I've bought both this quarter-zip fitness fleece model and a full-zip fitness fleece jacket. The quarter-zip model sits in my closet, while I wear the full-zip model constantly and was hoping to buy another one like it in a different color. I'm extremely disappointed that L L Bean is no longer offering the full-zip model.
I find the quarter-zip model hard to get on and off and constrictive in its fit. Its little zipper pocket is not big enough to be any use to me, and I think it makes the garment look funny.
The full-zip model is perfect for three-season wear over t-shirts or polos, when I want to be able to add a layer or shed it easily, according to changing temperatures, and I like having real pockets on the side. Please bring back the full-zip model!

Having only owned this fitness fleece for roughly a day, this review may change. I ordered two colors, royal red and regular navy. Upon seeing the royal red, I immediately put it back into the bag for return - it is nowhere near the color of the picture online. The navy is a wonderful color. I wore it outside and it was able to provide me with some warmth, though it was very moist after a slight drizzle. I've read some comments below, and I am surprised by the reviews of the long sleeves. I am a slim 5'10 130 lb teenager, and ordered a small which fits me perfectly; not too tight and not too loose.
Upon initial wear, the fleece shed quite a bit, but it seems to have stopped. I will wash it following the care instructions and will see if this continues. Overall, a solid fleece for layering in winter, and wear alone in spring/fall.

My husband said "I need a thinner fleece to wear under my winter jackets but warm enough to wear alone in early spring and fall" - so I bought a fitness fleece and it was perfect. After first one was a hit I bought two more in other colors, he wore throughout winter and into early spring. He is a trim Large and it fit well, very flattering, no complaints, and fit, style, color have held up after several washings so far.

Don't EVER reorder a Bean item you love without reading the description to see if they've "improved" it! I made the mistake of ordering a Fitness Fleece for my husband "assuming" that since it carried the same name it would be the same fabric, fit and styling as in the past. The old fitness fleece was lightweight and soft inside and out. This one has a smooth lining that is not fleece and it is much heavier and "hotter" and won't fold down to a compact size in a hiking pack like the old one. It also is a peculiar sizing. As others have noted, unless you have long arms it will be too long in the arms, and the so-called "traditional" cut is a full inch narrower than my husband's two previous Fitness Fleece purchases bought 3 and 5 years ago respectively, even though all are labelled Men's Medium. This one is going back. This is the 4th Bean item I have returned in the last year because the fabric and cut of an old favorite have been changed dramatically. What a pain and expense having to ship things back.
LLBean, if you change the fabric or cut of an item from one year to the next give it a new name so customers will know they are NOT buying a product they have purchased before.

Rated 4 out of 5áby TerryRR Sleeves not too long for me.
I must be the mutant zombie that one of the other comments referred to in regards to the sleeve length, I am a slender 6' 2" 170 lbs and usually buy a medium tall, as I did here. No need to size up. Sleeves are always too short for me. These are better than most but I could still use another inch or so. Four stars not five. Could definitely use some side pockets and the inside fabric is not fleece so the outside is actually softer than the inside. Not itchy but just not as soft. I would also prefer a slightly smaller sleeve opening. Every movement sends a draft up the arm. A little baggy in the body, but that goes with the "traditional fit." Despite these issues I will be saving up to purchase a few more.

I am a trim 6' 175lbs and the Medium Tall fits great! Sleeves fit my long arms and overall length covers mid crotch. It is my new favorite item to wear when it is cold. The chest pocket works great to keep my phone handy.

Love this pullover but the breast pocket is small.
Two side pockets would make this perfect and I'd give it 5 stars.

Great shirt at a fair price. Nice fit, retains color & shape after repeated laundering. Excellent for layering.

Had previously owned 5 fitness fleece sweaters and found them great , for golf , walking , anywhere you needed a light sweater to take the chill off . All 5 were either black or navy so decided to order a Russet Clay colour . When it arrived , the colour was great but the sleeves were way too long , about one and a half inches longer than the other 5 although it was the same size , men's large . I am 5 ft. 10 inches tall and have always ordered a men's large in sweaters , jackets , etc. , from LL Bean but lately have found that almost every item I order is way too long . LL Bean must have revised their standard for sizing .

Fits wide and loose (XL). Cuffs are also wide--not snug.
