Got these for my husband and he loves them. Great fit and very comfy. He has a pair of shoes he wears only in the house and others for outside. These are the in the house ones right now.

Out of the box greatness. I had to choose one shoe to wear for eternity, this would be it.

by JStroker Did not last long
I purchased these shoes to wear to work. I am an electrician and they seemed like they would make a sturdy work shoe. However, after only a couple of months they started falling apart. The soles were worn and separating from the shoe, the seams were busting and the front sole was completely worn thin. The shoes are less than 6 months old and look like they are 10 years old! I had to return them. Not up to normal LL Bean standards.

These are wonderful shoes. I wear them to work and they are comfortable all day long, even on concrete floors. They come with flashy laces or more subdued laces, which ever you choose. They are not as heavy as they look and have great support in case you have to be on your feet all day. I would recommend them to anyone looking for hiking shoes for everyday use.

Shoe ran about a half size small. Went to Beans is Albany to return them and try the next bigger size(13) fit was cramped-too narrow.

I bought these based on the previous reviews. I wanted a basic, light duty hiker that was also good for work or around the town wear. Initially, they were a little stiff, but after the first full day of wearing them, I have not bothered to even try on the other model of shoe I purchased. More than likely, I will be returning them and buying another pair of these. Good sole comfort, good stability, self cleaning voids on the sole, solid exterior, easy zip laces. If you're on the fence about buying them, get them, wear them for a day. I'm sure you'll love them.

Despite the extensive lacing, these slipped off my heels (which are narrow). I was also a bit dubious about their wearability; they were less sturdy than I had expected. I probably need to spend more for what I want.

I love these shoes! They are a little bit wider than standard which makes them very comfortable for me and my orthotics (I simply removed the innersole which was held in with one little spot of glue).
They are great for general walking, light hiking and they have a neat retro look with the red laces. If you prefer, they come with a second set of brown laces.
I bought the first pair for "upta camp" but quickly bought a second pair to wear at home. Just love 'em!

The soles of these shoes wore out in five months of frequent wear on city streets. There is a hole in the sole of one shoe and the other sole is very thin.
Otherwise, the shoes are fine. I like the style and the tops are still in good condition. I am considering having them resoled and LLBean suggested a couple of places that could do this. But I don't think this should be necessary after such a short time.
