I bought these shoes to replace my golf shoes. They are waterproof and I do not slip when I swing the golf club. The shoe is great, very comfortable. My only complaint, the laces are a little too long.

I must say that LL Bean is my favorite all-time retailer for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately I've returned a few items recently that just don't seem to fit correctly and I'd be doing the same now but would be embarrassed to do so. I've been wearing this model for a few months now hoping that it would miraculously transform. It has not. This shoe is stiff both in the sole and leather upper. Neither has seemed to change. The sole is nice and thick and should well prevent such problems as rocks/pebbles poking your sole but it has little cushion. The eyelets are great but unfortunately as stated by others (I've contacted LL Bean customer service about this in the past) the laces are awful and do not stay tied. It should not be up to the buyer to purchase a decent set of laces for a new pair of shoes. One of the worst problems is that the soles are a magnet for wet mown grass and that cleaning it from the nooks and crannies that put English muffins to shame is at best a daunting task. Since one of my reasons for buying the shoe was to walk in wet grass this characteristic is quite unappealing.

I bought this water proof leather boot in preparation for a trip to Iceland. I was impressed by the comfort/smooth fit/solid construction but had to return the first pair that I ordered. I usually wear a size 10D but had to order a 10.5W. That size gave me a perfect fit even with one of llBean's wool boot socks. I used them for hicking up volcanoes and the streets of Reykjavik. They were very comfortable and kept my feet warm and dry; they also look terrific. I'll use them many times in my world travels and around the neighborhood. I'd recommend them to my best friend but, buy them large. I would have given them 5 stars but for the size issue.

Purchased for my husband he said they are a perfect fit and feel great on his feet he said they were really comfy!! These were a really good price for the quality you get..thanks LL Bean.

Buy a pair of shoelaces before you try to wear them. LL Bean should put a free pair of laces in each pair of shoes. They are comfortable, but the right shoe and the left shoe look slightly different in style. I can picture one factory making the right shoe and another making the left shoe.

After reading the reviews, I almost wonder if I received the same shoes they describe.
The biggest problem is that they're not waterproof. Both shoes got damp in the front where the sole meets the upper after walking less than 10 minutes on city streets in moderate rain. Glad I avoided the puddles.
While they felt good when I first put them on, my pair in 11.5W is wide enough in the midfoot but the toebox is less roomy than in most wide shoes, both in width and height. Inner folds of leather on either side of the tongue press very uncomfortably on the upper sides of my feet, though this might wear in over time.
Finally, the 46" laces are too short to allow doubleknotting, a surprising goof given how easy it would be to fix.
Since most people seem very happy with these, take my review with a grain of salt, I guess.

I bought these to replace the NB walking / cross training sneakers I was using. Best shoe upgrade I ever made! These have the support of a leather hiking boot, but are light weight due to the lower cut. I got the wide size, but they still seem to be a little narrower then expected. Still comfortable and I am very happy.

i usually have trouble finding shoes to fit and feel good. the moment i tried these on they were great. still loving them after all day on my feet. i have a wide foot, these fit and still look good.

My Dad really took to these. He said they fit great, true to size (I ordered the 11.5 wide per his instructions), and they certainly looked good on--classier than other wet-weather footwear. He wore them out on a soggy Christmas afternoon and reported dry feet later, so I'm happy.

I bought this shoe for my husband for Christmas. He has worn it every day since.
I was worried about the width but it fit very well. He says they are very comfortable and he likes they way they look, casual but not too rugged. He wants me to order another pair.
