This lantern is great for power outages. I was very surprised at the brightness of it. I would recommend this for the ease of carrying it and the brightness. Excellent size for people who don't really campout, but want something during power outages.

The lantern lights okay for what we use it for, but I do not believe it is worth the price. I was shocked at the size as it is only 2" taller than my daughter's American Girl lantern. It is for my daughter's Girl Scout camping trip so fine for her little hands, but would not recommend for an adult. It will light up the girls tent at night and great for playing games in the closet. If 7-year-old would let me, I would return but she thinks it is "adorable" so I have to keep it.

While I feel like a lil' elf when carrying it, it is kind of cute! While quite mini in size, it does throw a goodly amount of light. I like the handle. I use this lantern to walk 3-5 dogs on-leash at night, and can easily hold it and yet not accidentally bop a dog on the head as with a larger lantern. Lightweight, too, which makes it easier to manage with all the dogs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wisfishguy Great little lantern
Very bright light for such a small lantern. Perfect for camping. Hook on the bottom allows hanging from inside tent. Lens is removable to provide better downlighting in this position. This is exactly what I was looking for in a camping lantern. Also a great emergency light for at home.

Fantastic illumination! Very handy to have around! I guess I didn't read the dimensions when I ordered this lantern, and it's smaller than I expected - although adorable.. I'm too old for camping anymore, but wanted it in case of a power outage which we had last night. I had been reading a book and it illuminated that better than the light I had been using before the outage. I finished the book, and was amazed at how well I could move around.upstairs without carrying it with me. Believe it or not, I even plucked my eyebrows better than with my normal bathroom lighting! .

This lantern gives good light in a small, easily carried design. It has three levels of brightness plus a flashing SOS mode. I looked at several lanterns and preferred this one over a larger model.

I looked at this through the computer and never saw the size listed. I thought it was the same lantern that we had ordered and when it arrived, it was tiny .. toy size. I bought it as a gift for an adult and ended up giving it as a birthday present to a 4 yr. old. I love all of LL Bean products and feel the quality is probably wonderful .. but wish that the person I spoke to pointed out that it was NOT the same .. but a much smaller lantern than what we had ordered (because he knew what I was looking for and even commented that the last one we had purchased was a different color!)

This is the best little lantern. It throws a soft glow to light up your tent; you can stand it on a table or next to your sleeping bag; carry it by its handle into the darkness or when looking for gear. Plus, you can remove the lens and hang it upside down for a brighter light. I have one and I've given 2 as gifts... Really like this fine little lantern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lovelights bright and compact light
I absolutely love compact, bright lights that can go anywhere. We use this one on our back porch were there is no light and we also take it outside to find the dogs at night who often just don't want to come in. Very bright light and excellent variations on how to use it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by KNBoston Overpriced little lantern
This little LED lantern was purchased in the wake of an impending snowstorm--I was worried about losing power and wanted backup lighting. It is tiny, but gives decent light. I get the sense it's intended for hanging in a tent. Two main comments: I don't usually think Bean's stuff is overpriced, but at $29.99 I thought this was double what it should have been. In normal circumstances I would have looked for a less expensive option. Also, I bought two and both were a little wonky; didn't work consistently. I will probably be taking them back to exchange or return, hoping a different one will be better.
