Rated 5 out of 5 by DrBillyD Excellent jacket
Used this jacket recently on a spring sailing trip in the San Juans (WA), where temps were in the 40's at times and, being the Pacific NW in spring, there was rain. Definitely kept out rain and allowed me to be on deck. Sleeve/cuff design is fantastic--waterproof and allows full range of motion. External shell is thick and excellent windbreak. Appreciate the Scotchlite reflective piping. Since it's for fishing, I get the dark color (green/black#; would be perfect for sailing/kayaking if it were offered in brighter color choice#s). I do expect to use it for flyfishing in the near future.
About the only possible negative comment I could make is that the one zippered internal pocket is kind of small. Personally, I would have liked a larger, elastic mesh type internal pocket but this is obviously an idiosyncratic preference.
On sale this is a good price for a goretex jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GermanShorthairLover Best I've owned!
This is by far the best rain jacket that I have owned.
Waterproof, windproof, and great details such as a hood that moves with your head movement and stays put.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fishinlaw Big Water Rain Bibs and Big Water Rain Jacket
These are the best rain pants and jacket I have ever used. Whether boating, fishing, hunting or working outdoors, they will keep you dry and comfortable, even in heavy rain. There are many pockets and D-rings for all the items you want to access. The bibs have full zippered legs with gaiters with lace hooks to prevent water from entering your boots or shoes. Tighten the Velcro inner sleeve on the jacket and your arms and shirt sleeves will stay dry. Sit down and the gaiters will keep your feet and legs dry even if the pant legs ride up a little. Stretch your arms out or lift them up and the inner sleeve will keep your arms and shirt dry. Nothing else I have owned comes close to these in comfort or protection from the elements. Very highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HootinNaka Bombproof Tourney Raingear!
I already own the matching Big Water bibs and did not want to miss out on buying the Big Water jacket while they were still in stock and on sale. L.L. Bean's Tall sizes are a must for me and they never disappoint! This item is not intended for an occasional light sprinkle. It is a hardcore, technically designed piece of raingear. It is not a lightweight summer type of rain jacket. I probably would not expect to be comfortable in temperatures too much higher 75 degrees without a steady breeze or cooling rain. The zippers appear to be waterproof and the exterior pockets and D-rings are well placed. There is one interior pocket (6"x7") that also has the Gore-Tex label on it. (I mention this only because like L.L. Bean, Gore-Tex also stands behind their products in case of an issue down the road...something several of my bass tournament angling pals have had to learn the hard way when their "in-house" brand gore-tex raingear let them down...the company whose name was so prominently displayed all over the jacket and/or bibs informed them that there was nothing they could do)
I am a 2nd generation, lifelong L.L. Bean customer and will continue to spend my money with them as long as they continue to offer great products and the best warranty in the industry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by lippp wind and rain
I used this rainsuit when fishing in early April in the heavy rain and wind at 36 degrees wind chills in the 20's. No where to walk to get warm this rain gear is nothing but the best. It keep me dry and warm. Great pocket design with all the zippers to make your taking on and off with ease. Worth every penny. Thanks Paul

Rated 5 out of 5 by WIForester great in winter too!
It is still winter so I haven't been able to try this jacket in the rain, but I wore it ice fishing instead. Excellent protection against the elements; plenty of room for layers. Can't wait for the fishing trip to Canada.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeanTrueBeliver Batten down Hatches
I got a good price on this at $00.00. I was able to use my 2010 Holiday coupons to buy it. I am using the nautical expression of batten down the hatches when heavy seas and rain are occuring. This jacket can be almost impervious to water seeping in when you have batten down its hatch features. However, even in spring rains this jacket should keep you dry. If it is a little cold then wear something underneath it. At about 85 degrees I am unsure just how breathable this coat will be.
