Rated 4 out of 5 by Plantnut Nice Hiker - but questionable water resistance
Definitely order 1/2 size larger than you normally wear since the shoe runs a little small. Very comfortable and well built. Unfortunately, I cannot say that they are completely waterproof. Had leak-through recently and will be exchanging shoe for a different style. Possibly only Goretex is truly waterproof. Next pair of hikers will have Goretex.

My second pair now of Merrells. Awesome fit, took them out of the box and hiked 5.5 miles. Felt like they have been on my feet for a long time. I usually buy a sl. larger boot in the Merrells - seems to run a bit smaller than regular boots/shoes. These fit me perfect (bought the larger size). Ultra comfort, fit is perfect. Highly recommend these hikers.

I have only had a chance to wear these shoes a couple of times, but the fit is great and they are soooo comfortable! I did go by another review about ordering a half size bigger. I would highly recommend them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by fjelly Light weight - good sole grip
Just received these waterproof hikers and was able to wear them right out of the box. Initially ordered 8.5, my usual size, but because the end of the toe box turns upwards slightly, the shoe was a tad short, especially with a slightly heavy sock. So reordered size 9 which fits perfectly. The shoe is light weight and the sole is very grippy. Have worn them on wet and snowy surfaces without slipping. I like & prefer the toned down neutral colors (compared to the bright color details in some other hiker choices). Overall a very well made shoe.

Replaced my decade or more old Merrill hikers with this pair. They were comfortable from the start. The first hike I took with these shoes right out of the box was four miles. Good grip for trails and road. Lightweight, comfortable, and waterproof. You can't go wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by mullivan84 Order 1/2 size up
Just tried these on -- attractive and comfy with higher arch. They run a bit small...if you're planning on wearing thicker socks while hiking I'd probably order a 1/2 size up.

I bought 1/2 size larger based on previous reviews & they fit wonderfully. I really like the Qform support. I wear them on a daily basis, Best hiking shoes I've owned in a long time. They have a nice sturdy feel to them while still being comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CTBack Great hiking shoes
I have arthritis and spinal stenosis in my back so I need a pair of shoes that allow me to hike 3 - 7 mile moderately difficult trails with some steep climbs, allowing me to keep my back stable and cushioned. These shoes are light, comfortable, and I like the stability they give since the tread grips all types of surfaces - including wet leaves and rock. I have already put 12 miles on them and will add many more.

I gave these shoes 4 stars only because I haven't really had time to take them on long hikes and see how they fare. My experience with Merrill shoes generally leads me to believe that these will fit and wear well, and I'd probably end up giving them 5 stars. I have a narrow foot, and the fact that these run narrow is an asset for me. I agree with previous reviewers that they run small; I sized up 1/2 size and they fit fine. I don't think the "stiffness" some reviewers have complained about is a liability. You need structure on rocky trails to keep your foot stable. They were pretty comfortable right out of the box, and with the exception of one spot that rubs on one heel, haven't given me any problems. I'm sure I can break the heel in with more use.

These were okay and comfortable except I had to return as the tongue folds in an irritates my foot when hiking even with a good sock. Otherwise a good shoe and I did need to size up 1/2. If the tongue wasn't bothersome I'd keep or I'll try again maybe if the design changes.
