Rated 4 out of 5 by clutch 8 1/2 sizing seems close to me
After reading some other reviews here, I made the mistake of ordering a half size larger (9) than my usual 8 1/2 (42 Eur) that I have been wearing for years. The boots were just that half size too wide and too long. An 8 1/2 would have been much better, although I'm not sure I would have liked the feel even with an 8 1/2. The 9 seemed quite high in the forefoot, and it was impossible to tighten them with the laces enough to get a good fit.
Merrel and Salomon boots usually fit me very well, just as a reference.
The boots seem pretty well made for the sale price especially, but stiff.They would need break-in for sure.

Good quality Hikers, but size does not match the table of Footwear Size Equivalents.
My Footwear size is European 42, but that 8½ from the table of Footwear Size Equivalents was too small and narrow, so I need at least one size larger.
Would like to exchange.

I love these boots! When they first arrived I wasn't too certain about the size. I broke them in and finally decided I needed to exchange them for 1/2 size larger. Customer Service was exceedingly understanding and helpful.
The sizing of the boots is a tad small for me, but once I had the right size the fit is wonderful. I haven't "tested" the waterproof feature of them yet, but will attest that they are quite comfortable and hold up under the weight of a full day pack. The only thing I can think of as a negative is that they weigh a bit more than I was expecting.
Great product! Great Customer Service! Great Company! Overall, these are awesome hiking boots that I can recommend without hesitation.

Perfect fit right out of the box. Very comfortable, bit on generous size. Room for thick socks or double socks for Alberta winter.

I'm very happy with these boots. After buying them, they were stiff for about 5 days, but broken in at a week. They fit right, I'm a standard size 10 w/ normal width feet. Hiked about seven miles in March in New York state, so water, snow, ice, mud, frozen terrain...and they were great every step. Totally waterproof, and great traction. The extra eyelet on near the ankle is optional and for ankle stability on difficult hikes. Unlike a previous reviewer, this loop has caused me no problems, you can easily not use it when wearing the boots on easy terrain.
I'd buy the boots again.

I bought a pair of these three or four years ago and I've worn them for numerous weekend camps, hikes, yard work, etc. As I recall, they required very little break-in and they are quite comfortable. I think I bought my usual size but I'm not positive. They have been incredibly waterproof until the last six months, when I've started to get a little bit of water near the sole. It turns out that the upper is starting to separate just a bit from the sole. Although I've never worn them on hikes longer than five miles, I've put a lot of wear on them. I could probably still return them but I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. At this price point, I may replace them.

I ordered a size 10 but found them a bit large so returned them and received a size 9 1/2 which fit perfectly. Was very happy with LL Bean staff re: the return and reorder. I have worn the hikers a few times in wet snow and found them to be dry, very comfortable and feel very secure wearing them. Am anxious to do some serious hiking in the Rocky Mountains in the near future.

I wore the boots on a 5 mile hike and found them painful to wear, I had to loosen the right boot due to pressure pain on ankle. bottom of left foot was hurting as well by end of hike. I will be returning to boots.

I recently bought these boots because i own two other pairs of
Bean boots am very satisfied. Unfortunately, I am not quite
as happy with these because the sizing was inaccurate.
Every other pair of boots I have purchased from Bean have fit
perfectly. I have a worn a EE my entire adult life and it is always
the right size.Therefore, I do not think this is a case of me buying the wrong size. This issue is very disappointing for me because I don't have a lot of options. Bean, and no one else for that matter,
sells a EEE. If you have wide feet, you either buy a 2E or a 4E. 4E''s have always been too big. It's a shame because they seem like fairly sturdy boots but this issue is a dealbreaker for me.
