Rated 5 out of 5áby A11AS Over a year in and no regrets. One fantastic coat.
This coat has been my favorite since I bought it. I use it all pheasant season and I wear it whenever it's cold enough to. The material can survive pushing through briars weekend after weekend and I have yet to have a problem with it. In fact, the longer I wear it, the better it looks. It may seem like a lot to spend on a coat, but believe me it'll be well spent because the thing just doesn't give up. The stitching is well done, even on the buttons (which may look a little cheesy in the photos, but they are beefy, durable and look pretty good), and it'll take whatever beating you give it. The pheasant pocket is huge (it travels from the front all the way around to your back), and it's easy to wash out if you need to after a hunt (if you don't hunt, its also great for carrying large amounts of small things like cameras, ipods, wallets, really anything you can fit through the hole. You get the idea.) There also a CRAZY amount of pockets. I was still finding some for weeks after I bought it. Upwards of 10 pockets. However, none of them get in your way or are obnoxious. Also, for you shotgun users, the shell webbing inside the two front pockets fits 20 GA. shells very nicely, but 12 GA. shells are a tight fit. It takes a little more effort than I'd like, but if it wasn't tight on the 12's, then the 20's would just bounce out. I like to load my 6's in one pocket and the 7 1/2s in the other. Anyways, back on topic for the general audience. Keep in mind this is a waxed cotton jacket, and you will have to rewax it down the road. With that in mind. I think I'll wrap it up with saying that this coat is a hands down great buy, and if given the choice to buy it again, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment.
Also, I got the one W/O the blaze orange. Don't know why that'd be relevant, just thought I'd mention.

áby truck6guy true llbean quality
How can you go wrong with llbean? I don't think you can. If it don't fit or you don't like it, send it back-no questions asked. Well, I won't be sending this coat back. Awesome quality, and true to size fit. Zippered pockets behind front hand warmer pockets are my favorite feature. I always wanted a waxed cotton jacket for bird hunting/dog training. I'm pretty sure they will bury me before this jacket. 52 yr old with 25 years of chasing birds, and hopefully 20 more in this fine jacket. I am 5'10" and weigh 180, the large fits great with a hoody underneath.

While I live in Hawaii I need a jacket for when I visit my daughter in Washington State and since I plan to retire there in another year I needed something that would stand up to abuse in the field and still be able to be worn shopping. I have just spend the last two weeks in the North West and tempetures ranged from 30 to 50 degrees and this jacket kept me warm. On the warmer days I worn a t-shirt under the jacket and was still warm and the wind didn't penetrate the jacket. It didn't rain much but the slight drizzle stayed on the outside and I was bone dry. I did buy the jacket a little large so I could layer clothes under it. I really like this jacket.

Have been looking at the Bean Field Jacket for a long time. Bought this as a retirement present for myself. Excellent fit, appears very durable, lots of pockets, can layer under it, and allows good movement. I have been shopping at Bean's since 1965. Great place to shop both online and at Freeport.
Wish you had more US made products.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Grettasmom GREAT HUNTING COAT !
SURPRISED MY HUSBAND WITH THIS COAT AND HE LOVES IT. HE NEEDED A COAT THAT GOES THROUGH THICK UNDERBRUSH AND BURDOCKS. UNSCATHED. THE BLAZE ORANGE COLOR IS EXACTLY WHERE HE WANTED IT AND THE PERFECT BALANCE OF ORANGE VERSUS BROWN. HE DOESNT CARE THAT ITS A BUTTON-UP OR THAT ITS ONLY LIGHTLY INSULATED. HE'S A HUNTER THAT WALKS AROUND NOT A STAND IN A TREESTAND KINDA GUY AND HE COULDNT BE HAPPIER WITH HIS NEW COAT :)

Rated 5 out of 5áby hadtopostareview Great Multi-Purpose Coat
This coat performed really well in 20 degree windy weather. With a light fleece layer underneath I had no trouble sitting still staying warm for a couple of hours in strong wind. When hiking around at 30 degrees I had to take layers off because I got too warm.
The fabric is not "breathable" so be prepared to take off layers if you get too hot.
I was so happy with this coat it inspired this first ever review.
The coat is also very functional. The pockets are great with the right types of closures and sizes for various purposes. Shell pockets are also big enough for small binoculars or tools.
This coat will also be great not just for hunting but also doing chores through the winter and walking the dog. Also looks good enough to wear into the office.
