I love LL Bean sheets, have been buying them for well over 15 years... and was recently pleased to read that Consumer Reports confirms my high opinion of them. This Sunwashed Print Set is no exception... just as crisp and high quality as the others. (The pillow cases on my last set finally wore thin after 7 years of daily use. The sheets are still going strong!) I just wish there were solids and prints available in a light and/or dark blue-green.

I've washed them a couple of times, and they are not soft. Not smooth against the skin. Not soft. Otherwise very nice. But not what I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kmak tried to find quality sheets like these for years
the minute I opened the package, I knew I made the right choice. These are the sheets I had been trying to find - the ones that were like the sheets from my wedding shower 34 yrs ago. Quality from yesteryear - not the garbage that is made today and advertised as something it is not! These sheets are substantial, crisp and yet soft enough --- some sheets I had purchased thru the years were so thin you may as well have slept right on your mattress! These also look great --- I plan on buying another pair.
P.S. took them from the package and washed in cool water; using fabric softener. Put in dryer on LOW heat and removed immediately and folded --- when I took them a few days later to put them on my bed ---- not one wrinkle.

These sheets/cases are very high quality and are reminiscent of the good sheets we used to get from the department stores before the department store sheets went downhill (probably due to store owners putting their bottom line over making their customers happy by providing them with high quality products at decent prices.) Well, what goes around comes around, and I never shop for sheets at department stores for my sheets anymore. The Sunwashed percale from L.L Bean are fabulous - well constructed, sturdy, super soft percale. They barely wrinkle if taken straight out of the dryer. Word to the wise - NEVER use fabric softener or dryer sheets on these sheet as you will ruin them. I use a mixture of borax & arm & hammer washing soda mixed with a tiny bit of charlie's washing powder (natural stuff) and the sheets come out like they've been hung outside in the fresh air & sunshine. And no, I do not work for a laundry detergent company. I am super picky about sheets though. You really cannot go wrong with these sheets if you treat them correctly.

Love the look and feel of these sheets!
They've become my favorite.
Take them out of dryer and can put right on bed. No wrinkled messy look. (If I have time, touch up the pillow cases with an iron)
Sheets look and feel great, crisp and clean, yet soft and comfortable against the skin. (Yes they do make crinkling noises :-)
Was surprised and a bit disappointed The new redwood color print (more of a rust color than red or pink) is not on a white background like the blue and green sets I have, but printed on a natural/cream color background.
Redwood still ooks nice, but would have prefered the white background.
Believe the darker blue looks to be on a cream color background too. Just be aware.

I love l ove love these sheets. They match the bedding I purchased to a T. The only problem, they make a lot of noise. When you move, the crinkle.

There is nothing like cotton percale. These sheets are really, really nice - lovely, soft, cool, crisp and sturdy. The mineral green dye stays true and does not run, BUT the red dye definitely runs. The white background on my red set of sheets is now tea-colored due to the red dye running. This does not bother me at all though and doesn't effect the sheets in any way except for the color. If you want a white background to stay white, get the mineral green color (do not know about the blue sheets though.) All in all I am very happy with these sheets and feel they will last forever. They remind me of the old-fashioned percale cotton sheets from when sheets were a lot better. The sheets they sell in the major dept. stores are horrible and usually rip down by the foot because they are not percale and tend to glorify the "high thread count" which is just a gimmick. You really cannot go wrong with these sheets, but remember that the red dye does run and makes the background more of a tea color. (I actually like it though.)

When I opened my package of new Sunwashed Percale Sheets, I was surprised to find that they had been pre-washed, presenting a softer than expected texture. I took them directly from the package to the the washer, and as I was putting them in, the crisp rustle of the fabric assured me that they would have the smooth percale finish that I like, yet they also have a soft hand, making them perfect for year-round use. The sheets washed and dried beautifully, and came out of the drier wrinkle-free. I have a fairly basic dryer, without a cool-down feature to discourage fabric wrinkling, so I was doubly impressed at the lack of wrinkles.
I Iove the feel of ironed sheets, especially during hot weather, but am not inclined to iron them myself or send them out to a professional laundry, as I used to do until a microbiologist friend of told me, "Stop sending your linens out to commercial laundries. And don't ask why -- you really don't want to know." But I particularly like crisp pillowcases, so I've found that hanging them on a drying rack instead of putting them in the dryer gives them an ironed appearance and feel, as well as a clothesline-fresh smell. And these pillowcases dried beautifully smooth, even though they hadn't been tumble-dried. (Another lazy person's no-iron tip: I fold my sheets as soon as they come out of the dryer and set them directly on the top of the still-warm dryer. I then stack other clean and folded items on top of them, then leave them on top of the dryer while it's drying another load or so, and the heat from the top of the dryer and the weight of the other items I've stacked on top makes the sheets look almost as if they've been ironed.)
I'm very happy with the size of the standard pillow cases. I've purchased sheet sets from other reputable retailers, only to find that the pillowcases were cut very narrow, requiring some wrestling to get them on the pillows, wrinkling them quite a bit in the process. The top sheet is also cut wide enough for ample coverage, unlike the mingy, narrow top sheets I got with other sheet sets. I would have preferred the bottom sheet not to have elastic all around, but I think I'm in the minority on that, as I'm sure its the best way to ensure a good fit on a range of mattresses of different depths. I just find them easier to fold when the elastic is only on the corners.
I love these sheets -- they're a such a pleasure to sleep in -- and will be buying another couple of sets in other colors. These sheets and some recently purchased towels are of such great quality that LL Bean will continue to be my preferred place to shop for all household linens in the future.
