This is a great coat. I purchased a similar one 10+ years ago and loved it. I didn't store it correctly and had an issue with mold so I needed a new one. I like the changes with the pockets. The only issue I have is that the sleeves seem a little tight as they are lined. Once the coat is on it's great but getting it on and off over a loose shirt is a little difficult.

Going from Arizona to Maine is a 180 degree change. Today's Arizona temperature was 97F and the high for our final Maine destination was 42F. The choice of the Upland hunter field coat was " best' option". As important , the high level of service is what makes L.L. Bean an a outstanding company .

Husband said "I just wish that it had a zipper instead of buttons."
Someone changed the design ?
I am a woman and I bought this many years ago and it has a zipper and snaps.
Still using it daily in 2015.
Kids can't believe it! lol
Go back to your old design please

Got myself a Christmas present.. Love the way it looks and feels. With a fleece jacket under it, it is great for the cold Georgia hunts and hikes (understand that temperature can be relative).. Great pockets and lots of room to store things.

Perfect coat for some of my walk-in duck spots. with a little layering you can make this coat fit any condition. The shell loops in the pockets are a little big but that's the only problem I've found. Can't wait to see how many years of use I get out of this coat. So far it seems it will last a lifetime.

I absolutely love this jacket. My wife got this for me last year for Christmas and I finally got a chance to use it. I hunt in Northern WV AND Southwestern PA where the weather is snowy, rainy, and sunny all in the same day. This jacket keeps me dry, warm, and is very comfortable. I like that I can button and unbutton the coat with gloves on. It has plenty of room for shells, water, crackers and anything else I need. I don't normally write reviews but if you are looking for a great hunting coat LLBean has the history and the knowledge to make the best. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This jacket, which took my awesome customer service rep, James, a few minutes to find, is everything it promises to be. Being an artist pockets are very important for all the stuff I tend to pack around with me, and this jacket has 11! And counting!
The waxed cotton cost a little more, but it proved its worth the first night I had it when I wore it in the rain for a couple hours. The water beaded right off and I stayed bone dry! Excellent fit and durable construction tells me I will be wearing this jacket, in style, for years to come. Great buy! James deserves a raise, good work James!

Bought for hunting but comfort great fit and style make it impossible not to wear more often. Roomy practical and reasonably priced jacket in the solid brown make it a must havr

Rated 5 out of 5 by A11AS Over a year in and no regrets. One fantastic coat.
This coat has been my favorite since I bought it. I use it all pheasant season and I wear it whenever it's cold enough to. The material can survive pushing through briars weekend after weekend and I have yet to have a problem with it. In fact, the longer I wear it, the better it looks. It may seem like a lot to spend on a coat, but believe me it'll be well spent because the thing just doesn't give up. The stitching is well done, even on the buttons (which may look a little cheesy in the photos, but they are beefy, durable and look pretty good), and it'll take whatever beating you give it. The pheasant pocket is huge (it travels from the front all the way around to your back), and it's easy to wash out if you need to after a hunt (if you don't hunt, its also great for carrying large amounts of small things like cameras, ipods, wallets, really anything you can fit through the hole. You get the idea.) There also a CRAZY amount of pockets. I was still finding some for weeks after I bought it. Upwards of 10 pockets. However, none of them get in your way or are obnoxious. Also, for you shotgun users, the shell webbing inside the two front pockets fits 20 GA. shells very nicely, but 12 GA. shells are a tight fit. It takes a little more effort than I'd like, but if it wasn't tight on the 12's, then the 20's would just bounce out. I like to load my 6's in one pocket and the 7 1/2s in the other. Anyways, back on topic for the general audience. Keep in mind this is a waxed cotton jacket, and you will have to rewax it down the road. With that in mind. I think I'll wrap it up with saying that this coat is a hands down great buy, and if given the choice to buy it again, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment.
Also, I got the one W/O the blaze orange. Don't know why that'd be relevant, just thought I'd mention.
