I bought this sweater in Navy and wore it a lot. Loved it. I bought a small because ll bean small is usually 6-8 and I wanted it to be a bit more roomy since all the reviews say its running fitted and small. I am usually a small 4 on top. My skinny 13 y/o son even borrowed it as it looks unisex when you cover the wide crew neckline with a wool scarf. Then tragedy struck. My son put it in his laundry basket and my husband who believes in only warm wash/hot dryer, washed it. It really shrunk. So, now my son can't wear it and now I have a skin tight sweater. Not going to wear it much at all now as Its like a fitted size 2 crop sweater! Considering buying another in size medium this time. Just have to keep it away from my husbands wash day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KarenCanada beautiful sweater
I received this sweater as a gift from my mom. This is exactly what I expected, a simple but very elegant sweater. It's perfect for fall and early winter here in Canada. I have no doubt it will keep me warm! This sweater tends to run smaller than normal. I am usually a medium but my mom bought me one size bigger because it's slightly fitted. I recommend this sweater to anyone who love simplicity and that East Coast look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AnotherArkansasShopper Coveside Novelty Stitch Sweater--nicer than cable
Months ago, I tried the cable Coveside sweater, and found it narrow and uncomfortable. The novelty stitch sweater is a different animal, and I think that may be what has led to such very different reviews. The novelty stitch sweater seems to be true to size, but can be easily stretched, if necessary, which is not true of the cable sweater. I, too, would have preferred a crew neck, but the open neck is very nice with a collared shirt. The sweater feels good, is warm without being wooly, and looks nice on. As pictured, the sleeves and bottom of the sweater hit about the same place.

Received the cable stitch version of this today. I'm between a medium and a large but hard to fit because I'm tall with long arms. After reading other reviews I ordered extra large. Fits just like I wanted it to. Covers to low hip so I can wear this with slim pants or heavy tights. I love that the neckline is open so this sweater won't get too hot and I could sometimes layer a collared shirt under it. Drapes nicely, pattern isn't too bulky. Arms are long, so I turned up the cuffs, something I almost never get to do. I'm 5'9", 165 lbs, slightly pear shaped.

Rated 4 out of 5 by VTFan Good fit and quality
I have had this sweater for about a year, and I am still happy with it. It washes well and keeps its shape. I bought a size S, which is my usual size. I would not have chosen the scooped neckline, but with a collared shirt or scarf, it looks fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MEMama2 Love this sweater!
I love this sweater and am so happy to see LL Bean bringing in some slimmer-fitting tops. I have the cabled, solid dark blue Coveside sweater and I wear it all the time. I have washed it multiple times (cold and air-dried), and it still looks fabulous every time. It is tight, but I like that in a sweater. I found it fit true to size because I was looking for a slim style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BeanintheNorth Fitted!
Friends, this is a beautiful jumper and the cream colour is warm and lovely. (If you fancy it, buy it now - it sells out quickly, I had to wait a whole year for it to come back into stock!) However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is fitted. Be aware of that when ordering. If you'd like it looser, you might rather order a size up. At 5'7" and 145lbs, I think I'm at the absolute max for the medium size. She was right, who wrote that it is meant for flat(ish) tummied gals. Also as a nursing mother (read 36DD), it's "fitted" to be sure. However, it looks great with a chambray shirt poking out at top and bottom and with an A-line skirt, it's charming! And it is the appropriate choice for wide-leg trousers, too. It's a traditional look and the neckline is very flattering. The shoulder buttons are sweet. It's lovely and cosy, perfect for that transition season! I think, and I'm willing to wager and order it, that the Novelty Stitch version is a bit more forgiving.

Very preppy sweater, perfect fit in a medium, i am 5'6 130 pounds. Thick and warm. Looks very stylish with a flannel underneath with the collar standing up! Watch out New England, here I come!

Rated 2 out of 5 by TrStacey Large Arms
I love the look of this sweater. However, once on it is somewhat too wide in the body, and ridiculously wide in the arms. It looks terrible - so disappointing as I was really looking forward to this one. I'm not sure it would look much better in a smaller size. I really don't understand the reviews that claim it is too tight or small, as the other two l.l. bean sweaters I ordered fit perfectly (all were a size small).
