These are cut right for the size, making them a bit too large, but I'm keeping them. One problem, though: opening that top button! I suspect the buttonhole was cut too small. That's the problem with ordering by mail. May 26, 2013

The legs don't have any excess material to flap in the wind. I can walk or hike comfortably in these. I bought both colors available and would buy other colors if they would be available. I have always struggled with LL Bean sizing as it always seems supersized. These were exactly what I hoped and expected. They were true to size in the description. I am ordering another pair. The length is perfect for working outdoors in the yard, and not that slim that I can't load up the pockets. Hopefully I can find cargo shorts cut the same way. As far as the seams, someone may have a point if these will last. May 11, 2012

Rated 2 out of 5 too small I ordered a pair of these after reading all the reviews saying they were cut very small, and I definitely should have trusted the reviews. These shorts are very small...they seem shorter than they are described (I got the 9" inseam version) and are very tight around the leg. I returned them and probably won't buy shorts from LL Bean for a while because of this. I bought some shorts last year from them that fit great, it seems like they might have changed the cut of their shorts, so unfortunately now I don't trust their sizing. March 31, 2012
