Rated 5 out of 5 by CookingOrganist A happy reunion with an old friend
I owned a striped L.L. Bean Casco Bay striped short sleeve polo shirt back when I was in high school, and gave it away when I lost a bunch of weight. I hadn't owned another one since, but I always recalled how much I preferred the fit, fabric and attractive chambray details to every other polo shirt I had ever owned. When I discovered the return of the Casco Bay polo some months ago, I decided to try another one. So far, it reinforces my good memories. I haven't had this shirt long enough to know if it will be as durable as that one of years past, but in all other ways, it is once again my favorite.

I totally love this shirt, but after ordering several in my size (all five shrinking in length) I'm confused and hot under the collar! I can only wear them around the home or yard. (course the belly button will get a tan... :)
Should I order a tall?

I purchased 1 of these shirts this summer and wore it often and love it, so have just ordered 2 more even though it's almost the end of the short sleeve season here in the midwest, but with the 2 I just ordered, I'll be ready for next spring. The stripes are nautical, which I like. Size-wise, it seems to run slightly large, but the next size smaller would prob. be too small for me. Besides, the loose fit is comfortable. The fabric in these polos is heavier and quite durable, and not flimsy like so many name brand polos are, and it wears like iron. With repeated washings, the shirt fades, but it is supposed to do that-the description says that it will, and it does. A little pricey, but with Bean's unconditional guarantee, you can hardly go wrong. I've returned items that I've had for a couple of years because I was not satisfied and received a refund without question or hassle.

The material this shirt is made of wrinkles very easily. Wearing your seat belt will leave you with bunches of deep wrinkles. And after a couple washings the colors faded noticeably.

Purchased two of these shirts. Both have shrunk and faded. These shirts are only a few months old but they look like I haved worn them for years. These are sub-par, not LL Bean quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 8066 Very disappointed
I ordered the Casco Bay Polo for my husband. I have washed it twice, according to directions. No hot water was used and no extreme dring temp was used. The shirt has shrunk in the length so much that he can only wear it around the house. Very disappointed in the quality of this product. I would not recommend spending money on this shirt.

MomShopsatLLBean New Pattern, different fit
I bought two Casco Bay shirts for my husband. He has several older Casco Bay Polo shirts and enjoys wearing them on weekends. This is a new pattern and the fit is different. While he might not notice a new hair style on me or a different color paint in the dining room, he did notice the different fit and comfort of the new shirt. The sleeves appear shorter and are angled down so that it binds in the shoulder area when he lifts his arms. Attached is a photo of the new Casco Bay shirt spread on top of the old shirt (Item O NQ65) with the seam of the sleeves lined up (where the armpit would be). He doesn't have any polo shirts that aren't Casco Bay, so I can't comment on how these compare to the latest fashion, but the new style doesn't provide the freedom of movement the old style did. Maybe if he had the body shape of his mid-twenties he might favor the look more than the comfort. Unfortunately, these will have to be returned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Brigham70 Nice shirt
My review is for the same shirt, but different color - I got the green one. This is a really nice shirt!! But beware, it runs small!! I got a xxtall and it is more like a xxlarge. Not exactly a tall. Also, if you are big in the chest, like me, it'll fit a wee bit snug.

Rated 1 out of 5 by hookedagain Material & care tag
I have always liked LL Bean products. Well made and last a long time. This polo looks giid but it is not going to last a long time. I have just worn it onc and the material weave pulls very easily to the faintest touch. Having white pulls on a blue polo doesn't look well. Also, the care tage is in spanish and chinese - NO english anywhere on the garment. This is also very disappointing. I would not buy another of this kind of shirt and further will be more cautious about LL Bean products.

This item is very classy, yet so casual. The styling is so well created that it looks so nice untucked. The fit was perfect and the weight just right for a summer day.
