So far I really like it, smooth and I can cast it a mile. Responsive, doesn't kink. However right about at the sweet spot (that is, the typical casted distance where you start to retrieve your line) I must have stepped on it on a rock and pitted the line, there's a divot and almost a hole. I can't be sure what happened, I just know it is there. However, I had my prior line for 7 years (Sci Anglers Mastery) and it had no significant divots in it - and I don't take care of my line all that well. I had this one two weeks. So my suggestion is the coating may be softer than the textured lines, hence 4 stars. But this also could be my fault entirely, I just have to believe that somehow there was either a weak spot or it is more prone to damage. So if you are a brute - maybe look for a tougher line coating? Anyhow, it's kind of ruined since its WF I can't flip it, so I am pretty bummed. But can't blame the line, only myself.

Casting line has never been an issue on steelhead streams in PA. Everything is a short cast. So I usually don't worry about good quality fly line. However I started going to some lakes and bigger streams and found it harder to get the fly where I wanted it. So I decided to purchase Rio Gold line this time and I am very pleased with the performance. I would highly recommend this line.

Smooth to cast and gives you the ability to truly feel your rod load. This is definitely a multipurpose fly line!
