This is perfect for wearing on its own, so I don't know why it's called a layering top. I was reluctant to buy it because I thought it would be like an undershirt but it is made from very nice fabric and a style that has good coverage, even for bra straps. So I think you should change the name of it.

Rated 5 out of 5áby NEtoMW Great under sweaters
I just increased my inventory of these tanks as I find I wear them so frequently. They are great under sweaters - esp. light weight cotton cardigans (no worry about the 'gap' between buttons plus is more comfortable against skin). If between sizes, and going to be worn under another sweater, round down. I normally wear a medium in sweater, but buy a small in these. (The small is larger than those from another mfr. I had. They have a lot of stretch. I do air dry mine - or put on no heat in dryer - as I find the lycra stretch holds up better.

Rated 5 out of 5áby JoJoshopper Need Petite length!
This is a nice quality tank with just the right cut in front. I am 5'1" and I ordered a size Small in white. The white is not see-through, by the way. It is neither tight nor too loose, so it's fine. But the length is too long on me and I am not someone who likes the short look. It covers most of my behind and ends where my thighs begin. This would be the perfect top if it were a couple of inches shorter. I would buy several if they come out with a Petite version.

Rated 4 out of 5áby nightgale Excellent, real clothing for real women
I rarely buy tanks because they are usually flimsy, thin strapped, half-transparent bits of fluff for gals who weigh 105 pounds and want to show the little cleavage they possess.
And now, voila! Nice fabric, slightly stretchy, but not tight, soft, not sheer, decent straps, securely stitched, modest but feminine cut, and the hem comes well below the belly button. And, extremely comfortable!
I wanted tanks specifically to go under the eyelet tunics and other LLB things where a subtle layer is necessary. These tanks look smooth under clothes.
However, they put me in a bind as they debuted the Spring fashions prior to showing all the tank top colors. This brings me to my little pet peeve with LLB. They don't do colors right.
(Of course, usually they do. They have conquered black, white and denim. Each season they have some lovely additions. But many are a shock. It is almost a trademark characteristic, this unbalanced palette, odd. I see many other comments on it.)
Well, make these tank tops in the same colors as the blouses. Pink blouse, pink tank, etc. And then, please, put them on sale simultaneously and in the same catalog!
Stone is a very good invisible base color! Is it for sale now? Anybody's guess. You have to live in fear of missing a catalog due to the unpredictability of these color variations. And the colors are never true on a monitor. I admit, however, most of my tanks did miraculously end up matched to the appropriate shirt.

Rated 4 out of 5áby SherryCT Works for me!
I ordered 4 of these tanks when there was a sale going on and I had LLBEAN coupons, so I basically got them for about 6 bucks a piece. I am medium build with a 38 B bust. I ordered mediums. They fit well...have spandex in them so there is a little bit of 'taught ness' across the bust. One wash in cold water and the fit is still the same. Colors still same. Arm holes are fine too (it is a tank top so there needs to be some give there). I think they could be a bit bigger for me but the large would probably be too big with gaping at arm holes. FYI..spandex can be a bit warm if you are like me in the 'flash' stage of your life! :-)
For the price I got them at I am keeping them.

Rated 3 out of 5áby coho I made an assumption
I buy llbean's pima tees, shells, and tanks every year. I love them. I love the way the feel and the way they fit. I bought 2 new tanks for a hot summer vacation and didn't even try them on before I left because I have so many I know what size I wear. I was so disappointed when on vacation I put a new tank on and...it was way too small. I looked at the tag and the shirt has spandex in it. It was so snug that it shows ALL my lumps that I don't like to be reminded of. It is my fault. I thought I was buying another 100% pima cotton shirt. So, my advice is not to assume...read it all before you buy. I will buy the 100% cotton shirts with NO spandex.
If you are slim without bulges, it's a good quality tank and I would recommend it.

The actual color of Blue Pine differs considerably from the color on the web site. The actual color would better be described as "Bright Turquoise."

Rated 5 out of 5áby Profelita Great regular tank
The fabric on this tank is plenty thick enough to stand alone. If you tend to overheat it would even be hard to layer it in warm weather. I ordered an extra small and the fit is good. I am 5'3" 112 lbs. If you are really thin or a small bust it may fit on the looser side. Also, the cut makes it pretty for giving on mom tummies.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Suze70 Pretty Good
I've been wishing for a top like this ever since Bean quit making a similar scoop necked, short sleeved, t-shirt. I have 4 of them, but even with careful washing they've faded so they don't match the pants I buy from you. I'd prefer the t-shirt, but these do OK. I like the small amount of spandex which gives body and stretch to the shirt. I like the heavier weight, that it's fitted and falls at the hip. The one reservation is the fit under the arms. They gap, a lot. I tried a smaller size, but just feel like a sausage and it still gaps. I read this in earlier reviews and find it peculiar since your clothes usually fit so well. However, since I wear it under an opened shirt, I can make do. I'd love it if you'd bring the t-shirt back.
