I had to return these shorts for two reasons. First, the inner and removable part was very difficult to get into and was hot and uncomfortable. Second, and more important, I ordered a Large size which should have been 36 - 38. But it was extremely tight and I could just barely button it. Thinking I perhaps had gained some inches, I measured the waist and it was only 34" and could stretch out another 1-2 inches. I concluded that the actual size did not match the stated size.

I've tried lots of shorts over the years for mountain biking and these are the absolute best! Very well constructed and thought out. sizing is dead on...for those wondering about the sizing click on the tab for sizing of these shorts. Velcro tabs for custom fit, waist band closure snap backed up with a velcro tab, pockets a decent liner and synthetic chamois. Light weight, cool, don't snag up on brush when doing single track and they are comfortable. I have 36in waist and ordered xl which covers sizes 36-39.

I have two pairs of these and I love them. Use them all the time and find the short and padded liner highly preferable to the Pearl Izumi Canyon shorts I bought at the same time. But be warned - they run small. Luckily I had read the other reviews and ordered XL - I have a 38" waist and these are the perfect size for that.

Padded for your riding comfort. Quality of the shorts are great, pockets are well thought out and strategically placed. Comfortable and ease of fitment adjustments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EagleM08 The perfect shorts
I bought these shorts online and they were delivered yesterday. As a salesperson in a men's wear store, I was most concerned about sizing, as other customers had warned that htese shorts run small. However, they fit exactly as L.L. Bean said they would; I would caution future buyers that these are sized according to true waist sizes, not "jeans sizes."
These shorts are incredibly well constucted at the seams and are made over very durable fabric that will take quite a beating for years to come. Additionally, the roomy pockets are built very tough, and I am not at all worried about broken zippers or popped seams at the pockets.
Long story short, buy these shorts.

I purchased these for my husband as a gift. He has high expectations for his biking gear. At first he was not thrilled I veered from his regular brand. After trying them on he is impressed with the quality and comfort. He liked the tan as an alternate to the black and gray he already has. We just have to exchange for a larger size now.
He doesn't like the little tabs for butting them in, but figures that's mostly a non-issue.

These ARE LIGHT WEIGHT which is very important. They look good enough to wear anywhere, the pockets are great, the fit is great, the construction is seamless and not chaffing, durable- THE BEST AND WORTH THE MONEY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT BIKING OR ANY ACTIVITY.

The design of these looked great and I wanted a second set of bike shorts with the integrated padded shorts. I ordered the XXL since according to the size chart, I was in between the XL and XXL and I'd rather have them roomy than tight for biking. When they arrived, I was impressed by the construction - they look well made, but they were way too small. These are not even close to true to size.

I purchased these and the LLBean Comfort shorts at same time. The Bean shorts are good, but the Zoic are top notch in fit and function. I use these on my Trek EX7 and I love the fit and feel.
