The Ridge Runner used to be my favorite shirt.
I've had a few of these shirts over the years. There are three significant changes from the past generation;one is for the better, but two are not.
I'll start with the upside. First, the collar has changed. It's been tweaked to stand up and not flop over like the previous Ridge Runner shirts. I like this, as I either have the zipper fully unzipped (when I'm running or cycling in warm weather) or fully zipped when I'm hunting or biking in cold weather.
One the downside, I was disappointed to find out Bean no longer includes a sleeve pocket. I used to place my lip balm there and found it very handy when going on runs/hikes where I wasn't wearing a jacket.
A second change to the Ridge Runner shirt is the fit. The body still offers an extremely comfortable fit, but the sleeves are now skinnier. This tight bicep fit tugs at the collar when I'm running, and I find it annoying. Now I find this shirt is fine for activities like cycling (where my arms are relatively motionless) but it's no longer a high activity "go to" choice.
I still wear the shirts because they look great, the material feels good, and they're great for daily wear under a flannel or over a T shirt. However, they no longer in my arsenal for what I originally intended them for.
Bean, please bring back the old style Ridge Runner shirts!

Perfect top for TX weather, light weight, attractive colors. Perfect fit. I purchased it after seeing my sister wearing her 2...had to get my own.

This is super comfy and light weight. I use it for running and as a base layer when hiking in the high peaks in the adirondacks! Holds up well and very breathable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DTarditi Good - not perfect, but good
I'm warm-natured, so this was purchased as an intermediate layer, or outer layer on days around 45-50 degrees.
The fit and comfort of this pullover is decent. As it is meant as a layer, it is cut close-to-size. The sleeve length is good - I normally require a tall cut, but this is regular and the cuffs come to my wrists just fine. It breathes relatively well.
My principle complaint, is that as a second layer the inner seams are a bit scratchy against the skin (for instance, worn over a wicking T-shirt).

Rated 5 out of 5 by PeteSieminski Perfect for Fall
Perfect for those fall days with the leaves falling to stay just warm enough. Very light, a little snug on the fitting but overall a great buy. Very happy with the purchase and will likely buy another!

Shirt fits great and looks good with athletic build. Material is light making it a spring or summer choice. Will be trying the short sleeve version as well.

I like this shirt so much I bought it twice (in different colors). It's perfect for chilly-ish bike rides, and it's not too warm to wear on a hike in the seventies.

Although it looks nice they are itchy and easily damaged if snagged

I have several of these shirts. Older style are made of a more durable material - they don't snag as easily. I like the fit of both (older style is a little looser). None of my older shirts (had a different name) ever snagged; just about all of the new ones have a snag and a thread hanging somewhere. I like the LL Bean logo on the front; older style had it on the back. Keep working on it!
