Rated 4 out of 5 by WardingOffWinter Not much support or cushioning
I have wide toes and bunions, but narrow heels and ankles. I first ordered wide, but couldn't get the ankle to lace up tight enough. I then ordered medium, which was still quite wide! There's not much arch support or cushioning. However, they are lightweight, breathable, and provide more ankle support than walking shoes. So, a decent compromise between "real" hiking boots and just walking shoes. I wish they'd up the support and cushioning while keeping the weight light and the fabric breathable! In the meantime, you might want to add an orthotic, since they run a little long and very wide.

These boots felt great from the second I put them on. I have foot problems so have trouble finding correct with. I ordered them one half size bigger to accommodate winter socks. They are roomy in the foot box, light, and yet very supportive. They are everything as advertised. I was so happy after wearing them for a couple of days that I ordered another pair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by NancyLJ Nice boots but not for me compared to Cresta
I bought these wanting a supportive walking shoe lighter than my beloved Cresta boots. I was told the sizes ran about the same. They just never felt right. Felt too big for me and not supportive so I returned them before I put any wear on them.
I think they are very nice boots at a good price point but I don't think the size is equivalent to the Crestas. My Cresta boots seem equal in size to my New Balance shoes on the AL-2 last though if that helps anyone. In all fairness, any two NB shoes in my size may not fit the same! I always make sure I am using the same shoe last!

I loved that everyone said the toe area is roomy - a typical problem for me. That part was true. The fit was true to size. (I wear a 7.5M.) The problem for me was the "collar" that wraps around the back of the leg. I tried several different socks, but it still felt like a thick band of pain. Also, the color of the mesh is light green when I expected blue from the picture. Back in the mail. :(

I ordered these boots on sale for my daughter, who is 12 and still growing. She said they felt "fine" when she tried them on so off we went on a hiking vacation with them (and fortunately, my boots). Well, after half a day in them she said they felt awful and she was having other foot problems too, so we traded boots. I thought they were so awful (no ankle support, too big toe box, slippage in the heel, no arch support) that I opted to wear my Merrell Siren Sports which are shoes, not boots so that my daughter could wear my hiking boots (we wore the same size at the time, now she's bigger). Mine are also LL Bean boots, but have been discontinued. I returned these -- they aren't worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by suzer great fit for my claustrophobic toes!
At last, boots with wiggle room for my toes. I have a slightly wide foot, ordered a wide and half a size smaller than usual. Lots of room in the toebox. Good ankle support, too. Great lightweight boot that's comfy right out of the box.

I can't say enough about this boot. I had exchanged the women's trail model hiker boot for this Pathfinder boot and am so glad I did. After confering with a sales representative on-line, I ordered my normal size 8 as well as LLBean middle weight sock...I was worried because the trail moder hiker boot was snug and heavy with the size 8. However, the sales rep on "chat" told me that I should be fine with my regular size in this boot. She was right! It has a wonderful roomy toebox and was comfortable to walk in with my first trial! No need to break these boots in. However, I will know more as we go on our vacation to Wyoming but I am so thrilled with the comfort of this boot that I know I won't miss the "waterproof" value of the other. These boots, at least for me, are true to size, comfortable, and offer nice support to the ankle. Great boot, LLBean...I can't tell you how many boots I have tried to find this fit! Thank you.

I am 63 and semi-active, but have weak ankles, a bunion and occasional Morton's Neuroma, a bad and sometimes dangerous combination. I usually wear LLBean Vacation Land Mary Janes for "dress", LLBean Comfort Mocs for stability, and TEVA sandals for summer outdoors near water. Tried these Pathfinder mid-hikers around the woods and they were comfortable on my feet, giving my bunion no pain whatsoever.
Yesterday I did the real test, hiking down and back up steep old logging slash areas, the ground covered with years of tangled fallen branches. Then down, and back up shale areas. I climbed around rocky areas, slid down grassy slopes, all a thorough test for a person my age, health and abilities.
While I will never be a 20-year old mountain goat climber or hiker, for my purposes this hiker was perfect. After 8 hours on my feet, I had NO PAIN, NO DISCOMFORT whatsoever. My husband almost cried with joy to know what he had suggested to me actually worked so well. Now I have ordered a pair of the low cut Pathfinders and hope they work just as well. I highly recommend the Pathfinders as lightweight, comfortable boots to help you get back out there, or just enjoy yourself a little more. PS: They look a big and cloddish until you put on jeans, and all of a sudden, they look cute and petite.

I tried these out with a dog walk this morning, and they're de-lightful: comfortable, lightweight, and durable looking. It is possible that they run a little large, but my normal size (5.5) isn't an option and the 6 works fine with lots of toe room. I highly recommend these!

I wore these for an hour and could feel too much movement in the boots. Sure enough, despite heavy socks, I developed some tiny blisters along the inside of my heel where the insole ends. I do have a narrow foot, so I added a sheepskin insole and they fit better. They also seem a half size short. I have to tie the laces tight to compensate for the width. Why can't they make all athletic boots/shoes in a narrow width? I'm tired of having to jerry-rig shoes to fit me properly. These are not for serious hiking...not enough arch support.
