Rated 5 out of 5 by Ilikeknives Excellent Classic Trout Knife
The knife is exactly like it is described. Super sharp and well made. I hunt and fish and will be using it mainly for fish cleaning and all around camp use. The blade is stronger than the longer fillet knives you see in the discount store. You won't regret buying this knife. Has a quality sheath. Should last me a lifetime.

My wife and I have owned one or two Bean's Trout Knives throughout our marriage of 55 years. We recently took one to our church kitchen to use there and forgot to bring it home. One week later, it was gone. So we bought two more. We would never be without one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CCF22 Knife useful for just about everything!
My family have used these knives since early 1940's!! Everyday use in the kitchen! Peeling, cutting etc. Grew up using and can't live without! So happy they are back to carbon blade! Easily sharpened and some of my very old ones have very thin blades! Not happy with the one I have with stainless blade. Will return for another carbon blade!!

Two or three years ago I picked up a small knife that just felt nice in my hand at the goodwill for 50 cents. I didn't see until much later that LLBean was on the handle as by the time I got it someone else had used it for such a long time that the letters were almost obscured. A few months ago I was preparing my house for sale and in the process I misplaced or lost the knife. I was devastated as it had become the next best thing in my every day life. I really missed it each day when I diced or sliced, it stayed sharp and could go from slicing an over ripe tomato to deboning a turkey. THe ONLY thing it did not do well was slice bread. I finally decided to call you to see if by my description, You would be able to tell me if that knife was still available or maybe there might be a similar one. Instead I discovered your web catalogue, went to knives and after a few minutes found my wonderful knife. I though the price was appalling as I am 81 years old and my first job in New Your city in 1953 paid $29 a week. I took a big step in self gratification and I ordered the knife for $49. I am thrilled to say that in the month since I have felt almost as if my best friend came home. I have no idea how long you have been offering this knife but I hope you will never eliminate it from your catalogue, it is a gem. .
Many many thanks

When I first receive the knife it wasn't very sharp and I had my doubts as to whether I had made a mistake but it had a good spine so I picked up a sharping stone and hit the blade with a couple of strokes and it sharpen right up. I've since used it on several fish and it works just fine.

I used the knife all weekend to clean Trout and Walleye. Altho the blade is not as flexible as I like, overall I found this tool to be of high quality, strong, sharp and multi purpose. I've no doubt this knife will serve well for many years to come. I would not hesitate to give it as a gift to my seasoned fishing buddies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MTDeanie High Quality and good design
If you are looking for a good quality knife that is made in the USA then look no further. The knife is very functional for it's purpose and will certainly last a lifetime and then some. The sheath is made very well and has a plastic lining to protect it from being cut with the blade inside. Also the fit in the sheath is tight and when the knife is pushed down to the proper seat, it will not fall out. Good product for the money and would be a good gift for any sportsman. Remember a man can't have too many knives!

Rated 5 out of 5 Big Surprise!
$50 for a simple, plain knife? I was more than a little dubious. How much knife was I paying for and how much "brand name marketing" was I wasting my money on? Still, I placed the order; I could always return it. Brother was I in for a BIG surprise!
Exceptionally well made, hollow ground, finely finished, hand detailed, razor sharp and lightly oiled. WOW! And the $50 that I was so worried about? I got a bargain! If you are a traditional fisherman (or outdoorsman of any type) this knife is a must have. L. L. Bean's catalog photo doesn't do justice to the product. Again, WOW! Thanks for a great knife.
PS - I should have known it would be great, I've been a customer for decades and have never been disappointed with anything I've purchased from L.L. Bean. Best wishes and God bless you.
