Rated 5 out of 5 by kristykat44 My favorite hiking pants
I hike fairly strenuously every weekend. And these are the pants I always reach for. If they aren't clean, I sometimes dig them out of the dirty laundry; that's how much I love them! As others have mentioned they are VERY thin material. But I haven't found them to rip or snag at all, and I've even done some yard work in them. I have them in the gray and they don't show sweat either. I love the way the waistband is lined in mesh, it's very soft and keeps me from getting sweaty waist, even in a pack. I'm 5'8" and the length is right on the edge of too short, but as I generally roll them up, it's a non-issue to me. They are fine when I roll them down, but if you are any taller than me then my guess is that they'd be too short. My only suggestion to improve them is that LL Bean add tabs to secure the roll-up on both sides of the leg instead of just one as they are now. By the end of a 10 mile hike the rolls are always uneven, sagging, unrolling. One tab is fine for regular pants, but for a performance pant, I think the security of two tabs makes sense. But other than that I couldn't be happier with them. I'm going to buy another pair soon!

Agree with previous reviewer who noted that hiking pants often have a strangely short rise. This rise is comfortable on a longer torso. Fabric is smooth. They look presentable enough that you could wear them around town when you needed to look decent.

These pants are fantastic. They are thin, and you can feel wind through them, so they should be worn in warm weather. The waist is to you belly button, and they are full in the hips, so they are great for curvy women. I'm 5'4" and 155 lbs. (I have small waist, and moderate hips and thighs). I'm an active hiker. I usually wear 12, but I bought 14 and they are fantastic. (The measurements online for hips are accurate) I just ordered two more pair for hiking in Montana. Not for cold weather. Feels like you are wearing nothing.

Based on the great reviews I was looking forward to wearing these shorts and long pants for hiking, camping, canoeing, etc. The fabric is SUPER light weight - in fact pretty unsubstantial, more like lingerie!! Nothing between me and a rock :) Also, when I'm hiking etc, I'm working hard - and sweating. This fabric shows wet pretty dramatically. I got the shorts in granite, the long pants in sandstone - both had that problem. The waistband is too big, so they slip down. I think the entire garment would stretch significantly with any use. I'm 5'4", 138 lbs, active. They are going back!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Luv2Go Very Light Weight - Depends on What you Need
The fabric of these pants is very light weight. If you are in hot weather or out on the trail in warm weather, they would probably be great. I wanted pants for travel, though. I need a little more substantial fabric that will keep a neat appearance. These didn't seem like they would keep a neat appearance like the Comfort Trail Pants or the Conway pants. The fit wasn't as flattering as the fit of the other two pants mentioned above. These seemed to run somewhat on the roomy side.

I bought two pair for a Galapagos cruise. They fit and were comfortable, dried quickly and served their purpose. I was disappointed that the granite pair snagged. I would have thought that a fabric intended for trekking, camping, hiking would wear better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by traveler72 Quick dry, comfortable.
These pants were bought for a trip to Panama and Colombia. The fabric is lightweight, quick dry and extremely comfortable so they are perfect for hot, humid weather. The only reason I did not give them five stars is due to the way they wrinkle......not good for travel! Also, the waist stretches out quickly and I found myself constantly having to pull them up. Usually the larger waist is a plus for me, being thick through the middle, but in this case it was too much. Because of the wrinkling issue I don't know if I will order more.

The pants fit well and moved with me on a rigorous backpacking trip. I bought them based on the measurements in the size guide and the sizing was spot on.

I recently participated in a Habitat for Humanity Global Village build and took these pants, along with a couple of other pairs. I found myself washing these out every day and hanging them over the shower curtain to dry. I literally wore them every day at the build because out of all of the pants that I brought, these were by far the best. They are light weight, comfortable (extremely!), and durable. It was very hot during the build but I was cool in these. They are breathable, and dry quickly, and they wash up like new. If you could see them now, after being covered with dirt, cement bits, clay and everything else, you'd never know I even wore them. I'll be back for more!

Rated 4 out of 5 by mysteryfan1024 Like these a lot!
Pros: Nice soft fabric, lots of pockets, belt loops
Cons: waist is a bit loose - how about making it tighter and adding a little elastic?
Also, the quarter pockets could be deeper. I am afraid my iPhone 4S (i.e., small for an iPhone) will slip out.
Overall, I like to wear them - the fabric feels so nice!
