Rated 5 out of 5 by OnlyPercale Great Rain Jacket!
There are a number of things I like about this jacket. It is very stylish and would seem to fit more in the LLBean's Ascent Collection, but there is already the Goretex version of this jacket in the ascent collection. I have little knowledge of the Goretex version, but my understanding of the TEK3 Nylon is that it is breathable and waterproof and durable and is obviously extremely well constructed--as are all things from LLBean.
The fit is perfect. I am 190 lbs, 5'9", and the medium fits perfectly with some room for midlayer. It has excellent pockets and zippers, including the pit zips.
I also had looked at the Neoshell Bounder which is apparently one of the most breathable waterproof garments and a competitor of Goretex, but it has no side pockets--just the upper pockets.
This rain jacket has everything I want: style, comfort, waterproof, breathability and durability.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RLHorst Does not fit as expected
I purchased the Pathfinder with the intent this would be a great addition to my backpacking wear. When I got the jacket, a visual review got me excited as I could see it was well made. The zippers work very well, they seal everything up very well. The fabric is very durable as it does not appear to be something that would snag easily at all. It was just what I wanted.
I wanted the jacket as a shell for backpacking so I wanted to have room to put a light wt. fleece under for layering. When I put the jacket on, I found that it was too tight in the arms and torso for any layering to take place. The sleeves and torso are, about two inches short.
Although it is a nice looking jacket, unfortunately it will never make it into my backpack, as it does not serve the purpose.
For someone of 6?6? and 240 lbs, I take this risk each time I order any clothing on line. For those of you the jacket fits, I am sure it is going to be a great addition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by irisheyes7625 Best rain jacket I've ever worn!
This rain jacket is just perfect. We love to mountain bike here in Florida, and the Pathfinder jackets serve us well. The ventilation zippers in the armpits are perfect for working out--even if it's hot or humid, this jacket keeps you dry and cool. We've worn them in the winter, and with the ventilation zippers closed, it keeps you warm in the cool rain. The material doesn't stick to your skin when you sweat, which again makes this a great jacket to wear while being active. There are a bunch of water-resistant pockets which are perfect for electronics and keys. The zippers are really impressive--they seem to have a layer of neoprene that makes the closure virtually disappear when it's zipped shut. And the hood has two sets of pull cords to make it fit just perfectly for you. The wrists also have velcro closures.
Can't recommend this jacket enough!

I'm a 5' 10" woman with a long torso and long arms, and the men's small fits me well -- the sleeves are a bit long, but better than than too short.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anthony1234 Ugly Shade of Blue
The shade of blue (Bluejay) is offputting. It looks like something you wrap your preschooler in when you send him off to kindergarten. Admittedly, the photo in the catalogue shows the color accurately. Unlike me, you should believe your lying eyes. Also, if you are 5?10? or taller you will want the long size (preferably in another color). There is a $10 extra charge for long.

What a great jacket! I purchased this in anticipation of a trip to Mt. Washington. As is to be expected at the summit, it began to rain very hard just after noon but this jacket kept me completely dry! Not only that but it breathed so well I never felt sweaty or stuffy during our descent. The pit-zips provide good ventilation and the jacket appears very well made with quality seams and resilient material.
I am 5' 9", 145lbs and a Medium fits me perfectly. Sleeves extend 3/4 of the way between wrist and knuckles which is perfect for me. Fit is great for me with room for a few layers beneath. It is not, however, sized for people with large upper bodies.
I have an LL Bean backpack which has been abused for over 10 years and it still looks almost new; I anticipate I will be satisfied with this jacket for years to come as well. Now my only course of action is to purchase one for my wife, who unfortunately discovered that her "water resistant" shell was not adequate protection when the rain started coming down in droves :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by AJP3 Perfect to use as a rain, running or ski shell
With four adjustable points on the hood, adjustable wrist straps, waterproof zippers (that don't get stuck on extra material because there is no extra material), and under arm zips that easily open and let cool fresh air in, there is literally no other word to describe this shell other than perfect.
I've used it as just a basic rain shell, I've ran in the rain with it, and I plan on using it to ski in this winter with some layers underneath. The chest pocket has a headphone port which runs to the inside of the jacket and is easily accessible so that you don't have to unzip your shell to change a song or answer a call, you can just go into the chest pocket.
Overall, the Pathfinder Waterproof Shell is the perfect year round shell.

This jacket will keep you dry and seems built well (it is LLBean after all). I ordered a Tall medium and it seems a little larger than indicated in the size chart, but not too large to return. The internal headphone hole is a nice touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fitzpb Great Jacket - Better than Gore-Tex!
This has quickly become my go-to jacket for just about every situation when a jacket is necessary. It keeps me perfectly dry on wet days while still allowing my body to breathe (thank you ll bean for pit zips!!!) The material is incredible - quiet AND comfortable. My old Gore Tex jacket was super noisy and did not "move" with me. This jacket has just a hint of stretch in it that makes it the perfect companion to your outdoor adventures. I purchased the sprout color and am always getting compliments on it - it's a very cheery color. I am 6' 200 lbs with an athletic build and the Large Tall size fits me perfectly. I could probably keep going on about how much I love this jacket, but you get the point. It's an incredible value and has far exceeded my expectations. Just buy it!
