I bought this king-size box-stitch down comforter a year ago right after Christmas to replace a worn 12 year old lighter weight down comforter. I put it inside a cotton duvet cover on the bed. In my home, I put my thermostat at 60 degrees, which means it's in the mid- to high-50's upstairs in the bedroom during the winter. During fall and spring, the comforter is warm with just a cotton blanket and sheet under it on the bed. During winter, I add another wool Hudson Bay blanket under the comforter (an old LLBean purchase). Formerly, I had to use two Hudson Bay blankets with the old lighter weight down comforter in the winter, but now just one. During the summer, while it's my bed cover, I just sleep on top of it most of the time since it gets between 80 and 100 degrees here in southern Illinois, and I don't air condition my house. The cats sleep on it. Over the last year, it seems to have maintained its loft pretty well, with a few shakes to fluff it. I'm happy with it.

I was on the great cream-colored down comforter search of 2015-2016 and this was my final try after trying and returning 6 other comforters. This was the best one I tried but not great. However, I decided to stick with it because it's really hard to find a cream-colored down comforter! This comforter is indeed crinkly and being a light sleeper, some nights this does bother me. The material feels starchy so I washed and dried it today with little success, and it actually now smells worse, like damp feathers, even though the comforter is thoroughly dry. As for weight, I was looking for something lightweight but I still find it to be a little too warm and doubt it will be an all-season comforter for us. I had high hopes for the LL Bean brand and was willing to pay a little more for quality. It does the job and I hope at least it turns out to be durable. Hopefully after some more use it will break in a little, as nothing beats a comfy down comforter!

I've waited a year to write this. I've tried to use this comforter so many times. But every time you change position in bed you'll be awakened by the crackling noise. Awful! The comforter weighs quite a bit too, so turning over isn't easy anyway. The cover material feels cheap and slinky. And if all that doesn't convince you to run the other way the terrible chemical smell will. Yes, I give up and am returning it at this point.

I selected this comforter after talking with a helpful online customer service rep. We live in northern, NJ, which doesn't get extremely cold, but wanted something that would allow us to keep our house on the cooler side during winter nights. If anything, the blanket is a little TOO warm - once you're in it, you warm up quickly and it keeps the heat in very well. However, since we want a down comforter, I'll take too warm over not warm enough! For the King size, it would be nice to have a way to attach it to the cover mid-way down the top and bottom along with the corners - the middle tends to fall away from the edge. However, this is easy to fix with a couple of shakes. We got a king for our queen bed and I'd recommend this, esp if the bed is occupied by more than one person - everyone is well-covered during the night! Also, it feels fluffy and cozy - create a very inviting place to just relax and unwind!

I love this comforter. Warm enough for well below freezing temperatures. Some previous reviews mentioned that this makes a crinkly noise, but I have not found this the case: it is the silent ninja of comforters. It does leave some feathers around occasionally, but it makes up for that in sheer toastiness.

I got this laundered and the solvent smell is gone. I am very happy with the comforter. It is warm, but not heavy and the size fits the bed well. I am very glad I bought it. I took away one star because of the inconvenience of the smell issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Paulshopper Strong Chemical Odor
I just received this item yesterday. It appears to be fine. A big positive is that it arrived in just a few days rather than the two weeks that the web site indicated. The strong negative is that I just dropped it off at my local cleaner. The comforter had a very strong chemical smell and I must get it cleaned before I can use it. So, I took away two stars.
Once I get it back, I'll revise my review after I have had a chance to use it. Hopefully the laundering will get the smell out.

I had a strange issue with this when I first got it - it was weirdly stiff and felt not heavy enough, not because of the feather weight, but because there was often an air gap above the comforter between the comforter and my body. I would wake up with cold feet, with the comforter not resting flat on my feet. Or if I was reading in bed and bent my knees, the comforter would not go back down when my legs were down. It was strange! An LLBean customer service rep assured me it would soften up, and it did. It is now perfect, but for a good month, I was thinking I would be using that lifetime guarantee and I would need to change to a different comforter! I don't know if this temporary issue was due to the feather type or the cotton containing the down. Now, several months into owning it, I love it. I covered it with a super soft LLBean flannel comforter cover, and I have never slept better. I have not had any shifting of feathers or leakage with this comforter after about 6 months. It is so warm and cozy in my bed, it is difficult to wake up in the morning. I have never been so happy with my bedding.

Highly recommend these comforters. We have two, twin size with cotton covers on them purchased elsewhere. Yes, the comforter does make a bit of a rustling noise when moved around, but it is certainly not offensive and no one is losing sleep over it. In fact I am able to sneak out from under the comforter while the kids sleep and they never wake. I purchased the cream color because plan to use covers and the drape is perfect on beds that are pushed against a wall. Just the right amount of warmth too.

I am not sure yet if I can keep this comforter. The weight is great, but the material makes noise whenever it moves. Crinkly, loud noise.
