Rated 1 out of 5 by OldieMoldy Looks good, but......
I had intended to use this jacket as the insulation layer, over my street clothes and under my shell parka. I normally use a fleece sweater as insulation. The fleece works but I thought that I'd try this jacket. On my usual walk in the woods I was warm enough but not hot, for about two miles and then I realized my t-shirt and shirt were wet with what was normal water vapor that had been trapped. Good thing I had along in my pack a fleece vest, not as warm as my normal fleece sweater but as I was now getting cold, better than a poke in the eye.
By the time I finished the walk the vest had allowed enough vapor to pass to where I was nearly dry plus it had kept me warm enough to be comfortable.
What's going on? I surely don't know, but it was just about like wearing a really water-proof rain coat, or maybe a big plastic garbage bag.
Sorry but I'm going to return it. Now, your mileage may vary, but my best advice is to test it out really well. It wouldn't have funny if my first use was on a three day camping trip and I needed it to keep warm.

Bought this for fall / winter steelhead fishing around the upper Great Lakes. I wear it inside breathable waders, under a rain coat. Light, flexible, and warm. Excellent layer. Unlike others, I do not need a waist cinch or drawstring as the outer garments provide the seal. Note the body has more PrimaLoft (100 versus 60 gram weight) than Bean's similar "packaway" PrimaLoft jacket, but same amount in sleeves. An advantage for hard use in cold weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RochesterBikeRider Ok fit...good feel
I am 6 foot and 215 lbs and this jacket in XL fits okay in the shoulders and sleeves but it is a bit large in the waist and wrist bands and as others have said it really needs a heavy duty draw string around the waist. Also, this jacket is fairly light weight and does not compress as well as my other brand. I need to test it for its warmth during our Rochester winter but I am pretty sure it will be a good layer under my shell. PS. My wife wishes there were other colors, but I am good with the green/gray.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChristopherABear Lots to like, with one flaw...
This jacket is mostly a winner, but it really, really, really needs at draw cord at the waist to make it tops. PLEASE designers, add that draw cord and there will be nothing wrong with this jacket.

Excellent piece of equipment. Slightly more Primaloft than the one I already have from Bean's. Extremely packable & versative-either alone or to amplify warmth of another garmet in extreme cold. Could benefit from hem or waist cinch-but that's a minor point. Plan to use it on summer trips in the Adirondacks, but major test will be on my annual mid November trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SilentDog Great performer, needs to solid green color
Brought this for hunting in the Adirondacks. Features I especially like: Very light weight & packable, even into a fanny pack, allowing easy donning/doffing, depending on exertion level, to control sweating. Deceptively warm, given the lack of bulk. Wearing a base layer, wool shirt & pants plus this jacket allowed me to sit comfortably for 1-2 hours minimum in 30 degree temps. Add a Goretex shell and you get close to single digits in temps. I also use this casually but I find it a little warm for a heated car on extended trips. Two needs: 1) Color should be solid green for a hunting outer garment - lose the blue fabric (OK for casual use but not in the field). 2) Prefer a double zipper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by taxedenuff good looking jacket
My husband likes this jacket for going places where he has to drive, and be indoors as it is lightweight
& not at all bulky though warm enough for our MN arctic tundra.
At an XL size, he says he cannot wear a bulky shirt beneath as the chest is snug. Arms are good length for his ape arms.
It will be good for traveling as it fits into its own pocket & can be used as a pillow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigDenGuy Amazingly warm
I live in a suburb of Chicago and we have been in the teens temperature wise and all kinds of snow lately. I wear this jacket all the time outside and it amazes me how warm it is. I can't believe something so light can be so warm. You can't go wrong with this jacket.
