Rated 3 out of 5áby Anthony1234 Ugly Shade of Blue
The shade of blue (Bluejay) is offputting. It looks like something you wrap your preschooler in when you send him off to kindergarten. Admittedly, the photo in the catalogue shows the color accurately. Unlike me, you should believe your lying eyes. Also, if you are 5?10? or taller you will want the long size (preferably in another color). There is a $10 extra charge for long.

What a great jacket! I purchased this in anticipation of a trip to Mt. Washington. As is to be expected at the summit, it began to rain very hard just after noon but this jacket kept me completely dry! Not only that but it breathed so well I never felt sweaty or stuffy during our descent. The pit-zips provide good ventilation and the jacket appears very well made with quality seams and resilient material.
I am 5' 9", 145lbs and a Medium fits me perfectly. Sleeves extend 3/4 of the way between wrist and knuckles which is perfect for me. Fit is great for me with room for a few layers beneath. It is not, however, sized for people with large upper bodies.
I have an LL Bean backpack which has been abused for over 10 years and it still looks almost new; I anticipate I will be satisfied with this jacket for years to come as well. Now my only course of action is to purchase one for my wife, who unfortunately discovered that her "water resistant" shell was not adequate protection when the rain started coming down in droves :)

Rated 5 out of 5áby AJP3 Perfect to use as a rain, running or ski shell
With four adjustable points on the hood, adjustable wrist straps, waterproof zippers (that don't get stuck on extra material because there is no extra material), and under arm zips that easily open and let cool fresh air in, there is literally no other word to describe this shell other than perfect.
I've used it as just a basic rain shell, I've ran in the rain with it, and I plan on using it to ski in this winter with some layers underneath. The chest pocket has a headphone port which runs to the inside of the jacket and is easily accessible so that you don't have to unzip your shell to change a song or answer a call, you can just go into the chest pocket.
Overall, the Pathfinder Waterproof Shell is the perfect year round shell.

This jacket will keep you dry and seems built well (it is LLBean after all). I ordered a Tall medium and it seems a little larger than indicated in the size chart, but not too large to return. The internal headphone hole is a nice touch.

Rated 5 out of 5áby fitzpb Great Jacket - Better than Gore-Tex!
This has quickly become my go-to jacket for just about every situation when a jacket is necessary. It keeps me perfectly dry on wet days while still allowing my body to breathe (thank you ll bean for pit zips!!!) The material is incredible - quiet AND comfortable. My old Gore Tex jacket was super noisy and did not "move" with me. This jacket has just a hint of stretch in it that makes it the perfect companion to your outdoor adventures. I purchased the sprout color and am always getting compliments on it - it's a very cheery color. I am 6' 200 lbs with an athletic build and the Large Tall size fits me perfectly. I could probably keep going on about how much I love this jacket, but you get the point. It's an incredible value and has far exceeded my expectations. Just buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5áby JimNTheBurgh Great Shell For High Mileage Winter Running.
I use the Pathfinder Waterproof Shell as an outer shell for running (in the winter right now). So far it has worked very well! I use four layers underneath it. It keeps heat in, weather out, and so far seems to breath rather well. The range of motion for running is just fine - no problems. I am a high mileage runner (54+ miles per week) and I run year round. I plan to use this jacket through the spring (reducing layers underneath it as the weather warms up), and may use it occasionally in the summer for running in the rain. As an outer shell I previously used what I believe was perhaps an earlier version of this jacket from LL Bean - it had Spandex(R) material in the outer layer though. After 3+ years of running, it is still usable but rather worn out (but I gave it A LOT of use). The present shell/jacket is working out as a fine replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5áby MonTex Great rain jacket and more!
I received this jacket this morning and took it for it's first use up to the mountain skiing. It's fantastic! It's not just a rain jacket for me but also as a very light shell for my down jacket for skiing or simply for casual wear. The quality is there, the fit(medium is perfect. It's probably a little bit on the larger side of medium but that works well for layering. Like I said, I used it as a shell for my ultralight down jacket Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer) for skiing it really complimented each other. I like the nice sized functional side and chest pockets. If there is one thing LLBean can improve in this jacket, it will be to line the side pockets with fleece type material but other than that it's perfect all around.
BTW, I got the cayenne colored jacket to go with my "shark" colored Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hooded Jacket. The orange trim on the Ghost Whiperer goes perfect with the cayenne Pathfinder.
Another kudos to LLBean for the quick delivery. It was originally estimated to be delivered 5 days from today but it got here so fast, made my day up in the mountains.

Rated 5 out of 5áby bean90 Awesome rain jacket!
The Pathfinder Waterproof Shell is exactly as described. However, I would not consider this to be slightly fitted like the description says, maybe in the arms, but certainly not in the chest/body area. I am a female and I ordered a small. I find that I like the fit of men's jackets over women's sometimes because they are slightly longer and go past my waist - this is exactly what I was looking for. Cinch cords at the bottom are a great option too if needed. I LOVE that there are three cinch cord options on the hood to customize the fit, this is a great design feature! The TEK 3 is excellent, great fabric quality with just enough stretch. Someone mentioned that the pockets were not deep enough and things could fall out without zippering - though I find zippering my pocket a no brainer when valuables are inside, I would say the pockets are slightly shallow in comparison to various other jackets I have owned, but the pockets are also abnormally tall, which is a cool feature if you want to put a long/tall object in your pocket such as a large flashlight.
I think it would be nice if the chest pocket was lined with fabric (to protect a device) as it is designed for music listening with a headphone loop on the inside. Also, I think it would be nice if the hood was more helmet compatible and if the lower hood cinches were on the the outside of the jacket, rather than inside, making hood adjustments a tad easier. BUT, thats just my opinion. Otherwise, I have no regrets about purchasing the jacket, excellent L.L. Bean quality as always.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Navdoc13 Waterproof for sure
This jacket is everything you could ask for at a great price. It's completely impervious to rain/sleet/snow and wind. I've actually used it in cold weather with a layer underneath (fleece or the like) and it's functioned in cold temperature by simply creating a barrier between me and the elements. Love this jacket! Thanks for delivering a great product LL Bean!
