Rated 5 out of 5 by SometimeExplorer Stylish, capacious, durable, not enough handles
This bag expands and hold a lot of stuff. Very good looking. Durable, standing up to international flight and train travel from London to Fishguard Wales. Staying in B&Bs we noticed that not all had lots of room for an open suitcase. This nice bag needed more handles, one on each open half, so you could pick it up and move it easily while unzipped. I would have liked to have a handle on the bottom of the bag instead of just at the top and side as well. The top and side are reinforced and held up well, but I wanted two more handles. This bag and twin are now our favorites and we use them frequently. LL Bean makes them tough and we appreciated it. For rail travel, I may get the extra large rolling duffle as it will go up narrow entries and stairs of trains more easily. This luggage will be a friend for life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ssif21 Would Have Been a Five Star Except...
I just returned from a week in Mozambique with the new pullman. It holds a ton and is well designed except for one glaring flaw: the plastic zipper means that anyone who wants to pilfer it can open it with a ball point pen in seconds then zip it back closed. If it had a metal zipper, it would be a five star.

LL Bean seems to set a standard for customer service.. And, we greatly appreciate that. It is almost a surprise that any company could be that helpful and friendly

We actually thought this was generally a great bag, and was nearly perfect for the specific use we had (using one half for our infant's travel crib, which fits in most 28" suitcases).
The materials seemed solid, and for our particular use case, the unique middle-split was actually ideal.
However, it's definitely worth noting that this suitcase is a solid 1.5-2" narrower than other 28" suitcases. You also lose an additional 1-2" of width because of the fabric divider/border/lip on the inside. As a result, we had to return it and get a more standard-sized case.
For most people just packing clothes, it may be a great option. But if you're going to be packing anything wide or tall, you may get hurt by some of the design decisions here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LLBFAN33 PERFECT - EXCEPT FOR THE LINING!
I ordered the medium, large, and extra large rolling Pullmans. The medium nests into the large, but the large will not nest into the extra large. This is very frustrating for me. Since the luggage spends more time in storage regardless of how much one travels, this is very important. The technical detail is in the way the lining is sewn. It's the edging where the zipper is - its literally a half-inch too big to allow the large Pullman to fit. The size of the suitcase is not the issue, its the lining! The lining does not give to allow for nesting. I wanted to get a nesting package but all the ones I looked at were not what I wanted and I wanted the LLBEAN quality, despite the extra cost. So for the extra money and quality, I would think that all the Pullmans would nest but they don't. Please change this....the only thing you are changing is the size of the LINING not the suitcase itself. Seems minor yet so important. So for the money you would get the name, quality, and everything would nest inside itself for convenient storage. It would also add as another great selling feature! For those of us who live in small apartments its a space-saver!
Other than the lining, the suitcase is PERFECT! I love it and can't wait to use it. Its exactly what I was looking for !

Rated 5 out of 5 by BusyOnTheGo Well Made!
I bought this luggage as a graduation gift for my grandson. It is well made. I really like how it opens into two separate sections with zipper mesh netting to hold contents of each section in place. So far, so good.

LL Bean is second to no one when it comes to Customer Satisfaction! On a recent trip, one of the wheels on my LL Bean luggage broke. I loved this luggage and was disappointed when I found out it had been discontinued at LL Bean. Even though the luggage was over 10+ years old, they replaced it with a new piece of luggage which is of equal value. I love my LL Bean luggage because it stands up to all kinds of abuse from airport turnstiles to baggage handlers. My next trip is coming up and I am sure my LL Bean luggage will stand up to the challenge! Thank you LL Bean for such a great Customer Return Policy and product. You lead the industry!!!

The bag was nice, but the lettering was incorrect and to small to read, was supposed to be D J E, and came D E J

Rated 5 out of 5 by UpstateNYreviewer As advertised, a quality extra-large suitcase
Fits a huge amount and remains lightweight. Attractive. easy to handle, but perhaps future upgrades could include the now-popular four-wheel rolling ability. I did not compare prices but It's hard to imagine a lower price for such a quality piece, shipped free of charge (and delivered within two days, or in half the time originally promised for standard delivery!).

My daughter and I fly a lot! These bags stand the rigors of flying!
We are on a first name basis with the gentleman who works the Southwest baggage check at our airport. He always comments on our LLBean luggage because he says "its the best" that he sees; and he should know! We agree! We only bought a new piece because of an up coming trip where we could have 70 pounds per bag, not just 50 pounds.
