Rated 3 out of 5 by Kayak14 Nice lightweight jacket, but.....
This is an attractive lightweight jacket with a comfort level at 40F. This jacket is not water resistant, in fact it absorbs water leaving you cold and soaked

I love the jacket BUT totally agree with some of the negative comments --- the zipper will NOT close and I just asked for a new coat. The arms are tight and there should be an interior pocket. Large worked fine except no heavy sweater..just light one. Zipper keeps cold out if it works and it was waterproof in recent rain. I got the black one and again love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nycllbeaner Great jacket!
I am compelled to write a review of this jacket as I have been using exclusively for the past month here in NYC. The weather has been chilly / cold / wet. This jacket has been perfect in all conditions. It's light weight, not bulky & long enough to wear over blazers. It keeps me warm but not so much that I overheat. It's the perfect jacket in my opinion. Looks polished for wearing to work with trousers yet sporty with jeans and boots on weekends. It's slightly tapered at the high waist and very flattering. I was considering another very expensive brand but happened to try this on and was so happy with the look and fit that I decided to give it a try. Excellent value, 100% recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Babs45 Great coat, But !
I bought this coat a little over a month ago. It is a great coat for everyday and if the weather turn really cold putting a lightweight vest underneath gives extra warmth. However it has the worst zipper I have ever encounterd on a coat !! It has a double pull which is fine, but the top pull is small and hard to get a hold of to open the coat in the normal manner, while the pull from the bottom is large and gets in the way when zippering the coat both on and off. You need to address this annoying problem.

I am 5'4" 150 pounds, and always a size 10. I bought a medium based on the size charts and it is perfect. The jacket has been warm to 20 degrees Michigan weather, with wind. I can layer over a blazer for work. The zipper is a bit of a problem, but I have that with most of my outwear that insist on using the double zipper. I love the sleek fit and thin material, perfect for long car rides. Lots of compliments too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mama123 Lots of compliments
Bought this jacket last fall. I receive lots of compliments on the fit. I have one from the year before that was too tight in the arm area, and made it hard to wear any layer underneath. The cut in the arm and shoulder on this jacket is perfect for me. And room for layers.
Oddly, there is no interior zippered pocket. I really miss it. Wish they would put that back. I haven't had any trouble at all with the zipper. I prefer the look of the zipper plus snaps over the buttons of the previous styling--one of the reasons I bought it.
I love it for the fall into winter of the Memphis area, but the cold rating is off. No way is it good to -15, layering or no. I would say mid to upper 20's depending on length of time outside. I switch coats for the barn chores to the longer version of this coat they made last year (it seems to have disappeared.) The longer coat is much warmer fabric than this style for some reason.
I bought the XL petite, as I am well endowed in the chest area since the birth of my son. This is one of the few jackets that will fasten in the front for me. I am 5'2".
This is my favorite coat, and I wear it all the time. It washes well too. I have several of the vests and coats in the quilted riding jacket/vest line--sort of buy one on sale most years since 2007. They have all held up well to outdoor life, horse slobber, hay, dirt, riding, and chores. The ability to open the jacket from the bottom or the top whether with buttons, snaps, or zippers, is one of the best features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Birder7 Not That Warm
I've worn this jacket two or three times, and it doesn't come close to being warm to -15. I wasn't warm enough at 40. But it looks really great on, and having been warned about the zipper, I had no trouble with it. The jacket is described as best with a midweight layer, but it's rather tight through the arms and shoulders, and it's more comfortable with just a turtleneck. I do a lot of birding, and I couldn't hold up a pair of binoculars comfortably while wearing a lightweight sweater under this coat. I'm 5'7", weigh 140, and generally wear a size M. I tried the L, and it was way too big. I'll have to content myself with looking good on the street and wear something else in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LegallySouthern exactly what I was looking for!
For reference - I usually wear between an Extra Small and Small (5'4", 150lb) in LLBean and I ordered the Small to make sure I'd have plenty of room for layers underneath. The size is great for me, it is roomy without feeling like it swallows me. I ordered the jacket in Tan/Khaki so that it would be more versatile and I am very pleased with the color as well as the corduroy accents on the sleeves and collar.
I received this jacket in the mail a week ago and I've worn it every single day. Being that annoying time of year when the temperature has literally gone from 50 degrees to 10 degrees in the span of a week, this jacket has kept me warm the entire time without making me overheated.
The weight of this jacket was exactly what I was looking for, it keeps me very warm while still being comfortable, compared with a heavy wool coat that makes me feel so stiff and restricted.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by PastaLover1513 Great Jacket!
This is a really stylish warm jacket that is not bulky and fits comfortably. The rating would've been 5 star, but the zipper is less than desirable. Change the zipper and this jacket is definitely a winner!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jardin Really nice but needed warmer/longer
I've been looking for the right quilted stable jacket like the ones I used to get in Italy- they were very simple, very lightweight, and very warm and portable, worked even over work suits or bulkier sweaters, easy to slide on or off, use as a pillow or lap blanket on the trains, always looked elegant...
I ordered this in 2 sizes based on the reviews: I am 5'5" @ 125 lbs, athletic build and the S was too big. The XS was pretty much the right size, so I returned the S.
(Even the XS is not a snug fit, so I'd say size down.)
I love the fabric, and the lining, and all the details. The lining is beautiful- soft and real and lovely subdued plaid; I loved the way the cuffs folded back to reveal it. It looks and feels like a really well-made jacket with the correct finitions.
I ordered it in black- I really hesitated because I really think the tan, the olive and the navy are equally beautiful, but for my wardrobe, a first one in black was going to be the most versatile so I went with that one. The lining is a foresty plaid, the piping corduroy- as I said, really nice.
It was a tiny bit shorter than I expected; it comes a fraction of an inch past my butt; I thought/hoped it would be longer.
I ordered it before the Fall snap came in to the air here in Japan, and was really looking forward to wearing it.
That Autumn crispness finally came, and I put this for the first time over a light sweater, jeans, and Uggs, and stepped out on the balcony.
It should have been perfect, but the jacket didn't add any warmth to me whatsoever. It wasn't even as if it were really cold out. I waited a while, thinking maybe I was just adjusting from being inside, but I didn't get any warmer. The Italian jackets I had were not lined and kept me warmer, so I didn't really understand.
I love the look of the jacket but I really needed it to be that lightweight layer of warmth for mid-season so unfortunately I'll be sending it back. I'm glad L.L Bean is so good about returns, and I am happy with almost everything I ever buy from them so I'd recommend this jacket none-the-less- it's great-looking and very well made- just wasn't exactly what I needed.
