These pants have some give to them so order the next size down. Happy dance, right?! I like the give. It makes them more livable for all day. The fit is very nice. Looks feminine while being useful. They might come out of the dryer a bit tight but they loosen up as the day goes on. I also ordered the med tall inseam. I like mine long. I'm 5'7". They sit at the waist. I'm very very happy with these.

I have a pair of Southport pants in every color. They are perfect for walking the dogs and competing in dog sports. The cargo pockets hold what I need without having to carry a purse. There is plenty of space for treats, pick-up bags, my phone, car keys, etc.
My only concern is that in the newest pairs, summer - fall 2014, the front pockets are more shallow. I always have a chapstick in my pocket and lately it has been falling out. I measured the depth of the pockets compared to previous years and they have lost about 1". I am hoping this is a manufacturing defect and not a permanent change!
LL Bean: I would LOVE to see these pants in black! And white or ivory for summer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Alex721 these do NOT sit low on the waist
LL Bean must have a different definition of "sits lower on the waist" than I do, because these definitely sit ON my waist. From the description I was expecting something more of a hiphugger. The pants fit through my hips and thighs, but are tight on my waist. The fabric is quite nice--smooth and soft. I would have really liked these had they actually sat "lower on the waist."

I have been looking for camo cargo pants for the longest time and finally found a pair I am totally happy with.. They are exceptional quality - great fabric, made extremely well, and can be worn year round. Thank you LL Bean.

These pants look great on and the material is super soft. They wash well and if taken out of the dryer promptly do not require ironing. I ordered the olive color and plan to buy a second pair. Love, love, love these pants, and highly recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by NorthbyNorthwest I would like more colors
The first time I ordered these pants in dark blue, they were great. However, when I ordered another pair, the blue color had changed to a blue with a kind of milky color, just as in the picture. I returned them because the color is awful. A regular dark blue would be better and a chocolate color would be great. The quality of the material is very good, and the size is good as well.

Love the weight and feel of of the fabric-not heavy and nice and soft. Great pockets that lie flat on the leg. I am 5' 8 1/2" and ordered the long. They are generously long! Attractive buttons; and the bonus is that they can be rolled up and buttoned in place if you desire.I ordered two pairs and am very glad that I did!

Rated 1 out of 5 by roadtripper0914 Disappointing pants don't hold their shape
I bought these cotton cargo pants because I needed them during a road trip, although I was not sure that their minimal 2% spandex content would sufficiently balance the softness of the fabric. However, they fit well, looked good and held up nicely for several days. But it was a different story after I got home and washed them for the first time (in my gentle, modern washer, exactly according to the instructions). The pants were much limper and seriously needed ironing. After just one morning of wear they had ballooned in the seat, knees and thighs, and were a wrinkled mess. It was embarrassing to be seen in them. I have sent them back. I don't know whether the lack of spandex is entirely to blame or whether something important washes out of this particular fabric. In any case, it's interesting to note that a clerk at the Bean store where I bought these pants said women are requesting that items not contain much or any spandex because it's "not natural" and "wears out quicker." Seriously? Do mature women (55+) really want to look this sloppy?

wow! These are both comfy, soft to the touch, and yet not baggy-loose-frumpy pants! I am over 50 and don't like the young yoga pants (not interested in everyone seeing every part of me.....). These are more comfortable than jeans. Bought several pair! Thanks to LL Bean's special promo, the price was pretty reasonable. Acceptable for daily Mass and all errands. I don't feel like a slob in these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by WeeluvLLbean Great fabric weight and fits a curvy figure
I ordered a petit 6 in light almond hoping that they would fit me. I am a tiny bit over 5'2" and 116 lbs. I have a small waist, flat tummy, but tend to carry my weight in my bottom and thighs. Normally I can't comfortably wear pants that advertise a "slim" cut because they are too snug around the bottom and too big in the waist at the same time. These pants fit perfectly . They don't bag in the waist and fit great in the bottom and leg area. They have a loose/relaxed fit. I could probably have gotten by with the size 4, but I wanted to have the option to tuck in thicker tops in cooler months and didn't want the bulk to make them too tight. The inseam actually measures 28" now that I've machine washed and dried them but they are plenty long for my height. These pants do have a modern-fit rise, though. If you expect them to reach your belly-button, they won't. The rise on mine measures 9" and they sit about 2.5" below my b-b. The fabric feels peached and is of a medium-heavy weight. I enjoyed them so much I've now ordered another pair and also a pair of the shorts.
