While the price was good and these hikers have a nice appearance, they rubbed my wife's ankles raw at the very first use. Forget making allowances for 'break-in', they are going back! There are many good LLB selections to choose from, this is just not one of them!

These looked like really nice boots and I was excited that they came in a wide size. Color is really nice and so are the laces but that's it.
Just got them and they are like bricks on the feet. Not comfortable at all so I'm returning them. Really uncomfortable and I got a 1/2 size larger after reading the reviews.
I saw the reviews and can't believe these can be worn since they are made of a very hard materials.
I'm very disappointed and am returning them.

I read reviews and couldn't decide which size so I ordered my normal size in boots 8 which was too small so I returned & ordered an 8.5. I did like the blue color and the 8.5 felt better and was happy until I decided to wash my car. Well, needless to say when I was done I couldn't understand why my right foot was damp and not my left. I didn't deliberately intend to get them wet but they're hiking boots. if I can't wash my car how can I tread small/light streams. I returned both I ordered the cresta hiking boot which is more rugged, warmer & more to my liking. Thank you LLBean for such prompt return & turn around time. I've been shopping with you for years and always pleased with your customer service.

Excellent fit. True to size, Amazing support, kept my feet warm and dry. The color is also a perfect shade, I usually take an 8 but opted for an 8 1/2 and had a wee bit of room left but sill very comfortable. True to size for sure!! Either size would have fit perfectly. Im usually in heels so trying to find a fashionable rugged boot has been quite the search for me. FINALLY I found a boot that is durable, comfortable AND FASHIONABLE Love my boots !! I also purchased the Baxter State Parka. A great match. This is my second purchase with LL Bean and will certainly purchase again without hesitation. Customer Service was also very willing to answer all my questions. I never felt rushed and they weren't pushy.

these boots are comforable and fit well. I have wide feet and have a hard time finding hiking boots that come in a wide width. When I first put these on I knew I would like them.the width was perfect as was the lenght....

I am super happy with my boots. The fit is perfect! I have wide feet and finding a boot that came in a wide width was not easy until if hit the LL Bean site, they had plenty. I got the color, style and size I was looking for, all within my budget. Rarely do you find something that fits all your needs but this boot hit the mark on all four counts. I put them on right away and they were great from day one, breakin was not really an issue.

I'm a size 11, always. Size 10 1/2 is always too small, size 11 1/2 is always too big. Size 11 is always just right. I also have never needed narrow or wide shoes. The one exception to all of this is another pair of L.L. Bean hiking boots I bought many years ago. They were size 11 and they were really tight. Based on that experience and the reviews here, I thought for sure size 11 would be too small. Boy was I wrong. I can freely wiggle all ten of my toes in there!
I'm not sure what L.L. Bean is trying to do with their bigger sizes - it seems they're trying to accommodate everything from a size 10 1/2 to a size 12 with this one shoe size. (They recommend if you're a size 10 1/2 to get the size 11. I'd recommend to you to try the 10 first.)
To L.L. Bean I'd recommend making half shoe sizes to accommodate all those sizes. Your size 11 Katahdin Hiker is huge. There's no way I'll be able to use them. If I were in a colder climate I might use them with three or four pairs of socks, but I'm in Northern California, so that won't work.
The good news here is that if you are a size 11 1/2 or 12, there's a good chance this shoe will fit you.

I have to wear orthotics, and a 1/2 size up was perfect. Roomy enough inside for thick sock, sturdy enough outside to wear on a work site or to climb a mountain. Great price, nice looking. Love them.

These boots seem to be a good fit for people with wide feet. I did have to go up one half size to get the fit I wanted. Have only used them once since I purchased them so will see how they do later this summer.
