this is my first kayak and is wonderful - am in my sixities so love being modular as is so easy to carry especially as our river requires portaging - works great on lake - everything about it is great and gets a lot of attention - only 10 seconds to put together - easy to manuver. could not be happier.

After reading all the reviews I knew what to expect. I love the take apart option. Two of the three parts fit in the backseat of my Honda civic easily. I haven't yet tried to fit the tandem middle section as we have a truck that fits all three parts. I can transport each part separately by myself without my husband. Four different couples used it and had no problem putting together and taking it apart. It works great for casual fun. There was not a problem with a weight difference of a 150 pounds between passengers in the kayak.
Downside; it does not track very well, it is a bit clumsy to carry the pieces alone, and it's very low in the water so you are wet from the seat down.

Got this kayak for Father's Day. Tried it out and was disappointed.
1. Does not have handle to carry to water after assembly. Sections also awkward to carry without handles. Can drag it but do not want to do that.
2. No padded seat. Was wearing quick dry? shorts and kept slipping on the seat.
3. Seemed low in the water and with any chop or wave would seem to get water in the kayak. I was on flat water and if I leaned sideways I was only about 2" from the water.
4. Because of the short length, had hard time keeping on track.
May be ok for the right person but not for me. I will be returning to store.

Rated 4 out of 5 Comfortable, Easy, and NOT Waterproof
We got this on sale after wanting one for a couple of years. Everything is as advertised. It is comfy, big enough in the water (I am 6'2", 210 lbs., she is 5'4" 130 lbs) and small enough in the car (a Prius). The only thing that was a little surprising is that everything gets wet - not mentioned that I remembered. Everything. You and whatever you put in the storage areas will be soaked. Water comes in through the seams and gathers in the cup holders. On the other hand, once you know that, you put your stuff in plastic bags, wear a bathing suit, and carry on. The craft is well-designed, the connectors work, and we hope it lasts a long time. It tracks well and offers real enjoyment. Put suntan lotion on your legs, wear a hat, shirt and bathing suit, and have a blast. You will be in close, intimate contact with the water. I should say the craft itself keeps the water out fine. The people and stuff sitting on top will be wet.

Bought one of the first ones out. I have carted it around in my SUV to Ocean & River. Easy to assemble, floats well & stores in a small space. In a drift it went faster than 2 other sit in Kayaks. It turns well and is stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LCROOKS Point 65N Modular Pieces for Apollo Sit-on-Top Kay
This is a unique and very practical kayak for those of us who can't lift one onto the top of a car. I can easily get both of the pieces (I haven't purchased the middle to make a tandem yet) into my CRV with the seats down and probably can get them onto the luggage rack with bungees if I try. Easy for me, comfortable too.
I had a problem with one piece and L L Bean sent me a completely new one and took the other one back with no problem at all. This is one great item from one fantastic store.
