but unfortunately not from LL Bean.

I bought the earlier version of this riding jacket and was so disappointed when it was discontinued. My daughter was always wearing mine and I wanted to get her one. Was happy to see the "new" verson come out and bought her one so she would leave mine for me to wear! She loves it, says it's cosy, comfortable and just warm enough for the betweeen seasons. Great coat please keep it out as I may need a different color.
