Rated 5 out of 5 by RealWomanSizes Finally - Hiking clothes in larger sizes!
I was very excited to receive these pants. The legs fit around my thighs, there's a wee bit of extra room at the waist, and the pockets are real human being sized pockets as opposed to tiny doll-sized "I don't really need to carry anything" pockets. The fabric is super light weight- I plan to use these for backpacking and hiking, so light is a plus. The pockets can fit actual things (tissues, wallet, phone, keys) inside them (they're not comparable to men's cargo pants, but are by far the most spacious of what I've seen in ladies clothing lately).
I wear size 18 in most trousers, and ordered a 20 in this based on the size chart measurements. They fit! And at 5'5" tall, it's a joy not to need to hem the trousers. On me, the length is only very slightly too long and my hiking shoes (or even tennis shoes) will make up for that. They would work for a taller person with thinner legs, but a really tall person might find them too short.
(I also purchased "Comfort Trail Pants" - those are heavier fabric, have one more pocket, and have a slightly wider waist than the Vista trekking pants. I like both styles and will be keeping both).

Light weight and very comfortable. Love that they will dry faster, too, if I would get wet. So glad we purchased this item!

Rated 4 out of 5 by ratherBcanoeing Awesome pants--but..
So...these pants either need some sort of hook along with the snap, or a tie...or...whatever. Bending=resnapping, and these pants fit (and the bigger size is too big).
Also, I concur with the person that mentioned hemming...or having a selection of inseams would be good.
Other than that, these are probably the best pants (I just had to sew in my own hook closure and I walk on the cuffs in certain shoes).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Islewalk Great for hot weather
These pants are perfect for hot humid weather. I live in Hawaii and right now it is as hot and humid as it ever gets. I don't wear shorts and I'm always looking for pants that are cool enough to hang out in in my house but are flattering to wear to the store and out and about. These pants are soft and cool. I can feel the breeze going through them but they are textured and so are not revealing. The crotch is gusseted and so in addition to the comfort of stretch they are designed to move in. I rated the waist as somewhat loose but I have a very small waist and large hips so it could just be me. They did not stretch out during wear and are durable. I love them!

Wonderful material, washes and dries quickly for use while traveling, wish llbean custom hemmed because these are too long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KH10 Good for travel; fabric is very light
I purchased these for travel and the fabric is very light and very comfortable. Wrinkles are minimal and I plan to wear these on airplanes, train etc. Note that the light fabric makes it difficult to put anything weighty in the cargo pockets on the side, but the back pockets will hold an average sized cellphone
The dark color is very suitable for dressing up or down, but I would definitely categorize these as casual pants. I believe they are designed for hiking but I plan to use them for touring. Easy to wash by hand in a sink and they dry within hours and the tabs make them easy to convert into capris.
I bought them on sale; they are a bit pricey but with LL bean quality I have no doubt they will be dependable and useful.

Disappointed in fabric; snags easily with light wear ... Certainly not suitable for 'trekking'. Will return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hiker9 Nice Pants
Very comfortable fit and nice, light-weight material. I don't like anything tight, and these fit perfectly in the waist, hips and legs. Fit is true to size. Sits slightly below waist.

Rated 4 out of 5 by outdoorplantwoman Pretty awesome pants for really hot, messy days
When I tried these pants on in the store, I couldn't believe how lightweight they were. Even though they are light and keep the legs well ventilated, they are strong too! I bought them over a year ago, and have spent many many hours doing field work, slogging through marshes and swamps, tripping over thorny vines, crawling on hands and knees under thick vegetation, and sometimes getting soaked up to my waist in them. They haven't ripped at all-- although the fabric isn't as orderly and smooth as when I first bought them, but no big deal for me-- soil washes out pretty well, they dry so fast, and they are, again, really lightweight. The light color is great for being able to spot ticks crawling up the legs. I think they are more fashionable than the average LLBean pants, too, which is nice, though I would rather them sit still lower on the waist. When I tuck my shirt in, they just look too dorky. Also, they are too short for me! I wish they were offered in extended lengths. I like the side, mid-thigh pockets-- they're good for things that you don't want to sit on or squash in the other pockets. These are my go-to pants for messy summer work in the outdoors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by campingkat Bought a second pair!
I purchased a pair in granite last year. I usually roll the pant legs as these only come in regular and I am 5' 2". Nice, light weight fabric for hot days. The pants snagged, but that did not stop me from purchasing a second pair in sandstone #I think I might have been happier with olive green.# I had to enlarge the buttonhole on one of the tabs #the button would NOT fit through the existing buttonhole#.
Size 6 is a little large in the waist while somewhat snug in the thigh. The thigh loosens up after washing and wearing a few times. I would be reluctant to purchase these if I did not have a few L.L. Bean coupons to lower the price.
