Rated 5 out of 5 by Txchacha Snappy Little Dress!
I had looked at this dress online last year but never got around to purchasing it. Saw it again recently and the price was right. Just received it yesterday - am very impressed with the materials used and construction. I'm always concerned about the way these type dresses will look on - I'm 5'3" and have a dumpy granny figure, but the lines of this dress are flattering even on my butterball frame. The length is perfect as well, falls just below my knee. I ordered the navy and the color appears to be more of a blue-purple than navy, but that's fine - these colors will work well this summer. This will be my go to dress on days when comfort and style will both be needed. LL Bean, please keep offering this dress - perhaps in other colors! Thanks.

I bought this dress for an anniversary dinner on vacation. I am 5 ft 3 in and 125 lbs. I rightfully should order a Petite size but always order the Regular (4) so that the dresses fall at or below the knee. I was not disappointed with this dress. It fell below the knee as I like it. It is so lighty and airy especially for being well made and lined. This dress is so versatile, can be worn with a sweater in cooler temps. I wore it in 90+ degree weather and it kept me cool and comfy. You cannot go wrong with this dress. I received many compliments. Love the pattern/color combinations too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gulfcoastmom LOVE Madras and Seersucker Dresses!!
I have never given a review previously, but I had to review such a GREAT PRODUCT! Classic and fun, these dresses are perfect for any woman. I love these so much that I have ordered both madras colors and the blue seersucker dress. It's so hard to find dresses this cute and of this quality construction. Thank you, LL Bean, for offering these at reasonable prices! Please, please continue this dress in year-round colors and materials. I think everyone that has reviewed these dresses would appreciate other options, as well. PS: Ordered down one size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovie1170 Awesome Dress!
I just love this madras "cornflower blue" Kennebunkport dress. I ordered a size down as others recommended, and it fits just perfectly, and I truly love this dress. And yes, it is like going back in time to the '60's. I am 5'7" tall, 159 lbs., large bust #DD#, and this size 10 dress fits as thou it was tailor made for me. The midriff section is not too tight, very forgiving, but fitted at the same time. I also tried a size 12 in the darker blue madras color which I liked better initially, but it was too big, mainly in the arms...After seeing the two colors side by side, I think the "cornflower blue" is prettier as it is a little more subtle and has a variety of colors. This is one of the nicest dresses I have had in a long time. Highly Recommended!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Emma1967 Great dress but a little dull.
I've had this dress for a couple of years now. It's still in good shape but it's faded quite a bit. I hand washed it in cold and hung to dry but it didn't make a difference. I'm Petite so I got the smallest size available which was a 4. I could have used a size 2 or 0. I liked the style so instead of sending it back I did the alterations myself. I had to take it in quite a bit on the waist and hips. For a size 4 I'm surprised at how much room they gave in the hips. The construction is good but the zipper is cheap and not easy to zip up. I loved the pattern but the colors aren't as bright as they are online they're really on the dull side. Overall I like the dress. It's very comfortable and cool to wear in the summer. I hope they keep this dress in their line but bring in more colors. This style would be awesome in black.
Thanks LL Bean.

The style of this dress reminded me of dresses I wore in high school with a string of pearls. The blue madras is much richer in color than the photograph. Fabric is substantial yet cool enough for hot, sweltering summer days without being clingy. The lining is an additional bonus. The length is perfect for those of us who have "transitioned" into the "new middle- age" of our sixties, but yet want to maintain a stylish look. I usually wear a size 12 dress and used to measure 5'10". The dress hits me just above the knees giving it a modest, but not matronly appearance. My dilemma is the fit. I think that a smaller size would give this dress a more flattering fit. Big around the armholes and I can grab about an inch of material in back giving it a more fitted look. Perhaps a size 10 would fit better.

Love this dress. I did have to size down but it fits like a dream. Great silhouette. That's why I'd like to see it offered in darker colors too, such as black, so it could be more of a year-round dress.

Bought this dress to wear on my 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip to Destin, Florida. Fits perfect, packs well, washes well and line dries. Goes from casual to dressy depending on the accessories. I chose the Madras Print. I have received lots and lots of complements on this dress. Good choice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LifeLongLLBeanShopper Nice Dress but runs big
I have to agree with the majority of the reviews on this one. The fit is nothing like the model. I am 5'5'' and 120 lbs so have always worn a 4. The length goes right to the knee, not above the knee as shown. Also it ran very big. I did as one person suggested and washed it in hot water and dryer and it did shrink and inch over all. It is a cute dress and well made just too bad it doesn't come in a size 2 or perhaps I should of bought a petite. One thing I did do is wear a belt with it and that brought it in at the waste. If it was a bit more fitted I would of given it 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Greybirdk Cool retro summer dress
This dress is comfortable and well made. I found the madras squares an attractive design. I bought it because it reminded me of a preppy madras dress I had in the early 1960's. Since I am more of an apple shape with broad shoulders, it is a little large in the hip and snug across the bust for me. Mercifully, it fits my menopause middle with ease. The size chart seems accurate, so slimmer women might want to size down. I've work it to work with a cotton cardigan and to a day at the races with a casual straw hat, and received compliments on both occasions. Temps in the low 80's, I was very glad for the cotton lining. I bought a regular size 12, and it's below the knee on my 5'3" frame, but at age 63, I like the extra coverage when seated. I like it well enough to buy another one in the dark blue pattern.
