We are car campers and this stove is perfect - the instastart makes lighting the stove easy, and the burners fit a pot and pan nicely side by side. We were camping on a very windy day and the side panels kept the flames going nicely. As other reviewers have mentioned, the flame settings can be tricky - it went from "simmer" to "wow that's a lot of heat" very quickly but we got the hang of it after using it for the first time. Boiled water for my kids' mac-n-cheese in a flash. Very happy with this purchase.

This is a great compact 2 burner camping stove and just what I was looking for to replace our old camping stove. It's more or less the same as our old stove bought from LLBean more than 10 years ago. Not fancy, but practical for cooking in camp. Simmered a dish I was cooking really well.
Be warned the dimensions given in the specs for this stove are incorrect. It measures when packed only 20 7/8 (L) x 12 3/4 (w) x 4 1/8 (h) inches. So is much more compact than the specs say.
Overall this stove is considerably more compact than the Century Matchless stove currently sold by LLBean, whose dimensions in it's spec say it is smaller than this Coleman stove. This Colman stove is 2 1/4 inches shorter in length, and more than an 1 1/2 inches shorter in height. So if you are short of space when packing for a camping trip I recommend the Coleman stove. Don't make the mistake I made ordering the Century Stove thinking it was smaller and then having to call LLBean to exchange for the Coleman.

We used our stove on a camping trip two days after we received it. The unit is compact, easy to store and fits in small spaces. We had used a portable grill in the past, but found this much smaller stove served us perfectly. We cooked in pots and pans as needed, but when we wanted to cook hot dogs, pancakes, and similar foods, we used a griddle which fit nicely on top of the burners. Thus it worked well as a stove and a "grill" in a compact unit. It's worth a try if your looking for a good, multipurpose camp stove.

Bought this stove as part of my initial camping set-up shopping spree and I am very happy with how it works. Is well built and very sturdy. The side-shields did a great job of protecting the flames when the wind was blowing. The only two "complaints" I have are that the flame burns so cleanly, it is difficult to tell on a bright day if the burner is actually lit; however, this is probably more a function of the type of stove this is rather than the stove itself. My guess is this is a common complaint across most camping stoves. My second complaint is the electric ignition is sometimes a bit finicky. To be fair, the fact that it is difficult to see the flame on a sunny day may be the culprit rather than the push-button ignition being finicky [e.g. maybe the button is, in fact, working but I can't tell because it is difficult to see the actual flames on a bright day]. Of course, the fact that you can light the burners with matches or a lighter makes the "finicky" electric ignition button a bit of a non-starter Aside from that, we are very happy with its cooking ability. Although we haven't done heavy duty cooking for a crowd, the stove holds a pot and a pan nicely without being overly crowded and boils water for coffee in the morning fairly quickly. We use a camp kitchen so our stove rests on a counter-top like surface but the canister itself hangs off with no underneath support. Although I was concerned about the lack of support initially, after using it many times without issue, I now realize my concerns were not warranted as I have not experienced any stability issues related to this lack of support. On a side note, Coleman does make a carry case for this stove and we did purchase it. We very much liked the carry case because not only does it protect your stove when its not in use, it has 2 side compartments to hold the small propane canisters that the stove uses as its power source making transporting the stove and the fuel very convenient. This stove is perfect for our family of 4 and I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good quality camping stove that is not terribly expensive.
