These shorts are very comfortable. I like the waistband. It has elastic, but doesn't look like it has elastic. The waist is cut wider for those of us that can't seem to lose the pounds in the middle. Very nice shorts, and a heavy spandex material. Fairly high waisted to camouflage that fold at the waistline we all like not to think about.
But I didn't think that they did a good job of holding their shape. After a few hours of wearing them around the yard, doing yard work and getting sweaty, they were practically falling off of me! They stretched out and never stretched back! I'm not talking about the waist, because that has elastic. I'm talking about the stretchy jeans material that has some spandex in it. It just got so baggy. Maybe because I was doing yard work, but I was expecting not to have to go in and change because they were hanging 2-3" lower than when I put them on. Probably better for picnics or driving!

These shorts fit well except for the waist. Even with the stretch waist band, they are tight and a little uncomfortable. The waist sits very high. I ordered the dark rinse which looks tailored. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I hope a few washings will soften the waist band.

I have dropped weight so was not sure of size. The 10 fits well for my 5"4" height, 138 weight. My waist is 31" and I am flat in the rear with thin legs, but some stomach. For summer I wanted some shorts, however, since I'm 65 I need shorts that are longer. Knowing these were 10" I bought them anyway and they are a little too short. However, I wanted them for yard work, etc, so they are fine. They are light weight with a nice stretch to them. The waist, although snug, stretches nicely. I'm sure I will wear these frequently this summer.

I bought these shorts to wear on an upcoming vacation. I love everything about them except for how they button up. This is a first for me. I've never had jeans, skirts or shorts that button this way. The button is sewn on the wrong side. When I first tried them on to check the fit, which was perfect, I couldn't believe how weird it felt to have the button where the button hole should be and the button hole to be where the button should be. I'll keep these shorts and will deal with the reversed button issue but it will continue to feel weird to button/unbutton these shorts. I hope that going forward L.L.Bean will inquire with the manufacturer first to make sure that the button is on the right side vs.the left side.

Love these shorts! I have two pair (denim and khaki) and wore them to Hawaii. Very comfortable and the perfect length. I"m 5'5". Wish they came in more colors like olive green, dark brown, and more shades of denim.

These size 12 shorts fit me beautifully except in the rise. Way too short and made them uncomfortable enough for me to ship them back. Read reviews from people who bought the next larger size and didn't seem to help. Unfortunately, the Made in China sticker has meant that llbean clothing does not fit me as it has in the past.

These are so comfortable!! I have two pair and plan to order the black ones soon. They are longer than some and I really like that. I am 5'4" and they are perfect for me. Nice fabric, not so thin. Wish they came in more colors

Here's what I love about LLB. I can order the same size in the wide range of pants and T's and they fit!
These shorts are very comfortable, especially the waist. Fabric feels great, the fit could not be better. I will order another pair while they are on sale.
I'm 5'2", 125 lb. Size eight-reg gives me a looser fit and no binding when I bend over. A+ on that feature.

I have always worn LLBean shorts - loved everything about them. I ordered the elastic waist when I could no longer find the type of short I had always bought with a regular fixed waist. They were very comfortable until they had been washed a few times and the elastic started to pill and they became very annoyingly uncomfortable. I suppose if they were always worn with a blouse tucked in it wouldn't be a problem. It also seems that the leg openings have gotten larger over the past few years, giving the overall look a "frumpy" look for someone who is a normal to slim size.
