Highly regarded for its superior craftsmanship and functionality, our most traditional luggage has been a customer favorite for more than 80 years. We took the extra weight out of our classic pullman and gave it a more sculpted shape, making it easier to handle. Improved two-piece frame system features thick foam padding and a molded resin base that's lighter and stronger than before. Deep packing area is more spacious, with cinch-down straps to keep items from shifting. Roomy front pockets won't take storage away from inside the bag. Smooth Glide wheels fit directly into the frame for added stability. Extra-long telescoping handle.

Built from tough 1,000-denier nylon, with strong lockstitched seams and durable leather accents and ID tag. All sizes include an identifying handle wrap. Medium expands to add 30% more capacity. Accessory Bag slips over Rolling Pullman handle for easy maneuvering through airport terminals. U-shaped opening for easy packing. Gusseted front pocket. Includes Comfort-Carry strap.

We keep several sets of different types for different modes of travel and trip purposes. These newest models have deleted many of the features which previously were so handy. I can't see the "fames"; but can see the stark, single-compartment interiors; and don't like them. Also, while on this topic; the corner reinforcements are not stout enough; we have some fairly new pieces with the wires exposed. Next type we will buy for foreign travel will have casters instead of wheels. Got on a Belgian "Arret-Partout" train last year with narrow isles; the bigger pieces wouldn't go "sideways", causing much difficulty. I, age 69, had to lift them over the seatbacks to get them to our train-car. LLBean is great; BUT, they need to look at this again. These newer pieces are worse. Rick May 26, 2013

The most recently added was the XL pullman, so I can't comment on its durability yet, but for a checked bag, I like its simple features and large inner compartment. It appears from the photos that the M carry-on has the features ours has--the two separate inner compartments that each have a mesh cover, and the zippered expandable feature. We like that design better than some other versions of the M case. The accessory bag holds more than it looks and makes a good overnight bag. We've had the M carry-on and accessory bag several years and they've held up well. At today's daily special price, this set is an excellent value. We have it in navy. March 26, 2013

Rated 1 out of 5�by CtAPRN Disappointed I have shopped at LL Bean for over 30 years with purchases ranging from furniture to clothes and have always been happy with the quality. I have been looking for a luggage set that can withstand the abuse of luggage handlers. This luggage received good reviews so I thought I would splurge and get a good-looking set that would last for at least a few years. Yesterday my Sportsman's luggage set arrived in the mail and I excitedly opened the box. As I unsnapped the handle on the tote of the three peiece set the snap pulled off of the leather. What a disappointment! This luggage didn't even make it to the airport. I am going to return the set and hope to find something more durable. January 23, 2013

About a third of the way through our trip, I promised myself that if we got home with everything still intact, I would write a favorable review. Well, we got home with everything still in great shape, and so I am writing about it. I believe we bounced these bags over every cobblestone ever made, pulled them up and down staircases, threw them by their handles onto and off trains and trams, over-stuffed them, and gave them other rugged abuse, and they took it all in stride. They still look great, and operate perfectly. July 14, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5�by MexicoTravelor Sportsman Luggage set When I needed to replace my luggage, I was torn between spending less money buying new luggage at a discount department store, or spending more at LL Bean. Ultimately, I decided to invest at LL Bean because of their outstanding customer service and product guarantee. Once my decision to go with Bean, I researched the various sets, and decided that the Sportsman set best met my needs. I was surprised at the size of the small tote. It was much larger than I anticipated. The carryon bag is great, and it's perfect for weekend getaways. The large bag has tons of room. I think the only thing I would have liked the large bag to have would be interior pockets, and the zip liner would be nice too. I had plenty of room when we went on a 2+ week vacation to Mexico. The navy color and leather trim was very easy to spot on the luggage carousel among all the black bags. The large bag is very easy to handle and we had no problems stowing the carry-on bag in the overhead compartment. All in all, I am very satisfied with the set, and hope to use it for many years o come! June 18, 2012

The durability of this luggage is also great it is very sturdy. I have bought other brands of luggage before always with the promise that it would last and we were lucky if it lasted one trip through the airport. I am going to add more piece of this set to my collection. October 8, 2011
