I'm a 40R and have been my whole adult life. The 40 in this blazer was large, particularly in the shoulders. I'm a 33 shirt sleeve and the sleeves were a couple inches or so long.
The cut of the jacket is very unflattering... baggy with no waist as with most modern blazers.
The number and sizes of the pockets were great, however. If only the fit were better, this would be a great travel blazer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DogFox Sizing is Huge.
Recommended to friend only providing that purchaser contact customer service specialist for realistic sizing advice, based on one's specific measurements.
Rating is degraded only because of huge fit relative to normal LLBean measuring directions and my size history of ordering from LLB. Size 48 Regular was based on chest measurement over T-shirt, per sizing instructions. Item received, labeled same, was an inch too wide, bilaterally, in shoulders, much too large in chest, with sleeves more than ~5 inches too long. Body Length extended to curled first joint of fingers with arms at side.
Too bad I have to deal with sending this item back but with hope of achieving a fit on reorder that works.
Rating othewise: 5 Star. Material is nice, hard-finish wool, likely to wear well with little wrinkling during travel.

I read all the reviews on this jacket and the too long sleeves were commented upon several times. I went ahead and ordered it thinking that shortening them wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, the jacket was too large in the shoulders and almost too small in the stomach area so a smaller size wouldn't do. What finally made us decide to return it was the fabric--slick, slippery like plastic and it looked slick, too.

Disappointed with the fit of this. Not only are the sleeves way too long, as many other reviewers have noted (I'm a 42 regular, and sleeves came halfway down my palm), but the shoulders are too big as well. I looked like a little boy playing dress up in his father's jacket! Fortunately, they have an easy return policy. However, I will not be reordering a jacket through mail order, as I pretty clearly need to try on the garment to check the fit! Lesson learned.

After reading reviews that commented on how long the blazer ran, I ordered a 38 short; I usually wear a 38 R. It fits perfectly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by oldgeekguy Nice jacket, but...
...everyone who complained about the sleeve length was right. Fortunately, I have an awesome alterations shop up the street that did a fantastic job correcting the problem.
For anyone who travels, the assortment of interior pockets is a godsend. I fully expect to wear the dickens of this garment.
Would've given it a 5 star rating, minus the sleeve length issue.

Bought the blazer with the intend of using it for travel. I ordered a 44 short but the sleeves were well over my palms. They were incredibly long. I've never had a blazer regardless of brand that never fit me. This is was a disappointment. Had to return it. Thanks to the hassle free return policy, LL Bean gladly too it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by McCarthyForesterOttawa Nice blazer as described
This a convenient blazer I wear to work and will pack for a cruise trip this winter. FYI, at 5'11", the regular size 42 sleeves fit me fine. Tall would be too long. The interior cell phone pocket really should be re-designed to fit an iPhone or Blackberry.

I've had this a charcoal grey and dark khaki version of this for nearly a year now, and I'm very pleased with these products. I'm at the edge of the sizes(52/Tall) and really appreciate being able to have something that fits and works as well as these.
These breathe well, and don't bind. The large number of pockets on the inside are useful for keeping boarding passes, paperbacks, phones, pens, etc. in separate spots while negotiating the TSA landscape. Paired with the wool pants, this looks very sharp, and works very well.
I probably wear these once every two weeks to work, and they're still looking new.
Very satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SanDiegoCustomer Sleeves too long
I have been a repeat LL Bean customer for about 30 years. I have enjoyed LL Bean shirts, sweaters, turtlenecks, overcoats, shoes, etc. and always found them to be well made and a good value, but I am returning this blazer. The travel blazer is simply cut wrong in the sleeve, as others have pointed out. It is a perfect fit across the chest and the right coat length, but at least 1 inch too long in the sleeves. I have worn a 40R for a couple decades, including suit and sport coats from every maker I have tried. The sleeves of this blazer are 1 to 1-1/4 inches longer than any (off the rack) 40R in my closet. LL Bean dress and sport shirts are a perfect fit for me, so it is hard to see this blazer as anything other than factory error.
