I am a size 6P in most dresses. 5'2, 110 lbs. and in my mid 40's 32B bust and small shoulders but carry more weight in the butt & hips. I have skinny arms. I ordered a 4P polka dot dress because other reviews said ran a bit big in bust. It is a well made dress, nice fabric, hangs nice but arm holes are big and it does gap some in neckline. The bra strap holders actually make it worse, which I've never had happen. It does show my bra thru the arm holes, (I usually wear Oprah's Favorite Tisha bra) and I don't like that, but I will try a X back bra to see if that fixes the problem. I will wear a heavy pearl necklace to hold down the poofy gap in the neckline. Dress hits me mid knee, longer than model in picture, which usually I don't like but it looks very nice actually. I'm going to wear with white pumps to match the dots or brown sandals with a heel because flats with this mid knee full skirt make me look a bit dumpy but would very nice on someone younger.

This dress is beautiful color and very nice fabric. It is lined nicely, too. The fit is just not right, it is tight across the chest, however; very large under the arms. The arm holes are not proportion to the rest of the dress. I tried the vibrant red, it is beautiful. Just not for my body. I am returning it, the smaller size would not work in bust area. Sorry!

This is my first purchase from L.L.Bean and I was worried on what size to wear with so many different reviews and not many with proper measurements to go by. Needless to say, this dress is fabulous! I am 5'3", my measurements are (36-27-37) weight doesn't really matter but I'm 120 with toned muscles.
I bought the color block version in a regular size 4. It fits perfect! the dress hits just at my knees and the bottom skirt flare out a little extenuating a smaller waist. I was afraid the armholes/neckline would be a little tight/awkward being as I can't wear a lot of boat neck (square front, sleeveless) clothes, but this dress works just fine for my frame.
As soon as the weather warms up, this will be the first thing I wear.

This dress is beautifully made. The fabric is soft and light, the color perfect, the silhouette is chic yet ladylike. It's just perfect.
However. It just did not fit me at all. I'm a perfectly average-sized, (5'4", 138) size 8, but the bust on this dress was WAY too small on me. It smushed my breasts down and the neckline gaped in a weird way - it didn't lie flat on my collarbones. I was hoping to be able to have it tailored, but there just isn't a way to make the bustline fit me. I am only a 36B, so I don't understand! The rest of the dress fit like a dream. It was flattering in every other way, but the bust of the dress is made for flat-chested gals. (And I can't stress enough that I am a B-CUP!)
Maybe I'll trade it in for a size 10, but I'm still not sure it'll be big enough, and getting a size 12 would be just ridiculous - I'd have to get the whole thing re-made.

I love this dress!! It's really cute and comfortable too. I also like that it's machine wash and dry - I know I'll end up wearing it a lot more than I would have if I always had to be taking it to be dry cleaned instead.

I'm 5'4", 130lbs, 36(32DD)x26x38, XS/S/4/6. Broad shoulders, long waist, short legs, pale, olive-toned, brunette.
I bought this in a 4 Regular, Black Sailboat Print.
Sizing: I read through the reviews and most mentioned the chest being snug, so I was going to order a 6. However, the 6 Regular was sold out in the print I wanted so I decided to risk the 4 instead.
My 4 measures 37" at the chest and 29" at the waist. I have no flattening effect and the dress is comfortable. The armholes are a bit big and you can see the side of my bra cup. I may be able to fix that with a different bra style. If not, I can wear a black or white bra that will blend with the dress pattern. Really, you can hardly see it, I'm talking centimeters here, but I'm bothered by that sort of thing.
The waist hits where it should and the hem hits slightly below the knee. My waistline is about 16" from the top of my shoulder (measured from the back).
The neckline is high, which is not generally flattering to a busty girl (looks droopy). But, that isn't the case here. Very likely it's the pattern, but there is no pseudo-sag.
Material and Construction: The dress is all soft cotton. It's lined in white and is totally opaque. There are lingerie snaps in the straps, and they are wide.
The dress is put together well and looks tailored even with the absence of bust darts.
Color: Black and white, I can't really expand much on that.
I love the dress. It's comfy, it's twirly, it's cotton, it's washable. I can chase my toddler at the playground in it and go out to a nice dinner with my husband in it and never once feel out of place.

I purchased my dress in tan/ cream, size 10. It is just beautiful. The fabric is cool and airy, but substantial enough not to require a slip. It requires ironing after washing, but that doesn't bother me. (I don't have a dryer, so maybe you will need to do less ironing if you have one.) I think the fabric holds up nicely while being worn. The pattern is very tasteful too - the light colors tone down the size of the polka dots.
I usually wear an 8 or a small in regular LL Bean clothing. The size 10 was perfect in this Signature dress. The bodice looks like it was tailored just for me (37C). The arm holes are perfect. I love the neckline. The skirt is a little long - below the knee - butI think I like it that way. (I am only 5'3"). I can easily hem this dress if I change my mind.
Get this dress - you won't be sorry. I also suggest that you purchase the matching cardi - size 10 was perfect for me.
