Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorAdventureGirl Best hiking boots!
I love these boots!
I looked at everyone's reviews and bought them 1/2 a size bigger and i am glad i did! I wore them right out of the box on a hiking trip over 6 miles with tons of rocks hills and various terrain. they are so comfortable and gave me no blisters which i was worried about. I am so glad that i bought them and look forward to my many hiking trips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FLvoyageuse Perfect for Boiling Lake
I've never purchased hiking boots before. Based on other reviews I ordered a half size larger. I wore them on half day market trips to break them in. That was preparation for the big test. The Boiling Lake in Dominica is a 14.4 mile up- and downhill hike in slippery, wet terrain. They were a little slippery on wet rocks, but my feet stayed dry, and with good socks, absolutely no blisters! I never would have made it without these shoes!

Rated 5 out of 5 Comfortable and good performing hiking shoe
I am very pleased with this shoe so far. I've worn them several times for short hikes (under 10K), so the big test will be in a few weeks when they need to endure all day hikes on a hilly terrain. As suggested by others, I ordered a half-size up, as I do in running shoes, since I know my feet swell. It made a big difference and they fit perfectly with thin wool socks. No blisters, no discomfort. I have enough support for my ankles even though these do not provide full coverage. And they are waterproof as I found out in some wetlands this past week. Of course, if your foot fully submerges (as mine did), there's very little you can do for the top of your foot at that point, but the remainder of my shoes and feet remained dry. I live in Ohio so this is a good shoe for my needs. I'd probably want some more ankle support if my hikes involved more intense climbing. I recommend if you're looking for a basic hiking shoe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by YukonDogMum Wear like Iron, Size Up
These shoes absolutely wear like iron. I am on my second pair now, as they may well be the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. They are fantastic on hiking trails, and the sturdy soles will protect you from whatever may be underfoot, while also offering excellent traction/grip. I've traveled from one end of the continent to the other wearing these, through desert, mountain, city concrete, rocky beaches, wilderness trails, and they have never let me down. They wear well in all seasons - in winter, I simply wear with thicker wool socks (even in -40), if just heading to work. Usually I wear 7.5-8.00, depending on brand, but in these shoes, I require an 8.5, so I would definitely recommend sizing up. I've been so pleased with these shoes, I will definitely be checking out other Merrells in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rubia501 Comfortable, waterproof and great fit!
I ordered the shoes in my regular size and they were too small.
LLBean replaced the hikers for no charge and paid for all the shipping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by STC525 1/2 size larger is perfect
Was a big fan of the LLBean hikers that are no longer available so I tried the Merrells::
Ordered my regular size 8 and it was too small! Sent it back and quickly received a size 8.5 and they fit perfectly.
Imagine: I opened the box, put them on, wore them for a Saturday morning shopping trip and did not notice I was wearing a brand new pair of shoes--they are that comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by lguhiker excellent hikers
I bought these to replace hiking boots that bothered my ankles.
These are low cut, yet offer great support.
I have only gone hiking with them twice so far, but I LOVE them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CostaRica Merrell hiking shoes
Love them! Have used them for several hikes. They are comfortable, waterproof and the soles grip when they need to. Be aware that they run small. I had to return them for the next size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by horselover56 NICE SHOES BUT....
These shoes seem to be a well made pair of hiking shoes. But I found they ran rather short and narrow. Therefore, it was hard to evaluate exactly how good they are. I returned them and hope to get a larger/wider size that will work for me. Never bought Merrill shoes before, so maybe they all run on the smaller size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by exMainiac Not right for hip replacement person
The shoes are attractive, well-made and affordable, but the "adjustments" Merrell has added, for the different build women have, only served to make my hip surgery feel like it was being adversely affected. The shoes purport to angle a woman's stride to reflect the angle of hip to knee to ankle, thus making walking more balanced. This design did not work for me, and I would not recommend these shoes to anyone with back or hip or knee problems, without their seeing an orthopedist first.
