Looks to be well made, size was accurate. For me the sleeves were barley long enough, I usually take a tall, the smallest tall was a large. so I had to go with the medium. I wear layers and this will accommodate a fleece vest or similar garment. Overall I'm happy with it.

Just received this coat, so have not had the opportunity to wear it yet, but I am confident this is everything I was looking for in a hunting/cabin/casual coat. Well made, good fit, lots of pockets. Could not be happier with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Oystercatcher Will be a great birding (watching) coat
I am a woman, but I didn't like the women's waxed coat since it didn't have a two way zipper and the reviews were mixed.
I usually take a women's Large in Bean jackets, and I sent for a Medium in the man's coat.
The buttons are great and make for more comfortable driving than would a one-way zipper. It gives more when you sit down.
Construction is wonderful and it's really easy to swing your arms around, great allowance for movement.
Loads of pockets...I'll use the game pocket in front for maps. The hand warmer pockets are in the right place.
I do agree with the reviewer who complained about the roughish lining especially in the arms...it may be hard to put the coat on over a rough layer like fleece. But a smooth shirt is fine. That's my only complaint and it's not a big deal for me.
Looks much classier with more nice detail than the other more expensive waxed coats I've seen. I like the quilted yoke.
Can't wait till it gets cold and drizzly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by HenryMudd Best Photography Coat Ever
I have been lookng a long time for a coat to replace my very old winter coat. I need one with lots of pockets and the bigger the better. I read the review of this coat "Best Dad Coat Ever" and thought this sounded like a great option. I have only worn the coat twice, but I LOVE IT! There is plent of pocket room to carry photography gear and keep it safe. I was on the border between sizes and ordered the larger size. I am glad I did as that allows me room to expand when I fill the pockets up.
I accidentally ordered the Waxed Cotton, rather than the unwaxed. I am concerned that the wax will rub off onto my equipment. But since I know LLBean is great about returns, I think I will keep this for a bit and see how it works out.
Partly because it is the waxed version, this coat is somewhat heavy. The coat doesn't come with a ton of insulation, which for me is fine, I tend to layer and this is an outstanding outer layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mohammed Great jacket
This jacket is great and would have it for years to come. It fits true. I am usually very picky regarding quality and this jacket don't lack that. I think a strong metal zipper would be an icing on the cake.

Rated 2 out of 5 by NOGOJACKET good jacket except
Its a nice well made jacket.... But in one fell swoop Bean ruined it. The lining is like sticking ones hand into a thorn bush. Part of the lining is nylon the whole lining should be nylon.. Or nylon and cotton. Not that horrible rough skin pulling brushed polyester...After trying it on for a few months and staring at in in the closet I returned it. I was never going to ware it due to the miserable lining... Brushed polyester is the cheapest most miserable fabric. One would think with the high cost of LLBEAN products they would value the customer a lot more and not use junk fabric like the brushed polyester...The worst was it was also in the pockets .. Want to walk for miles in the bush with your hands in a thorn bush get this jacket... At least put in a cotton and nylon lining...Sorry I was so tough but someone has to say the truth...

I haven't had a chance to use this jacket in the field yet but really like the layout and initial quality. Great fit, true to size. For the quality and design I think this jacket is a real value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Best Dad Coat Ever!
If you have kids or are planning on having kids soon, this review is for you. I am a father of two small children, but I really do not like carrying a diaper bag or having my hands full with kids? stuff. Herein lies the genius of the shooting coat turned into the Dad coat. I wore my last shooting coat to playground outings because it was the right weight for fall, but I soon found out that I could get a packet of wipes, a few diapers, a portable changing pad, assorted snacks and other sundry items into the coat?s large billow pockets designed to hold a full box of shells, yet no one was the wiser looking at me at the playground. This kept my hands free and me more mobile than a bag-toting man, which freed me up for a variety of Dad-related things, such as playing with my kids. Then I realized what I needed was a full on upland hunting coat with a front loading game pocket for all that extra stuff kids are always giving you to ?hold?. It adds up: a sippy cup here, a milk bottle there, a hat when your kid get hot from playing, a toy or two, not to mention your own coffee cup (if you are smart).
So, the ?kids? bought me this L.L. Bean coat at my request in the solid brown color. On the coat?s first outing, we all went to a lantern parade where the kids had their own handmade lanterns from milk jugs. After the parade part was over and it was time for playing with the other kids, the boys gave my wife their lanterns to hold. I took those lanterns and put them into the front loading game pocket with no problem. They just disappeared and were saved for later retrieval, but I wasn?t left ?holding the bag? so to speak. I was also able to carry our stainless steel coffee cups, diapers, wipes and changing pad, not to mention my own personal effects. The small zipper pockets are great for my wallet and keys, while the inside pocket keeps my phone safe. Plus, there are two sets of lined hand-warming pockets always available for my use even with a ton of stuff in the coat. The coat is comfortable, easy to clean, rugged and looks great. The best part is you can basically put whatever you need to in the game pocket. Because the pocket is designed to carry dead, bloody birds, you can easily clean it out after you put something dirty inside or something leaks (like that sippy cup). The whole time, you have both hands free and the coat basically looks and feels the same as if it were empty, yet it is surprisingly easy to ?magically? retrieve individual items as requested or needed. If you are a mother reading this, get this coat for Dad and tell him how to use it. He will thank you! If you are a Dad reading this, get this coat for yourself and employ it in the way described. L.L. Bean should be marketing the coat as a dual purpose hunting/Dad coat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NJHunter1234 Sizing Off
I have been wearing LLBean XXL Tall clothing for years and the fit is perfect for me. So when I was looking for a new jacket I ordered the Upland Hunter Field Coat in XXL Tall. It definitely runs on the small size, I would say the XXL fit more like an XL so I sent it back.
